Donald Trump je u četvrtak stao u obranu policije  još jednom zaobilazeći raspravu o rasizmu i o policijskom nasilju, o kojima javnost očekuje da progovori dok traju prosvjedi što potresaju Ameriku.

Od početka prosvjeda američki predsjednik poziva na "zakon i red", ali nerado govori o bijesu koji je obuzeo milijune Amerikanaca nakon smrti Georgea Floyda koji se ugušio kada mu je policajac bijelac koljenom pritisnuo vrat.

U prigodi posjeta Dallasu spomenuo je, ne ulazeći u pojedinosti, da je u pripremi izvršna uredba koja će "potaknuti" policajce na veću profesionalnost. No posebno je branio potonje istaknuvši da policija mora biti "snažnija".

"Šugavih ovaca ima kamo god pođete. Mogu vam reći da ih u policiji nema puno", rekao je, opetujući spornu izjavu o potrebi da se "obuzda ulicu".

"Obuzdat ćemo ulicu bez grubosti", rekao je.

Republikanski milijarder je upozorio i na pretjerano generaliziranje.

"Moramo surađivati kako bismo suzbijali nesnošljivost i predrasude gdje god oni bili, ali nećemo ići naprijed i nećemo ozdraviti od naših rana etiketirajući desetke milijuna časnih Amerikanaca kao rasiste i nesnošljive", dodao je.

U Washingtonu se već danima šuška o snažnoj predsjedničkoj inicijativi poput svečanog govora u kojemu bi se progovorilo o rasnoj diskriminaciji u najvećoj svjetskoj sili. No bivši poduzetnik zasad se nije oglasio.

Njegova je šutnja napose upala u oči u utorak kada je George Floyd pokopan u Houstonu, gdje je njegov demokratski suparnik Joe Biden uputio videoporuku kojoj je dao osobnu  notu.

Stanar Bijele kuće koji gubi potporu u anketama u srijedu je najavio niz predizbornih skupova, napose u Oklahomi, na Floridi, u Arizoni i u Sjevernoj Karolini.

Prvi skup održat će u Tulsi, u Oklahomi, 19. lipnja, što je s obzirom na postojeće prilike potaknulo žestoke reakcije. U tom su se gradu 1921. dogodili nasilni neredi u kojima je, kažu povjesničari, ubijeno tristotinjak Afroamerikanaca.

Analiza anketa koju je provela mrežna stranica FiveThirtyEight, pokazuje da je prosječni postotak Amerikanaca koji podupiru Trumpa u neprestanom padu u zadnja tri tjedna. Sada je 41,1 posto, a 15. svibnja je bio 44,1 posto.

Donald Trump je u četvrtak stao u obranu policije  još jednom zaobilazeći raspravu o rasizmu i o policijskom nasilju, o kojima javnost očekuje da progovori dok traju prosvjedi što potresaju Ameriku.

Od početka prosvjeda američki predsjednik poziva na "zakon i red", ali nerado govori o bijesu koji je obuzeo milijune Amerikanaca nakon smrti Georgea Floyda koji se ugušio kada mu je policajac bijelac koljenom pritisnuo vrat.

U prigodi posjeta Dallasu spomenuo je, ne ulazeći u pojedinosti, da je u pripremi izvršna uredba koja će "potaknuti" policajce na veću profesionalnost. No posebno je branio potonje istaknuvši da policija mora biti "snažnija".

"Šugavih ovaca ima kamo god pođete. Mogu vam reći da ih u policiji nema puno", rekao je, opetujući spornu izjavu o potrebi da se "obuzda ulicu".

"Obuzdat ćemo ulicu bez grubosti", rekao je.

Republikanski milijarder je upozorio i na pretjerano generaliziranje.

"Moramo surađivati kako bismo suzbijali nesnošljivost i predrasude gdje god oni bili, ali nećemo ići naprijed i nećemo ozdraviti od naših rana etiketirajući desetke milijuna časnih Amerikanaca kao rasiste i nesnošljive", dodao je.

U Washingtonu se već danima šuška o snažnoj predsjedničkoj inicijativi poput svečanog govora u kojemu bi se progovorilo o rasnoj diskriminaciji u najvećoj svjetskoj sili. No bivši poduzetnik zasad se nije oglasio.

Njegova je šutnja napose upala u oči u utorak kada je George Floyd pokopan u Houstonu, gdje je njegov demokratski suparnik Joe Biden uputio videoporuku kojoj je dao osobnu  notu.

Stanar Bijele kuće koji gubi potporu u anketama u srijedu je najavio niz predizbornih skupova, napose u Oklahomi, na Floridi, u Arizoni i u Sjevernoj Karolini.

Prvi skup održat će u Tulsi, u Oklahomi, 19. lipnja, što je s obzirom na postojeće prilike potaknulo žestoke reakcije. U tom su se gradu 1921. dogodili nasilni neredi u kojima je, kažu povjesničari, ubijeno tristotinjak Afroamerikanaca.

Analiza anketa koju je provela mrežna stranica FiveThirtyEight, pokazuje da je prosječni postotak Amerikanaca koji podupiru Trumpa u neprestanom padu u zadnja tri tjedna. Sada je 41,1 posto, a 15. svibnja je bio 44,1 posto.

Donald Trump je u četvrtak stao u obranu policije  još jednom zaobilazeći raspravu o rasizmu i o policijskom nasilju, o kojima javnost očekuje da progovori dok traju prosvjedi što potresaju Ameriku.

Od početka prosvjeda američki predsjednik poziva na "zakon i red", ali nerado govori o bijesu koji je obuzeo milijune Amerikanaca nakon smrti Georgea Floyda koji se ugušio kada mu je policajac bijelac koljenom pritisnuo vrat.

U prigodi posjeta Dallasu spomenuo je, ne ulazeći u pojedinosti, da je u pripremi izvršna uredba koja će "potaknuti" policajce na veću profesionalnost. No posebno je branio potonje istaknuvši da policija mora biti "snažnija".
