Omikron se razmnožava drukčije od ostalih varijanti koronavirusa u dišnim putevima i u plućima, objavili su u srijedu znanstvenici, dodajući da bi to saznanje moglo pomoći u predviđanju djelovanja omikrona i posljedica koje ostavlja na zdravlje. Pojasnili su da se omikron brže razmnožava u dišnim putevima, a sporije u samim plućima, prenosi HRT.

U usporedbi s ranijom varijantom koronavirusa, deltom, omikron se umnožava 70 puta brže u tkivima koja oblažu dišne puteve, što može olakšati njegov prijenos s osobe na osobu, rekli su.

No u plućnim tkivima omikron se replicira 10 puta sporije od izvorne verzije koronavirusa, što bi moglo rezultirati razvojem manje teškog oblika bolesti.

U priopćenju za medije koje je objavilo sveučilište u Hong Kongu, voditelj studije dr. Michael Chan Chi-wai je napisao: "Važno je napomenuti da težina bolesti koja se razvija u ljudi nije određena samo replikacijom virusa", već i imunosnom reakcijom pojedinca na infekciju, koja se ponekad razvije u upalu opasnu po život.

Konačna stručna recenzija službenog izvješća rezultata istraživanja o omikronu je u tijeku, nakon čega će ga honkonški tim istraživača objaviti u stručnom časopisu.

- Ako zarazi veći broj ljudi, ovaj vrlo zarazni virus može prouzročiti teži oblik bolesti, pa i smrt, premda je sam virus vjerojatno manje patogen. Stoga bi, ako u obzir uzmemo rezultate svih nedavno provedenih studija koji pokazuju da omikron dijelom može izbjeći prirodno stečeni imunitet, kao i onaj postignut cijepljenjem sveukupna prijetnja od ove varijante vrlo vjerojatno mogla biti velika, kazao je Chan Chi-wai.

Omikron čvršće prianja uz stanice

Način na koji se omikron veže za stanice i antitijela baca novo svjetlo na njegovo ponašanje i mogao bi pomoći u stvaranju neutralizirajućih antitijela, rekli su znanstvenici.

Koristeći računalne modele proteina šiljka na površini omikrona stručnjaci su analizirali molekularne interakcije do kojih dolazi kada se protein šiljka veže za ACE2 receptore, što virusu omogućuje prodor u stanicu.

- Izvorni virus se samo 'rukovao' s proteinom ACE2, a u slučaju omikrona "ta interakcija više izgleda poput interakcije para koji se drži za ruke s isprepletenim prstima, slikovito je pojasnio Joseph Lubin sa Sveučilišta Rutgers u New Jerseyju.

"Molekularna anatomija", podvrsta mikroskopske anatomije koja se bavi identifikacijom i opisom molekularnih struktura stanica, tkiva i organa u organizmu mogla bi pomoći u tomu da se pojasni na koji način omikronove mutacije 'surađuju' te tako pomažu pri zarazi stanica, dodao je Lubin.

Istraživački tim je napravio model šiljka s različitim tipovima antitijela koja su ga pokušala napasti. Znanstvenici su pojasnili da antitijela napadaju iz različitih kutova, "kao što se obrana nogometne momčadi napada igrača koji vodi loptu", pri čemu ga jedan ometa s leđa, a drugi sprijeda, rekao je Lubin.

Čini se da će neka antitijela u tom procesu "otpasti" dok će druga vjerojatno ostati učinkovita.

Dopunska cjepiva bez sumnje podižu razinu antitijela, što rezultira "većim brojem branitelja", a to bi donekle moglo nadoknaditi "slabiji stisak pojedinačnog antitijela", rekao je Lubin.

Četvero od 10 zaraženih nesvjesno širi virus

Zaražene osobe bez simptoma mogu znatno pridonijeti prijenosu SARS-CoVa-2, s obzirom na to da čine 40,5 posto potvrđenih infekcija u cijelom svijetu, rezultati su studije objavljeni u utorak na internetskim stranicama časopisa JAMA.

Znanstvenici su objedinili podatke iz 77 prethodno provedenih studija u koje je bilo uključeno ukupno 19.884 osoba s potvrđenom infekcijom SARS-CoVom-2.

Ustanovili su da je među zaraženima bilo oko 40 posto asimptomatskih osoba. Također je otkriveno 54 posto zaraženih trudnica, 53 posto putnika zaraženih tijekom putovanja zrakoplovom ili na krstarenjima, 48 posto zaraženih štićenika domova umirovljenika i 30 posto zaraženih u zdravstvenim ustanovama, bilo da se radilo o zaposlenicima medicinskih ustanova ili o hospitaliziranim pacijentima.

Ukupni postotak asimptomatskih infekcija u Sjevernoj Americi iznosio je oko 46 posto, u Europi oko 44 posto i u Aziji 28 posto.

- Visoki postotak asimptomatskih infekcija ukazuje na potencijalni rizik od asimptomatskog prijenosa zaraze u zajednicama, napisali su Min Liu i njegovi kolege s kineskog Sveučilišta Peking, javlja HRT.

Omikron se razmnožava drukčije od ostalih varijanti koronavirusa u dišnim putevima i u plućima, objavili su u srijedu znanstvenici, dodajući da bi to saznanje moglo pomoći u predviđanju djelovanja omikrona i posljedica koje ostavlja na zdravlje. Pojasnili su da se omikron brže razmnožava u dišnim putevima, a sporije u samim plućima, prenosi HRT.

