Visoki predstavnik EU za vanjsku i sigurnosnu politiku Josep Borrell ovog se tjedna „proslavio” rasističkim ispadom koji kao da je naručen iz Kremlja. Govoreći polaznicima Diplomatske akademije EU u belgijskom Bruggeu, Borrell je Europu nazvao „uređenim vrtom”, a ostatak svijeta „džunglom”.

- Europa je vrt. Sagradili smo vrt. Sve radi. To je najbolja kombinacija političke slobode, ekonomskog prosperiteta i društvene kohezije koju je čovječanstvo uspjelo izgraditi. Ostatak svijeta (..) nije baš vrt. Veliki dio ostatka svijeta je džungla, a džungla bi mogla napasti vrt – rekao je Borrell tog 10. listopada u Bruggeu.

Šef EU diplomacije nije se zaustavio na tim suprematističkim definicijama, već je u nastavku govora budućim diplomatima tumačio kako se Europa mora zaštititi od izvaneuropske „džungle”:

- O tome bi trebali brinuti vrtlari, ali neće zaštititi vrt zidom. Lijepi mali vrt okružen visokim zidovima koji sprečavaju prodor džungle neće biti rješenje, jer džungla brzo raste, a zid nikad neće biti dovoljno visok da zaštiti vrt. Vrtlari stoga moraju ići u džunglu. (...) Inače će nas ostatak svijeta napadati na razne načine i raznim sredstvima”, kazao je Borrell.

‘EU oživljava imperijalizam‘

Spomenuta Diplomatska akademija EU pokrenuta je ove godine s ciljem da se razvije „istinski europski diplomatski kor”. U pilot-programu prve godine sudjeluju 42 polaznika iz raznih EU institucija, ali i diplomati iz zemalja Zapadnog Balkana, Gruzije, Moldavije i Turske, uz dva kandidata iz Ukrajine.

- Vi ste prva generacija. Vi ste začetnici procesa i nadam se da će doći i mnogi drugi. Čuvajte vrt, budite dobri vrtlari. Ali vaša dužnost neće biti da se brinete o samom vrtu, već o džungli napolju - poručio im je Borrell, izazvavši zgražanje i u europskim medijima.

Tako slovenski novinar Igor Mekina, glavni urednik internetskog lista Insajder, u uredničkom komentaru piše da je Europska unija „očito potpuno spremna za oživljavanje imperijalizma iz 19. stoljeća”.

„A svi znamo kako su europski kolonizatori stoljećima upravljali ovom ‘džunglom‘. Obično bajunetima, sabljama, puškama, topovima, silovanjima, lancima ili bombama. A sada je u vrhu europske diplomacije čovjek koji to i dalje želi”, piše Mekina, te nastavlja:

„Borrell, međutim, ne shvaća da se svijet promijenio. I da je njegova slika civiliziranog vrta, izvan kojeg je džungla, rasistička, nepouzdana i nadasve potpuno pogrešna. I to su ljudi koji vode EU...”, rezignirano zaključuje slovenski list.

Inače, ovo nije prvi put da šef EU diplomacije koristi iste diskriminirajuće analogije. I u ožujku je za španjolski list El Mundo usporedio EU s „predivnim i urednim vrtom” koji je okružen „kaotičnom džunglom bez zakona”.

- Ako ne želimo da džungla pojede naš vrt, moramo se probuditi - rekao je tada prvi europski diplomat.

Došao Zaharovoj na volej

Ovog tjedna Borrell je privukao pažnju i izjavom da će, ako Putin upotrijebi nuklearno oružje, Zapad „uništiti rusku vojsku”. To je neke podsjetilo na jednu drugu vojnu prognozu, koju je Borrell dao još 24. ožujka u intervjuu za španjolsku televiziju TVE, kada je pozvao sve EU članice da nastave naoružavati ukrajinsku vojsku, „jer će sve biti odlučeno u idućih 15 dana”.

Danas, sedam mjeseci kasnije, jasno je koliko je Borrel loš i naivan prognozer. No sada se iskazuje i kao diplomatski diletant, jer je svojim etiketiranjem ostatka svijeta kao „džungle” navukao na Europu bijes tog istog ostatka svijeta. Sve ono što Putin govori o neokolonijalnom pogledu Zapada na Treći svijet, Borrell je tom ovotjednom izjavom potvrdio.

Moskva je to odmah propagandno iskoristila. Glasnogovornica ruskog ministarstva vanjskih poslova Marija Zaharova u oštroj je osudi Borrellove izjave podsjetila da je europski „vrt” izgrađen pljačkom „džungle” tijekom kolonijalizma:

„Da nastavim s ovom analogijom, europski je vrtlar u vegetativnom stanju. Ali možemo ozbiljno reći da je Europa izgradila ovaj ‘vrt‘ barbarskom pljačkom ‘džungle‘. Borrell se nije mogao bolje izraziti: najuspješniji sustav na svijetu, stvoren u Europi, izrastao je iz kolonija koje su bile nemilosrdno ugnjetavane”, poručila je Zaharova.

Moglo bi se reći: uz ovakve neprijatelje poput Borrella, Rusiji ne trebaju prijatelji. Upravo u trenucima dok se Zapad i Rusija bore za naklonost ostatka svijeta, šef EU diplomacije svojim istupima daje „vjetar u jedra” ruskom narativu.

Neki čak zbog toga misle da je Borrell prikriveni „ruski igrač”, ali prije će biti da je posrijedi „samo” tragična nekompetentnost glavnog europskog diplomata. Koja bi se Europi mogla razbiti o glavu.

