Uzlet američkog nezavisnog filma krajem osamdesetih i početkom devedesetih najviše se pripisuje braći Coen, Stevenu Soderberghu i Quentinu Tarantinu. To je legitimno, nema što. Međutim, bilo je tu i još nekih danas zaboravljenih redatelja koji su davali veliki obol "indie" filmu, ali ostali u sjeni slavnijih imena. Jedan od njih je John Dahl.

Između 1989. i 1994., od "Ubij me ponovno" preko "Red Rock Westa" do "Posljednjeg zavođenja", Dahl je bio iznimno potentan nezavisnjak američke kinematografije. Pozicionirao se kao žanrovski autor specijaliziran za "noirovske" krimiće/trilere s umorstvima koja mirišu na pištolje i ruže, beskrupuloznim fatalnim ženama voljnima napraviti sve za viši cilj (sređivanje partnera/supruga), dvostrukim obmanama i trostrukim preokretima.

Nakon što je Dahl debitirao s "Kill Me Again", film se toliko dopao legendarnom Francisu Fordu Coppoli da je nagovorio nećaka Nicolasa Cagea da glumi u njegovu drugijencu "Red Rock West". S trećim filmom "The Last Seduction" Dahl je potvrdio talent i trijumfalno kompletirao neslužbenu "noirovsku" trilogiju.

Svaki od ova tri filma idealan je za upoznavanje s Dahlom ili podsjećanje na njega. Splitska "Kinoteka" nije mogla pogriješiti da je odabrala bilo koji dio Dahlove trilogije za ovogodišnji ciklus klasike u Ljetnom kinu "Bačvice". No, "Posljednje zavođenje" (1994.) vjerojatno je najbolji izbor.

Vrućine i vrući "noir" idu ruku pod ruku, kao ljeto i ljetno kino, a ovaj seksi film bio je Dahlov odgovor na vruće erotske "(neo)noir" trilere osamdesetih i devedesetih. Žanr su, podsjetimo, porodili "Tjelesna strast" i "Poštar uvijek zvoni dvaput", da bi eksplodirao s klasicima "Kobna privlačnost", "More ljubavi", "Hot Spot" i, najviše, "Sirove strasti".

No, nije to bio standardni erotski triler epohe, premda ga se tako kategoriziralo pa je isprve na domaćem (video)tržištu bio preveden kao "Kobne strasti", kako je naslovljena i parodija žanra "Fatal Instinct" koja je u naslovu također spojila "Fatal Attraction" i "Basic Instinct", samo na engleskom.

Nekako je smisleno da je jedna od specijalnosti fatalne žene filma "The Last Seduction" Bridget Gregory (fenomenalna Linda Fiorentino u ulozi života) pisanje unatrag ili naopako kako bi se to što je napisala moglo pročitati u odrazu zrcala. "Unatrag" i "naopako" je ključna riječ u kontekstu "Posljednjeg zavođenja".

Jer, Dahl je vratio novi erotski triler a la "Sirove strasti" u vrijeme starog "noira" poput "Dvostruke obmane" Billyja Wildera i okrenuo naopako žanr željan nove "ševe stoljeća" poslije "Sirovih strasti". Briljantni, arhetipski "noir" klasik "Double Indemnity" referentna je točka za "The Last Seduction" jednako kao i za "Body Heat" i "The Postman Always Rings Twice".

U jednom momentu Bridget spomene "double indemnity" i predstavlja se kao "Mrs. Neff", što je bilo prezime prodavača osiguranja Waltera Neffa (Fred MacMurray) koji je potpao pod čari plavuše Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) u "Dvostrukoj obmani".

Spomen je na mjestu: "Posljednje zavođenje" u konačnici postaje još jedan "noir" u kojem "femme fatale" zavede naivnog muškarca, pretvori ga u ljubavnika i obrlati da joj pomogne ubiti muža.  Ipak, Dahlov pristup arhetipu je nešto drukčiji. Arhetipska "Double Indemnity" postavka se postavlja tek na samom kraju filma, a ne odmah pri početku ili najkasnije do sredine.

Treba proći vremena da Bridget smota "ruralnog neadertalca" koji nije "toliko pametan" (Peter Berg kao Mike) kako bi koknuo njezina supruga Claya (Bill Pullman). Ne zato što joj je trebalo dugo da ga smota, već zato što ona uživa poigravati se s ljudima/muškarcima i prcati ih u mozak; to joj je glavna zabava, uz ubiranje para.