U usporedbi s ranijom varijantom koronavirusa, deltom, omikron se umnožava 70 puta brže u tkivima koja oblažu dišne puteve, što može olakšati njegov prijenos s osobe na osobu, rekli su.

No u plućnim tkivima omikron se replicira 10 puta sporije od izvorne verzije koronavirusa, što bi moglo rezultirati razvojem manje teškog oblika bolesti.

U priopćenju za medije koje je objavilo sveučilište u Hong Kongu, voditelj studije dr. Michael Chan Chi-wai je napisao: "Važno je napomenuti da težina bolesti koja se razvija u ljudi nije određena samo replikacijom virusa", već i imunosnom reakcijom pojedinca na infekciju, koja se ponekad razvije u upalu opasnu po život.

Konačna stručna recenzija službenog izvješća rezultata istraživanja o omikronu je u tijeku, nakon čega će ga honkonški tim istraživača objaviti u stručnom časopisu.

- Ako zarazi veći broj ljudi, ovaj vrlo zarazni virus može prouzročiti teži oblik bolesti, pa i smrt, premda je sam virus vjerojatno manje patogen. Stoga bi, ako u obzir uzmemo rezultate svih nedavno provedenih studija koji pokazuju da omikron dijelom može izbjeći prirodno stečeni imunitet, kao i onaj postignut cijepljenjem sveukupna prijetnja od ove varijante vrlo vjerojatno mogla biti velika, kazao je Chan Chi-wai.

Omikron čvršće prianja uz stanice

Način na koji se omikron veže za stanice i antitijela baca novo svjetlo na njegovo ponašanje i mogao bi pomoći u stvaranju neutralizirajućih antitijela, rekli su znanstvenici.

Koristeći računalne modele proteina šiljka na površini omikrona stručnjaci su analizirali molekularne interakcije do kojih dolazi kada se protein šiljka veže za ACE2 receptore, što virusu omogućuje prodor u stanicu.

- Izvorni virus se samo 'rukovao' s proteinom ACE2, a u slučaju omikrona "ta interakcija više izgleda poput interakcije para koji se drži za ruke s isprepletenim prstima, slikovito je pojasnio Joseph Lubin sa Sveučilišta Rutgers u New Jerseyju.

"Molekularna anatomija", podvrsta mikroskopske anatomije koja se bavi identifikacijom i opisom molekularnih struktura stanica, tkiva i organa u organizmu mogla bi pomoći u tomu da se pojasni na koji način omikronove mutacije 'surađuju' te tako pomažu pri zarazi stanica, dodao je Lubin.

Istraživački tim je napravio model šiljka s različitim tipovima antitijela koja su ga pokušala napasti. Znanstvenici su pojasnili da antitijela napadaju iz različitih kutova, "kao što se obrana nogometne momčadi napada igrača koji vodi loptu", pri čemu ga jedan ometa s leđa, a drugi sprijeda, rekao je Lubin.

Čini se da će neka antitijela u tom procesu "otpasti" dok će druga vjerojatno ostati učinkovita.

Dopunska cjepiva bez sumnje podižu razinu antitijela, što rezultira "većim brojem branitelja", a to bi donekle moglo nadoknaditi "slabiji stisak pojedinačnog antitijela", rekao je Lubin.

Četvero od 10 zaraženih nesvjesno širi virus

Zaražene osobe bez simptoma mogu znatno pridonijeti prijenosu SARS-CoVa-2, s obzirom na to da čine 40,5 posto potvrđenih infekcija u cijelom svijetu, rezultati su studije objavljeni u utorak na internetskim stranicama časopisa JAMA.

Znanstvenici su objedinili podatke iz 77 prethodno provedenih studija u koje je bilo uključeno ukupno 19.884 osoba s potvrđenom infekcijom SARS-CoVom-2.

Ustanovili su da je među zaraženima bilo oko 40 posto asimptomatskih osoba. Također je otkriveno 54 posto zaraženih trudnica, 53 posto putnika zaraženih tijekom putovanja zrakoplovom ili na krstarenjima, 48 posto zaraženih štićenika domova umirovljenika i 30 posto zaraženih u zdravstvenim ustanovama, bilo da se radilo o zaposlenicima medicinskih ustanova ili o hospitaliziranim pacijentima.

Ukupni postotak asimptomatskih infekcija u Sjevernoj Americi iznosio je oko 46 posto, u Europi oko 44 posto i u Aziji 28 posto.

- Visoki postotak asimptomatskih infekcija ukazuje na potencijalni rizik od asimptomatskog prijenosa zaraze u zajednicama, napisali su Min Liu i njegovi kolege s kineskog Sveučilišta Peking, javlja HRT.

Omikron se razmnožava drukčije od ostalih varijanti koronavirusa u dišnim putevima i u plućima, objavili su u srijedu znanstvenici, dodajući da bi to saznanje moglo pomoći u predviđanju djelovanja omikrona i posljedica koje ostavlja na zdravlje. Pojasnili su da se omikron brže razmnožava u dišnim putevima, a sporije u samim plućima, prenosi HRT.

U usporedbi s ranijom varijantom koronavirusa, deltom, omikron se umnožava 70 puta brže u tkivima koja oblažu dišne puteve, što može olakšati njegov prijenos s osobe na osobu, rekli su.

No u plućnim tkivima omikron se replicira 10 puta sporije od izvorne verzije koronavirusa, što bi moglo rezultirati razvojem manje teškog oblika bolesti.
