Nizozemski premijer Mark Rutte u ponedjeljak se ispričao za kolonijalnu povijest svoje zemlje te za njezine posljedice za koje je priznao da traju i danas. 

"Danas se ispričavam", rekao je Rutte u govoru u Nizozemskom nacionalnom arhivu.

“Stoljećima su nizozemska država i njeni predstavnici omogućavali i poticali ropstvo i od toga profitirali“, nastavio je nizozemski premijer. 

"Istina je da nitko tko danas živi ne snosi nikakvu osobnu krivnju za ropstvo, no nizozemska država snosi odgovornost za ogromnu patnju onih koji su bili porobljeni, kao i njihovih potomaka."

Rutteova isprika dolazi u vrijeme preispitivanja kolonijalne prošlosti Nizozemske, što uključuje napore da se vrate opljačkane umjetnine kao i borbu s rasizmom.

Isprika je naišla na otpor skupina koje kažu da je ona trebala doći od kralja Willema-Alexandera, u bivšoj koloniji Surinamu 1. srpnja 2023. - na 160. obljetnicu oslobađanja robova u toj zemlji. 

Rutte je najavio da nizozemska vlada šalje predstavnike u Surinam, kao i na karipske otoke koji su ostali dio Kraljevine Nizozemske s različitim stupnjevima autonomije: Curacao, Sint Maarten, Arubu, Bonaire, Sabu i Sint Eustatius.

Više od 250 godina Nizozemska je imala kolonije u, između ostalog, današnjoj Indoneziji, Južnoafričkoj Republici te na karipskom području. Nizozemci su posjedovali robove koji su često nehumano tretirani. Posljednji masakr koji su počinili dogodio se u Indoneziji 1947. godine.

Nizozemski premijer Mark Rutte u ponedjeljak se ispričao za kolonijalnu povijest svoje zemlje te za njezine posljedice za koje je priznao da traju i danas. 

"Danas se ispričavam", rekao je Rutte u govoru u Nizozemskom nacionalnom arhivu.

“Stoljećima su nizozemska država i njeni predstavnici omogućavali i poticali ropstvo i od toga profitirali“, nastavio je nizozemski premijer. 

"Istina je da nitko tko danas živi ne snosi nikakvu osobnu krivnju za ropstvo, no nizozemska država snosi odgovornost za ogromnu patnju onih koji su bili porobljeni, kao i njihovih potomaka."

Rutteova isprika dolazi u vrijeme preispitivanja kolonijalne prošlosti Nizozemske, što uključuje napore da se vrate opljačkane umjetnine kao i borbu s rasizmom.

Isprika je naišla na otpor skupina koje kažu da je ona trebala doći od kralja Willema-Alexandera, u bivšoj koloniji Surinamu 1. srpnja 2023. - na 160. obljetnicu oslobađanja robova u toj zemlji. 

Rutte je najavio da nizozemska vlada šalje predstavnike u Surinam, kao i na karipske otoke koji su ostali dio Kraljevine Nizozemske s različitim stupnjevima autonomije: Curacao, Sint Maarten, Arubu, Bonaire, Sabu i Sint Eustatius.

Više od 250 godina Nizozemska je imala kolonije u, između ostalog, današnjoj Indoneziji, Južnoafričkoj Republici te na karipskom području. Nizozemci su posjedovali robove koji su često nehumano tretirani. Posljednji masakr koji su počinili dogodio se u Indoneziji 1947. godine.

Nizozemski premijer Mark Rutte u ponedjeljak se ispričao za kolonijalnu povijest svoje zemlje te za njezine posljedice za koje je priznao da traju i danas. 

"Danas se ispričavam", rekao je Rutte u govoru u Nizozemskom nacionalnom arhivu.

“Stoljećima su nizozemska država i njeni predstavnici omogućavali i poticali ropstvo i od toga profitirali“, nastavio je nizozemski premijer. 

"Istina je da nitko tko danas živi ne snosi nikakvu osobnu krivnju za ropstvo, no nizozemska država snosi odgovornost za ogromnu patnju onih koji su bili porobljeni, kao i njihovih potomaka."

Rutteova isprika dolazi u vrijeme preispitivanja kolonijalne prošlosti Nizozemske, što uključuje napore da se vrate opljačkane umjetnine kao i borbu s rasizmom.
