Znanstvenici Menziesovog zdravstvenog instituta Queensland pri australskom Sveučilištu Griffith te njihovi kolege s američke istraživačke ustanove Grad nade osmislili su antivirusni lijek protiv covida-19 koji virusu onemogućava dupliciranje tako štodirektno napada njegov genom, piše Financial Times.

Ispitivanje lijeka na miševima pokazalo je da lijek u plućima istih količinu virusa smanjuje za 99,9 posto, a znanstvenici koji su ga razvili tvrde da bi mogao biti učinkovit i protiv novih varijanti virusa koje se praktički stalno stvaraju mutacijama.

Lijek je dizajniran prvenstveno za borbu protiv koronavirusa SARS-CoV-2, ali i "bilo koje njegove nove varijante" koja bi se eventualno mogla pojaviti.

Suvoditelj projekta Nigel McMillan rekao je da nanočestice koje se koriste za dostavu lijeka unutar tijela čovjeka na temperaturi od 4 stupnja Celzija mogu ostati stabilne 12 mjeseci, a da iste na sobnoj temperaturi stabilne ostaju više od mjesec dana, što znači da bi se spomenuti lijek mogao koristiti za liječenje pacijenata u okruženjima "niske opskrbljenosti resursima".

McMillan je slikovito opisao djelovanje novog lijeka kao načelo "traži i uništi".

- Uništava virusni genom pa se virusne čestice više ne mogu razvijati. Nanočestice u organizmu kreću u svojevrsnu potragu za česticama virusa te ih uništavaju poput projektila s infracrvenim navođenjem koji reagira na toplinu, pojasnio je McMillan.

Iako je više kandidata za antivirusni lijek protiv covida-19 doguralo do kliničkih ispitivanja, znanstvenici diljem svijeta još se uvijek muče se s razvijanjem učinkovitog lijeka.

Eksperimentalni lijek Molnupiravir američke farmaceutske tvrtke Merck, koji je ista razvila u suradnji s tvrtkom Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, ulazi u treću fazu testiranja nakon što su pacijenti koji su sudjelovali u prethodne dvije faze na njega dobro reagirali.

Eksperimentalni lijek AT-527 švicarske farmaceutske tvrtke Roche, koji je ista razvila zajedno s tvrtkom Atea Pharmaceuticals, uskoro bi također trebao ući u treću fazu testiranja, a prethodno se pokazalo da ga oboljeli od hepatitisa C mogu slobodno koristiti te da u njima dolazi do antiviralne aktivnosti.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija objavila je u studenom 2020. godine studiju u kojoj stoji da je lijek remdesivir, koji se u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i Velikoj Britaniji koristio za liječenje oboljelih od covida-19, ne povećava šanse za preživljavanje oboljenja kod istih.

Znanstvenici Menziesovog zdravstvenog instituta Queensland pri australskom Sveučilištu Griffith te njihovi kolege s američke istraživačke ustanove Grad nade osmislili su antivirusni lijek protiv covida-19 koji virusu onemogućava dupliciranje tako štodirektno napada njegov genom, piše Financial Times.

Ispitivanje lijeka na miševima pokazalo je da lijek u plućima istih količinu virusa smanjuje za 99,9 posto, a znanstvenici koji su ga razvili tvrde da bi mogao biti učinkovit i protiv novih varijanti virusa koje se praktički stalno stvaraju mutacijama.

Lijek je dizajniran prvenstveno za borbu protiv koronavirusa SARS-CoV-2, ali i "bilo koje njegove nove varijante" koja bi se eventualno mogla pojaviti.

Suvoditelj projekta Nigel McMillan rekao je da nanočestice koje se koriste za dostavu lijeka unutar tijela čovjeka na temperaturi od 4 stupnja Celzija mogu ostati stabilne 12 mjeseci, a da iste na sobnoj temperaturi stabilne ostaju više od mjesec dana, što znači da bi se spomenuti lijek mogao koristiti za liječenje pacijenata u okruženjima "niske opskrbljenosti resursima".

McMillan je slikovito opisao djelovanje novog lijeka kao načelo "traži i uništi".

- Uništava virusni genom pa se virusne čestice više ne mogu razvijati. Nanočestice u organizmu kreću u svojevrsnu potragu za česticama virusa te ih uništavaju poput projektila s infracrvenim navođenjem koji reagira na toplinu, pojasnio je McMillan.

Iako je više kandidata za antivirusni lijek protiv covida-19 doguralo do kliničkih ispitivanja, znanstvenici diljem svijeta još se uvijek muče se s razvijanjem učinkovitog lijeka.

Eksperimentalni lijek Molnupiravir američke farmaceutske tvrtke Merck, koji je ista razvila u suradnji s tvrtkom Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, ulazi u treću fazu testiranja nakon što su pacijenti koji su sudjelovali u prethodne dvije faze na njega dobro reagirali.

Eksperimentalni lijek AT-527 švicarske farmaceutske tvrtke Roche, koji je ista razvila zajedno s tvrtkom Atea Pharmaceuticals, uskoro bi također trebao ući u treću fazu testiranja, a prethodno se pokazalo da ga oboljeli od hepatitisa C mogu slobodno koristiti te da u njima dolazi do antiviralne aktivnosti.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija objavila je u studenom 2020. godine studiju u kojoj stoji da je lijek remdesivir, koji se u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i Velikoj Britaniji koristio za liječenje oboljelih od covida-19, ne povećava šanse za preživljavanje oboljenja kod istih.

Znanstvenici optimistični nakon ispitivanja lijeka protiv Covida: Smanjuje količinu virusa za 99,9 posto, uništava ga poput navođenog projektila

Znanstvenici Menziesovog zdravstvenog instituta Queensland pri australskom Sveučilištu Griffith te njihovi kolege s američke istraživačke ustanove Grad nade osmislili su antivirusni lijek protiv covida-19 koji virusu onemogućava dupliciranje tako štodirektno napada njegov genom, piše Financial Times.

Ispitivanje lijeka na miševima pokazalo je da lijek u plućima istih količinu virusa smanjuje za 99,9 posto, a znanstvenici koji su ga razvili tvrde da bi mogao biti učinkovit i protiv novih varijanti virusa koje se praktički stalno stvaraju mutacijama.

Lijek je dizajniran prvenstveno za borbu protiv koronavirusa SARS-CoV-2, ali i "bilo koje njegove nove varijante" koja bi se eventualno mogla pojaviti.
