Regulator Europske unije za lijekove u četvrtak je odobrio Pfizerov lijek protiv virusa covida-19 za liječenje odraslih s rizikom teške bolesti, dok se Europa trudi pojačati arsenal za borbu protiv omikron varijante.
Uvjetno odobrenje Europske agencije za lijekove (EMA), ako ga, kao i obično slijedi Europska komisija, dopušta državama članicama EU da uvedu lijek nakon što je regulator dao smjernice za njegovu hitnu upotrebu krajem prošle godine.
Italija, Njemačka i Belgija su među nekolicinom zemalja EU koje su kupile lijek pod nazivom Paxlovid.
Sjedinjene Američke Države su u prosincu odobrile Paxlovid i Merckov sličan lijek molnupiravir.
Merckov lijek također je pod revizijom u EU-u, ali je potrebno više vremena da ga se odobri jer je tvrtka revidirala svoje podatke o ispitivanju u studenom rekavši da je lijek znatno manje učinkovit nego što se mislilo.
Ovi oralni lijekovi, osobito Pfizerovi, smatraju se obećavajućim novim mogućnostima liječenja koje se mogu uzimati kod kuće na početku simptoma covida-19 kako bi se spriječile hospitalizacije i smrtni slučajevi.
Paxlovid, antivirusni režim s dva lijeka, bio je gotovo 90 posto učinkovit u prevenciji hospitalizacija i smrti pacijenata s visokim rizikom od teške bolesti, prema podacima iz kliničkog ispitivanja tvrtke.
Nedavni laboratorijski podaci sugeriraju da je lijek zadržao svoju učinkovitost i protiv omikron varijante.

Regulator Europske unije za lijekove u četvrtak je odobrio Pfizerov lijek protiv virusa covida-19 za liječenje odraslih s rizikom teške bolesti, dok se Europa trudi pojačati arsenal za borbu protiv omikron varijante.
Uvjetno odobrenje Europske agencije za lijekove (EMA), ako ga, kao i obično slijedi Europska komisija, dopušta državama članicama EU da uvedu lijek nakon što je regulator dao smjernice za njegovu hitnu upotrebu krajem prošle godine.
Italija, Njemačka i Belgija su među nekolicinom zemalja EU koje su kupile lijek pod nazivom Paxlovid.
Sjedinjene Američke Države su u prosincu odobrile Paxlovid i Merckov sličan lijek molnupiravir.
Merckov lijek također je pod revizijom u EU-u, ali je potrebno više vremena da ga se odobri jer je tvrtka revidirala svoje podatke o ispitivanju u studenom rekavši da je lijek znatno manje učinkovit nego što se mislilo.
Ovi oralni lijekovi, osobito Pfizerovi, smatraju se obećavajućim novim mogućnostima liječenja koje se mogu uzimati kod kuće na početku simptoma covida-19 kako bi se spriječile hospitalizacije i smrtni slučajevi.
Paxlovid, antivirusni režim s dva lijeka, bio je gotovo 90 posto učinkovit u prevenciji hospitalizacija i smrti pacijenata s visokim rizikom od teške bolesti, prema podacima iz kliničkog ispitivanja tvrtke.
Nedavni laboratorijski podaci sugeriraju da je lijek zadržao svoju učinkovitost i protiv omikron varijante.