Dahl uživa u toj igri i pušta je da bude glavni lik filma kao rijetko neka "femme fatale", uvjerljivo dominantna nad sporednim muškarcima (nijedan "noir" nije ovoliko bio fokusiran na fatalnu ženu). Natruhe njezina lika naslućujemo u uvodu kad lizne podeblji svežanj dolara iz ruke supruga koji joj kaže da je "criminal mastermind" ("to mi je samo hobi").

Kad Clayu poleti ruka i ošamari Bridget, on je svjestan da je pretjerao. "Možeš me udariti bilo gdje", predlaže muž koji je prodao farmaceutski kokain za 700.000 dolara. Vratit će mu ona šamar, ali ne doslovno. Dok je Clay pod tušem, Bridget će, za početak, pobjeći s novcem iz New Yorka u gradić Beston, nedaleko Buffala.

Tamo jedne večeri upoznaje Mikea, u lokalnom baru punom muškaraca. Njezin ulet je ekvivalentan uletu Eddieja Murphyja u bar prepun bijelaca u "48 sati". "Kome cura ovdje treba popušiti da dobije piće", upita Bridget nakon što je barmen ignorira kad je zatražila koktel Manhattan. Mike iskoristi priliku da dođe za šank, naruči/plati piće i upadne zgodnoj brineti, ali Bridget ga zamoli da ode.

"Nisam te završio šarmirati", dometne Mike. "Nisi ni počeo", poklopi ga Bridget, no Mike se ne da smesti i ispali da je "obdaren kao konj". Na njegovo i naše iznenađenje, Bridget otkopča šlic da provjeri "određenu konjsku kvalitetu" u gaćama i tako Mike postaje njezina "dežurna ševa", "sex object", dok umišlja da će ga ona zavoljeti i tvrdi da je "veći od ovog grada", ali je nesvjestan da je ona veća od njega.

Zanimljivo je da je njihova prva scena seksa preskočena na "jutro poslije", kad Bridget zove odvjetnika (uvijek rado viđeni J.T. Walsh), pronalazi pitu od jabuka u hladnjaku, zagrize je i ispljune s gađenjem, da bi ugasila cigaretu u nju i uočila natpis "Love, Grandma". Takvi sitni detalji Dahlu su važniji od krupnih scena seksa, kao i sočni dijalozi iz pera scenarista Stevea Barancika ("Nađi neku kaubojku i napravite kaubojčiće", "Volim te... siguran sam da i ti osjećaš isto. Siguran sam da i ti sebe voliš").

Za "Basic Instinct" standarde erotskog trilera devedesetih "The Last Seduction" ima malo eksplicitnijeg seksa i golotinje, ali je puno seksi zahvaljujući Bridget kao napaljujućem utjelovljenju "femme fatale" seksepila dok se igra mačke i miša s Mikeom i gledateljem.

"Što se mene tiče, svaki seks koji smo imali samo je produkt tvoje mašte", veli Bridget kao da je svjesna manjka seksanja u "Posljednjem zavođenju", a viška prcanja u mozak, uključujući i pozivanje na "freudovski mindfuck" u razgovoru s detektivom angažiranim da je prati ("nedostaci" i "veliki pištolj").

S vječnom cigaretom na usnama, dubljim glasom i snažnom pojavnošću, Fiorentino je stvorila jednu od najboljih fatalnih žena u povijesti. Inteligentna, cinična, opasna, spremna doći (gornje i donje) glave svakom muškarcu, Bridget je "totalna jebena kuja" i njezin moralni kompas neće na kraju pokazivati sjever, niti ga uopće ima. Ona je "bad girl" od prvog do zadnjeg kadra i (film) nema s time nikakvog problema.

Od ‘Ljubavne ucjene‘ do ‘Seruma istine‘

J.T. Walsh je glumio i u "Red Rock West", a Linda Fiorentino potom i u Dahlovu "Serumu istine", kao i u erotskom trileru "Ljubavna ucjena" Williama Friedkina, te blockbusteru "Ljudi u crnom", ali nikad nije bila ovako dobra kao u "Posljednjem zavođenju".

Uzlet američkog nezavisnog filma krajem osamdesetih i početkom devedesetih najviše se pripisuje braći Coen, Stevenu Soderberghu i Quentinu Tarantinu. To je legitimno, nema što. Međutim, bilo je tu i još nekih danas zaboravljenih redatelja koji su davali veliki obol "indie" filmu, ali ostali u sjeni slavnijih imena. Jedan od njih je John Dahl.

