Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) upozorila je da je varijanta koronavirusa, za koju se vjeruje da je raspirila epidemiju koronavirusne bolesti u Indiji, otkrivena u uzorcima u 17 zemalja.

Varijanta B.1.617 otkrivena je u više od 1200 virusnih sekvencija unesenih u bazu podataka GISAID "iz najmanje 17 zemalja".

"Većina sekvencija je iz Indije, Velike Britanije, SAD-a i Singapura", objavio je u utorak WHO.

WHO je nedavno evidentirao varijantu B.1.617, koja obuhvaća nekoliko podvarijanti s ponešto drukčijim mutacijama i karakteristikama, kao "varijantu od interesa".

No nije je još proglasio "zabrinjavajućom varijantom" što bi značilo da je opasnija od izvorne varijante koronavirusa jer se, primjerice, brže širi, smrtonosnija je ili otpornija na cjepivo.

WHO je ipak priznao da preliminarne analize pokazuju da "B.1.617 ima bržu stopu širenja od drugih varijanti u Indiji što sugerira potencijalno veću zaraznost".

Dodaje se da i druge varijante koronavirusa u opticaju u Indiji pokazuju znakove veće zaraznosti pa bi kombinacija mogla igrati ulogu u trenutnom zamahu epidemijskog vala u zemlji.

"Studije pokazuju da je širenje drugog vala u Indiji mnogo brže nego prvog vala".

WHO dodaje da bi u brzom širenju drugog vala mogli igrati ulogu i manje pridržavanje javnozdravstvenih mjera kao i masovna okupljanja.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) upozorila je da je varijanta koronavirusa, za koju se vjeruje da je raspirila epidemiju koronavirusne bolesti u Indiji, otkrivena u uzorcima u 17 zemalja.

Varijanta B.1.617 otkrivena je u više od 1200 virusnih sekvencija unesenih u bazu podataka GISAID "iz najmanje 17 zemalja".

"Većina sekvencija je iz Indije, Velike Britanije, SAD-a i Singapura", objavio je u utorak WHO.

WHO je nedavno evidentirao varijantu B.1.617, koja obuhvaća nekoliko podvarijanti s ponešto drukčijim mutacijama i karakteristikama, kao "varijantu od interesa".

No nije je još proglasio "zabrinjavajućom varijantom" što bi značilo da je opasnija od izvorne varijante koronavirusa jer se, primjerice, brže širi, smrtonosnija je ili otpornija na cjepivo.

WHO je ipak priznao da preliminarne analize pokazuju da "B.1.617 ima bržu stopu širenja od drugih varijanti u Indiji što sugerira potencijalno veću zaraznost".

Dodaje se da i druge varijante koronavirusa u opticaju u Indiji pokazuju znakove veće zaraznosti pa bi kombinacija mogla igrati ulogu u trenutnom zamahu epidemijskog vala u zemlji.

"Studije pokazuju da je širenje drugog vala u Indiji mnogo brže nego prvog vala".

WHO dodaje da bi u brzom širenju drugog vala mogli igrati ulogu i manje pridržavanje javnozdravstvenih mjera kao i masovna okupljanja.
