Proizvođaču električnih automobila Tesla naređeno je da plati gotovo 3,2 milijuna dolara bivšem radniku Afroamerikancu nakon što je dobio tužbu za rasno uznemiravanje, javlja BBC.

Owen Diaz, operater lifta od 2015. do 2016. u tvornici u Fremontu, bio je izložen rasno neprijateljskom radnom okruženju, utvrdila je federalna porota.

Međutim, isplata je smanjena za 98 posto u odnosu na 137 milijuna dolara koliko mu je prvobitno dodijeljeno 2021. Sudac je prošle godine presudio da je početni iznos bio previsok.

U ponedjeljak je Diazu dodijeljeno tri milijuna dolara kaznene odštete i 175.000 dolara odštete za emocionalni stres.

"Da nam je bilo dopušteno uvesti nove dokaze, presuda bi bila nula. Porota je dala sve od sebe s informacijama koje je imala. Poštujem odluku", rekao je izvršni direktor Tesle Elon Musk na Twitteru.

Musk nije naveo detalje o tome koje bi nove dokaze Tesla iznio.

U izvornoj tužbi, Diaz je tvrdio da su afroamerički radnici "naišli na prizor ravno iz ere Jima Crowa" u tvornici kompanije u Fremontu u Kaliforniji. Tvrdio je da se ovi radnici redovno suočavaju s rasističkim uvredama u tvornici i rasističkim grafitima u kupaonicama.

U tužbi je također navedeno da će zaposlenici nazivati područja u kojima je afroameričko osoblje radilo s rasističkim povijesnim nazivima, kao što je "plantaža". Navodi se da je jedan radnik čuo rasne uvrede "i to 50-100 puta dnevno".

Godine 2021. savezni sud u San Franciscu utvrdio je da Tesla nije poduzeo razumne korake da se uhvati u koštac sa zlostavljanjem, unatoč pritužbama nadzornicima. Porota je Diazu dodijelila 137 milijuna dolara odštete. U to vrijeme Tesla je osporio presudu, ali je rekao da priznaje da "nije savršen".

U travnju 2022. američki savezni sudac smanjio je Diazovu nagradu na 15 milijuna dolara i rekao da je naknada koju su odlučili porotnici "iznimno visoka".

Diazov odvjetnik pozvao porotnike da njegovom klijentu dodijele odštetu od gotovo 160 milijuna dolara. Međutim, Teslin odvjetnik Spiro, tvrdio je da advokati Diaza nisu uspjeli dokazati da je Tesla prouzročio bilo kakvu ozbiljnu, dugotrajnu štetu.

Proizvođaču električnih automobila Tesla naređeno je da plati gotovo 3,2 milijuna dolara bivšem radniku Afroamerikancu nakon što je dobio tužbu za rasno uznemiravanje, javlja BBC.

Owen Diaz, operater lifta od 2015. do 2016. u tvornici u Fremontu, bio je izložen rasno neprijateljskom radnom okruženju, utvrdila je federalna porota.

Međutim, isplata je smanjena za 98 posto u odnosu na 137 milijuna dolara koliko mu je prvobitno dodijeljeno 2021. Sudac je prošle godine presudio da je početni iznos bio previsok.

U ponedjeljak je Diazu dodijeljeno tri milijuna dolara kaznene odštete i 175.000 dolara odštete za emocionalni stres.

"Da nam je bilo dopušteno uvesti nove dokaze, presuda bi bila nula. Porota je dala sve od sebe s informacijama koje je imala. Poštujem odluku", rekao je izvršni direktor Tesle Elon Musk na Twitteru.

Musk nije naveo detalje o tome koje bi nove dokaze Tesla iznio.

U izvornoj tužbi, Diaz je tvrdio da su afroamerički radnici "naišli na prizor ravno iz ere Jima Crowa" u tvornici kompanije u Fremontu u Kaliforniji. Tvrdio je da se ovi radnici redovno suočavaju s rasističkim uvredama u tvornici i rasističkim grafitima u kupaonicama.

U tužbi je također navedeno da će zaposlenici nazivati područja u kojima je afroameričko osoblje radilo s rasističkim povijesnim nazivima, kao što je "plantaža". Navodi se da je jedan radnik čuo rasne uvrede "i to 50-100 puta dnevno".

Godine 2021. savezni sud u San Franciscu utvrdio je da Tesla nije poduzeo razumne korake da se uhvati u koštac sa zlostavljanjem, unatoč pritužbama nadzornicima. Porota je Diazu dodijelila 137 milijuna dolara odštete. U to vrijeme Tesla je osporio presudu, ali je rekao da priznaje da "nije savršen".

U travnju 2022. američki savezni sudac smanjio je Diazovu nagradu na 15 milijuna dolara i rekao da je naknada koju su odlučili porotnici "iznimno visoka".

Diazov odvjetnik pozvao porotnike da njegovom klijentu dodijele odštetu od gotovo 160 milijuna dolara. Međutim, Teslin odvjetnik Spiro, tvrdio je da advokati Diaza nisu uspjeli dokazati da je Tesla prouzročio bilo kakvu ozbiljnu, dugotrajnu štetu.

"Samo bacaju brojeve na ekran kao da je ovo neka vrsta igre", rekao je Spiro.

Zbog rasističkog zlostavljanja, Tesla mora bivšem radniku isplatiti 3,2 milijuna dolara! Oglasio se Musk

Proizvođaču električnih automobila Tesla naređeno je da plati gotovo 3,2 milijuna dolara bivšem radniku Afroamerikancu nakon što je dobio tužbu za rasno uznemiravanje, javlja BBC.

Owen Diaz, operater lifta od 2015. do 2016. u tvornici u Fremontu, bio je izložen rasno neprijateljskom radnom okruženju, utvrdila je federalna porota.

Međutim, isplata je smanjena za 98 posto u odnosu na 137 milijuna dolara koliko mu je prvobitno dodijeljeno 2021. Sudac je prošle godine presudio da je početni iznos bio previsok.

U ponedjeljak je Diazu dodijeljeno tri milijuna dolara kaznene odštete i 175.000 dolara odštete za emocionalni stres.

"Da nam je bilo dopušteno uvesti nove dokaze, presuda bi bila nula. Porota je dala sve od sebe s informacijama koje je imala. Poštujem odluku", rekao je...