Između 1989. i 1994., od "Ubij me ponovno" preko "Red Rock Westa" do "Posljednjeg zavođenja", Dahl je bio iznimno potentan nezavisnjak američke kinematografije. Pozicionirao se kao žanrovski autor specijaliziran za "noirovske" krimiće/trilere s umorstvima koja mirišu na pištolje i ruže, beskrupuloznim fatalnim ženama voljnima napraviti sve za viši cilj (sređivanje partnera/supruga), dvostrukim obmanama i trostrukim preokretima.

Nakon što je Dahl debitirao s "Kill Me Again", film se toliko dopao legendarnom Francisu Fordu Coppoli da je nagovorio nećaka Nicolasa Cagea da glumi u njegovu drugijencu "Red Rock West". S trećim filmom "The Last Seduction" Dahl je potvrdio talent i trijumfalno kompletirao neslužbenu "noirovsku" trilogiju.

Svaki od ova tri filma idealan je za upoznavanje s Dahlom ili podsjećanje na njega. Splitska "Kinoteka" nije mogla pogriješiti da je odabrala bilo koji dio Dahlove trilogije za ovogodišnji ciklus klasike u Ljetnom kinu "Bačvice". No, "Posljednje zavođenje" (1994.) vjerojatno je najbolji izbor.

Vrućine i vrući "noir" idu ruku pod ruku, kao ljeto i ljetno kino, a ovaj seksi film bio je Dahlov odgovor na vruće erotske "(neo)noir" trilere osamdesetih i devedesetih. Žanr su, podsjetimo, porodili "Tjelesna strast" i "Poštar uvijek zvoni dvaput", da bi eksplodirao s klasicima "Kobna privlačnost", "More ljubavi", "Hot Spot" i, najviše, "Sirove strasti".

No, nije to bio standardni erotski triler epohe, premda ga se tako kategoriziralo pa je isprve na domaćem (video)tržištu bio preveden kao "Kobne strasti", kako je naslovljena i parodija žanra "Fatal Instinct" koja je u naslovu također spojila "Fatal Attraction" i "Basic Instinct", samo na engleskom.

Nekako je smisleno da je jedna od specijalnosti fatalne žene filma "The Last Seduction" Bridget Gregory (fenomenalna Linda Fiorentino u ulozi života) pisanje unatrag ili naopako kako bi se to što je napisala moglo pročitati u odrazu zrcala. "Unatrag" i "naopako" je ključna riječ u kontekstu "Posljednjeg zavođenja".

Jer, Dahl je vratio novi erotski triler a la "Sirove strasti" u vrijeme starog "noira" poput "Dvostruke obmane" Billyja Wildera i okrenuo naopako žanr željan nove "ševe stoljeća" poslije "Sirovih strasti". Briljantni, arhetipski "noir" klasik "Double Indemnity" referentna je točka za "The Last Seduction" jednako kao i za "Body Heat" i "The Postman Always Rings Twice".

U jednom momentu Bridget spomene "double indemnity" i predstavlja se kao "Mrs. Neff", što je bilo prezime prodavača osiguranja Waltera Neffa (Fred MacMurray) koji je potpao pod čari plavuše Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) u "Dvostrukoj obmani".

Spomen je na mjestu: "Posljednje zavođenje" u konačnici postaje još jedan "noir" u kojem "femme fatale" zavede naivnog muškarca, pretvori ga u ljubavnika i obrlati da joj pomogne ubiti muža.  Ipak, Dahlov pristup arhetipu je nešto drukčiji. Arhetipska "Double Indemnity" postavka se postavlja tek na samom kraju filma, a ne odmah pri početku ili najkasnije do sredine.

Treba proći vremena da Bridget smota "ruralnog neadertalca" koji nije "toliko pametan" (Peter Berg kao Mike) kako bi koknuo njezina supruga Claya (Bill Pullman). Ne zato što joj je trebalo dugo da ga smota, već zato što ona uživa poigravati se s ljudima/muškarcima i prcati ih u mozak; to joj je glavna zabava, uz ubiranje para.

Dahl uživa u toj igri i pušta je da bude glavni lik filma kao rijetko neka "femme fatale", uvjerljivo dominantna nad sporednim muškarcima (nijedan "noir" nije ovoliko bio fokusiran na fatalnu ženu). Natruhe njezina lika naslućujemo u uvodu kad lizne podeblji svežanj dolara iz ruke supruga koji joj kaže da je "criminal mastermind" ("to mi je samo hobi").

