Varijanta koronavirusa prvi put otkrivena prije nekoliko mjeseci u Britaniji sada "prevladava" i izaziva 98 posto svih zaraza u zemlji, rekla je u četvrtak vodeća britanska stručnjakinja.

Sharon Peacock kaže da britanska varijanta poznata kao B.1.1.7 postaje sve češća i u brojnim od stotinjak zemalja u koje se proširila.

"Za pedeset posto se lakše prenosi i to je tajna njezina uspjeha", rekla je Peacock, voditeljica skupine znanstvenika koji prate mutacije koronavirusa.

Varijanta B.1.1.7, otkrivena u rujnu 2020., ima 23 mutacije u genetskom kodu, što je razmjerno velik broj i stručnjaci vjeruju da je 40 do 70 posto zaraznija od ranije dominantnih varijanti.

Peacock je također rekla da britanska studija objavljena u srijedu pokazuje da B.1.1.7 donosi "znatno veću" smrtnost, odnosno da zaraženi tom varijantom umiru 30 do 70 posto više nego oni inficirani drugim varijantama.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija je objavila da je B.1.1.7 jedna od nekoliko "zabrinjavajućih varijanti", uz one koje su se pojavile u Južnoj Africi i u Brazilu.

Varijante su mutirane verzije virusa SARS-CoV-2 koji uzrokuje bolest covid-19, a ona je u svijetu dosad usmrtila više od 2,7 milijuna ljudi.

Varijanta koronavirusa prvi put otkrivena prije nekoliko mjeseci u Britaniji sada "prevladava" i izaziva 98 posto svih zaraza u zemlji, rekla je u četvrtak vodeća britanska stručnjakinja.

Sharon Peacock kaže da britanska varijanta poznata kao B.1.1.7 postaje sve češća i u brojnim od stotinjak zemalja u koje se proširila.

"Za pedeset posto se lakše prenosi i to je tajna njezina uspjeha", rekla je Peacock, voditeljica skupine znanstvenika koji prate mutacije koronavirusa.

Varijanta B.1.1.7, otkrivena u rujnu 2020., ima 23 mutacije u genetskom kodu, što je razmjerno velik broj i stručnjaci vjeruju da je 40 do 70 posto zaraznija od ranije dominantnih varijanti.

Peacock je također rekla da britanska studija objavljena u srijedu pokazuje da B.1.1.7 donosi "znatno veću" smrtnost, odnosno da zaraženi tom varijantom umiru 30 do 70 posto više nego oni inficirani drugim varijantama.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija je objavila da je B.1.1.7 jedna od nekoliko "zabrinjavajućih varijanti", uz one koje su se pojavile u Južnoj Africi i u Brazilu.

Varijante su mutirane verzije virusa SARS-CoV-2 koji uzrokuje bolest covid-19, a ona je u svijetu dosad usmrtila više od 2,7 milijuna ljudi.

Varijanta koronavirusa prvi put otkrivena prije nekoliko mjeseci u Britaniji sada "prevladava" i izaziva 98 posto svih zaraza u zemlji, rekla je u četvrtak vodeća britanska stručnjakinja.

Sharon Peacock kaže da britanska varijanta poznata kao B.1.1.7 postaje sve češća i u brojnim od stotinjak zemalja u koje se proširila.

"Za pedeset posto se lakše prenosi i to je tajna njezina uspjeha", rekla je Peacock, voditeljica skupine znanstvenika koji prate mutacije koronavirusa.

Varijanta B.1.1.7, otkrivena u rujnu 2020., ima 23 mutacije u genetskom kodu, što je razmjerno velik broj i stručnjaci vjeruju da je 40 do 70 posto zaraznija od ranije dominantnih varijanti.