Visoki predstavnik EU za vanjsku i sigurnosnu politiku Josep Borrell ovog se tjedna „proslavio” rasističkim ispadom koji kao da je naručen iz Kremlja. Govoreći polaznicima Diplomatske akademije EU u belgijskom Bruggeu, Borrell je Europu nazvao „uređenim vrtom”, a ostatak svijeta „džunglom”.

- Europa je vrt. Sagradili smo vrt. Sve radi. To je najbolja kombinacija političke slobode, ekonomskog prosperiteta i društvene kohezije koju je čovječanstvo uspjelo izgraditi. Ostatak svijeta (..) nije baš vrt. Veliki dio ostatka svijeta je džungla, a džungla bi mogla napasti vrt – rekao je Borrell tog 10. listopada u Bruggeu.

Šef EU diplomacije nije se zaustavio na tim suprematističkim definicijama, već je u nastavku govora budućim diplomatima tumačio kako se Europa mora zaštititi od izvaneuropske „džungle”:

- O tome bi trebali brinuti vrtlari, ali neće zaštititi vrt zidom. Lijepi mali vrt okružen visokim zidovima koji sprečavaju prodor džungle neće biti rješenje, jer džungla brzo raste, a zid nikad neće biti dovoljno visok da zaštiti vrt. Vrtlari stoga moraju ići u džunglu. (...) Inače će nas ostatak svijeta napadati na razne načine i raznim sredstvima”, kazao je Borrell.

‘EU oživljava imperijalizam‘

Spomenuta Diplomatska akademija EU pokrenuta je ove godine s ciljem da se razvije „istinski europski diplomatski kor”. U pilot-programu prve godine sudjeluju 42 polaznika iz raznih EU institucija, ali i diplomati iz zemalja Zapadnog Balkana, Gruzije, Moldavije i Turske, uz dva kandidata iz Ukrajine.

- Vi ste prva generacija. Vi ste začetnici procesa i nadam se da će doći i mnogi drugi. Čuvajte vrt, budite dobri vrtlari. Ali vaša dužnost neće biti da se brinete o samom vrtu, već o džungli napolju - poručio im je Borrell, izazvavši zgražanje i u europskim medijima.

Tako slovenski novinar Igor Mekina, glavni urednik internetskog lista Insajder, u uredničkom komentaru piše da je Europska unija „očito potpuno spremna za oživljavanje imperijalizma iz 19. stoljeća”.

„A svi znamo kako su europski kolonizatori stoljećima upravljali ovom ‘džunglom‘. Obično bajunetima, sabljama, puškama, topovima, silovanjima, lancima ili bombama. A sada je u vrhu europske diplomacije čovjek koji to i dalje želi”, piše Mekina, te nastavlja:

„Borrell, međutim, ne shvaća da se svijet promijenio. I da je njegova slika civiliziranog vrta, izvan kojeg je džungla, rasistička, nepouzdana i nadasve potpuno pogrešna. I to su ljudi koji vode EU...”, rezignirano zaključuje slovenski list.

Inače, ovo nije prvi put da šef EU diplomacije koristi iste diskriminirajuće analogije. I u ožujku je za španjolski list El Mundo usporedio EU s „predivnim i urednim vrtom” koji je okružen „kaotičnom džunglom bez zakona”.

- Ako ne želimo da džungla pojede naš vrt, moramo se probuditi - rekao je tada prvi europski diplomat.

Došao Zaharovoj na volej

Ovog tjedna Borrell je privukao pažnju i izjavom da će, ako Putin upotrijebi nuklearno oružje, Zapad „uništiti rusku vojsku”. To je neke podsjetilo na jednu drugu vojnu prognozu, koju je Borrell dao još 24. ožujka u intervjuu za španjolsku televiziju TVE, kada je pozvao sve EU članice da nastave naoružavati ukrajinsku vojsku, „jer će sve biti odlučeno u idućih 15 dana”.

Danas, sedam mjeseci kasnije, jasno je koliko je Borrel loš i naivan prognozer. No sada se iskazuje i kao diplomatski diletant, jer je svojim etiketiranjem ostatka svijeta kao „džungle” navukao na Europu bijes tog istog ostatka svijeta. Sve ono što Putin govori o neokolonijalnom pogledu Zapada na Treći svijet, Borrell je tom ovotjednom izjavom potvrdio.

Moskva je to odmah propagandno iskoristila. Glasnogovornica ruskog ministarstva vanjskih poslova Marija Zaharova u oštroj je osudi Borrellove izjave podsjetila da je europski „vrt” izgrađen pljačkom „džungle” tijekom kolonijalizma:

„Da nastavim s ovom analogijom, europski je vrtlar u vegetativnom stanju. Ali možemo ozbiljno reći da je Europa izgradila ovaj ‘vrt‘ barbarskom pljačkom ‘džungle‘. Borrell se nije mogao bolje izraziti: najuspješniji sustav na svijetu, stvoren u Europi, izrastao je iz kolonija koje su bile nemilosrdno ugnjetavane”, poručila je Zaharova.

Moglo bi se reći: uz ovakve neprijatelje poput Borrella, Rusiji ne trebaju prijatelji. Upravo u trenucima dok se Zapad i Rusija bore za naklonost ostatka svijeta, šef EU diplomacije svojim istupima daje „vjetar u jedra” ruskom narativu.

Neki čak zbog toga misle da je Borrell prikriveni „ruski igrač”, ali prije će biti da je posrijedi „samo” tragična nekompetentnost glavnog europskog diplomata. Koja bi se Europi mogla razbiti o glavu.