Kad Clayu poleti ruka i ošamari Bridget, on je svjestan da je pretjerao. "Možeš me udariti bilo gdje", predlaže muž koji je prodao farmaceutski kokain za 700.000 dolara. Vratit će mu ona šamar, ali ne doslovno. Dok je Clay pod tušem, Bridget će, za početak, pobjeći s novcem iz New Yorka u gradić Beston, nedaleko Buffala.

Tamo jedne večeri upoznaje Mikea, u lokalnom baru punom muškaraca. Njezin ulet je ekvivalentan uletu Eddieja Murphyja u bar prepun bijelaca u "48 sati". "Kome cura ovdje treba popušiti da dobije piće", upita Bridget nakon što je barmen ignorira kad je zatražila koktel Manhattan. Mike iskoristi priliku da dođe za šank, naruči/plati piće i upadne zgodnoj brineti, ali Bridget ga zamoli da ode.

"Nisam te završio šarmirati", dometne Mike. "Nisi ni počeo", poklopi ga Bridget, no Mike se ne da smesti i ispali da je "obdaren kao konj". Na njegovo i naše iznenađenje, Bridget otkopča šlic da provjeri "određenu konjsku kvalitetu" u gaćama i tako Mike postaje njezina "dežurna ševa", "sex object", dok umišlja da će ga ona zavoljeti i tvrdi da je "veći od ovog grada", ali je nesvjestan da je ona veća od njega.

Zanimljivo je da je njihova prva scena seksa preskočena na "jutro poslije", kad Bridget zove odvjetnika (uvijek rado viđeni J.T. Walsh), pronalazi pitu od jabuka u hladnjaku, zagrize je i ispljune s gađenjem, da bi ugasila cigaretu u nju i uočila natpis "Love, Grandma". Takvi sitni detalji Dahlu su važniji od krupnih scena seksa, kao i sočni dijalozi iz pera scenarista Stevea Barancika ("Nađi neku kaubojku i napravite kaubojčiće", "Volim te... siguran sam da i ti osjećaš isto. Siguran sam da i ti sebe voliš").

Za "Basic Instinct" standarde erotskog trilera devedesetih "The Last Seduction" ima malo eksplicitnijeg seksa i golotinje, ali je puno seksi zahvaljujući Bridget kao napaljujućem utjelovljenju "femme fatale" seksepila dok se igra mačke i miša s Mikeom i gledateljem.

"Što se mene tiče, svaki seks koji smo imali samo je produkt tvoje mašte", veli Bridget kao da je svjesna manjka seksanja u "Posljednjem zavođenju", a viška prcanja u mozak, uključujući i pozivanje na "freudovski mindfuck" u razgovoru s detektivom angažiranim da je prati ("nedostaci" i "veliki pištolj").

S vječnom cigaretom na usnama, dubljim glasom i snažnom pojavnošću, Fiorentino je stvorila jednu od najboljih fatalnih žena u povijesti. Inteligentna, cinična, opasna, spremna doći (gornje i donje) glave svakom muškarcu, Bridget je "totalna jebena kuja" i njezin moralni kompas neće na kraju pokazivati sjever, niti ga uopće ima. Ona je "bad girl" od prvog do zadnjeg kadra i (film) nema s time nikakvog problema.

Od ‘Ljubavne ucjene‘ do ‘Seruma istine‘

J.T. Walsh je glumio i u "Red Rock West", a Linda Fiorentino potom i u Dahlovu "Serumu istine", kao i u erotskom trileru "Ljubavna ucjena" Williama Friedkina, te blockbusteru "Ljudi u crnom", ali nikad nije bila ovako dobra kao u "Posljednjem zavođenju".

Uzlet američkog nezavisnog filma krajem osamdesetih i početkom devedesetih najviše se pripisuje braći Coen, Stevenu Soderberghu i Quentinu Tarantinu. To je legitimno, nema što. Međutim, bilo je tu i još nekih danas zaboravljenih redatelja koji su davali veliki obol "indie" filmu, ali ostali u sjeni slavnijih imena. Jedan od njih je John Dahl.

Između 1989. i 1994., od "Ubij me ponovno" preko "Red Rock Westa" do "Posljednjeg zavođenja", Dahl je bio iznimno potentan nezavisnjak američke kinematografije. Pozicionirao se kao žanrovski autor specijaliziran za "noirovske" krimiće/trilere s umorstvima koja mirišu na pištolje i ruže, beskrupuloznim fatalnim ženama voljnima napraviti sve za viši cilj (sređivanje partnera/supruga), dvostrukim obmanama i trostrukim...
