Podrijetlo virusa COVID-19 i dalje zabrinjava, jer gotovo godinu i pol dana od izbijanja pandemije virus nije izoliran iz divljih izvora, niti jedna životinja nije identificirana kao srednja karika u prijenosu na čovjeka, a Kina nije bila potpuno otvorena, tvrdi Radio Slobodna Evropa. 

Nedavna procjena stručnjaka iz tima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO) u Kini također nije pružila bitne nove informacije o podrijetlu virusa. Znanstvenici su tijekom protekle godine raspravljali o mogućem objašnjenju "prirodnog izgleda" virusa SARS-CoV-2, koji je tijekom 2019. slučajno prešao s šišmiša ili nekih drugih životinjskih vrsta na ljude.

Tijekom 2020. godine nekoliko uglednih svjetskih medija umanjilo je mogućnost da je ljudska pogreška dovela do širenja virusa nakon što je skupina uglednih znanstvenika s iskustvom ovu ideju opisala kao "krajnje nevjerojatnu".

Teorija je opovrgavana

 

Naime, u veljači 2020. godine 27 znanstvenika supotpisalo je pismo u časopisu The Lancet, potvrđujući prirodno podrijetlo virusa i kritizirajući napore da krivicu za izbijanje zaraze prebace na kineske znanstvenike. Potpisnici ovog pisma osudili su "glasine i pogrešne informacije" o podrijetlu virusa i "oštro osudili teorije zavjere koje sugeriraju da COVID-19 nije porijeklom iz prirode". Svoje su mišljenje temeljili na prvim objavljenim podacima, ali nisu pružili detaljne znanstvene argumente koji podržavaju prirodno podrijetlo virusa.

No, posljednjih tjedana nekoliko je znanstvenika, prema časopisu Vox, govorilo o mogućnosti da je virus "pobjegao" iz laboratorija u Kini i zahtijevalo je da se ovaj scenarij adekvatno istraži. Pandemija COVID-19 ilustrativno je pokazala da je znanost presudna u borbi protiv bolesti, ali i da stručnjaci mogu pogrešno protumačiti postojeće stanje, napominje Vox. Navodi primjer Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije koja je u siječnju 2020. rekla da "nema jasnih dokaza" prenošenja SARS-CoV-2, nastavlja spomenuti medij.

Ali, kako još uvijek nema dovoljno dokaza o samom porijeklu virusa znanstvena zajednica sve glasnije poziva na utvrđivanje činjenica i dalje istraživanje.

"Moramo ozbiljno shvatiti hipoteze o prirodnom porijeklu i curenju iz laboratorija dok ne dobijemo dovoljno podataka", navodi se u pismu objavljenom u časopisu Science u svibnju 2021. godine, koje supotpisuje čak 18 stručnjaka.

"Temeljita istraga mora biti transparentna, objektivna i vođena podacima, inkluzivna za široku ekspertizu, predmet nezavisnog nadzora i trena da odgovorno upravlja minimiziranjem uticaja sukoba interesa. Agencije za javno zdravstvo i istraživačke laboratorije moraju svoje evidencije otvoriti za javnost. Istraživači bi trebali dokumetovati istinitost i porijeklo podataka na osnovu kojih se provode analize i donose zaključci, tako da ih mogu ponoviti nezavisni stručnjaci", stoji u ovom pismu.

Oklijevanje stručnjaka da javno prezentiraju hipotezu "curenja iz laboratorija" jednim dijelom dolazi iz zbog toga što je administracija bivšeg američkog predsjednika Donalda Trumpa ustvrdila, bez jasnih dokaza, da vjeruje u ovu teoriju, dok je pokušavala da iznađe načine kako bi optužila Kinu za pandemiju.

Ideja o "curenju" iz laboratorija dobila je dodatno gorivo kada je američki predsjednik Joe Biden naredio svojim obavještajnim službama da "udvostruče" napore u istrazi o porijeklu COVID-19, uključujući i teorije da je došao iz laboratorije u Kini.

Kako je došlo do promjene stava o mogućem incidentu u laboratoriju?

Kao prvo, napori da se otkrije prirodni izvor virusa do sada se nisu pokazali uspješnim. Drugo, rani napori da se ukaže na curenje iz laboratorija često su se miješali sa špekulacijama da je virus namjerno kreiran kao biološko oružje oružje, piše The Seattle Times.

Alina Chan, sa Instituta na Harvardu specijalizirana je za genetski inženjering te je jedna je od potpisnika pisma u magazinu Science u kojem se traži temeljita istraga, za američki NBC News je slikovito opisala situaciju: "Tragovi su posvuda i oni često ne vode u jednom pravcu. Zašto je teško dokazati je li virus korone 'pobjegao' iz laboratorija?

U ožujku 2020. godine objavljen je članak u časopisu Nature Medicine koji je pružio niz znanstvenih argumenata koji idu u prilog prirodnom porijeklu virusa uključujući to da je hipoteza o prirodnom nastanku vjerojatna jer je to uobičajeni mehanizam nastavka.

Međutim, još uvijek mnogo pitanja ostaje bez odgovora, piše magazin The Conversation, napominjući da nije poznato kako je virus stigao u Wuhan, kako se njegov slijed razvio da omogući prijenos zaraze na ljude i pod kojim uvjetima su zaraženi prvi ljudi koji su došli u kontakt sa virusom, Radio Slobodna Evropa.

Podrijetlo virusa COVID-19 i dalje zabrinjava, jer gotovo godinu i pol dana od izbijanja pandemije virus nije izoliran iz divljih izvora, niti jedna životinja nije identificirana kao srednja karika u prijenosu na čovjeka, a Kina nije bila potpuno otvorena, tvrdi Radio Slobodna Evropa. 

Nedavna procjena stručnjaka iz tima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO) u Kini također nije pružila bitne nove informacije o podrijetlu virusa. Znanstvenici su tijekom protekle godine raspravljali o mogućem objašnjenju "prirodnog izgleda" virusa SARS-CoV-2, koji je tijekom 2019. slučajno prešao s šišmiša ili nekih drugih životinjskih vrsta na ljude.

Tijekom 2020. godine nekoliko uglednih svjetskih medija umanjilo je mogućnost da je ljudska pogreška dovela do širenja virusa nakon što je skupina uglednih znanstvenika s iskustvom ovu ideju opisala kao "krajnje nevjerojatnu".

Teorija je opovrgavana

 

Naime, u veljači 2020. godine 27 znanstvenika supotpisalo je pismo u časopisu The Lancet, potvrđujući prirodno podrijetlo virusa i kritizirajući napore da krivicu za izbijanje zaraze prebace na kineske znanstvenike. Potpisnici ovog pisma osudili su "glasine i pogrešne informacije" o podrijetlu virusa i "oštro osudili teorije zavjere koje sugeriraju da COVID-19 nije porijeklom iz prirode". Svoje su mišljenje temeljili na prvim objavljenim podacima, ali nisu pružili detaljne znanstvene argumente koji podržavaju prirodno podrijetlo virusa.

No, posljednjih tjedana nekoliko je znanstvenika, prema časopisu Vox, govorilo o mogućnosti da je virus "pobjegao" iz laboratorija u Kini i zahtijevalo je da se ovaj scenarij adekvatno istraži. Pandemija COVID-19 ilustrativno je pokazala da je znanost presudna u borbi protiv bolesti, ali i da stručnjaci mogu pogrešno protumačiti postojeće stanje, napominje Vox. Navodi primjer Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije koja je u siječnju 2020. rekla da "nema jasnih dokaza" prenošenja SARS-CoV-2, nastavlja spomenuti medij. 

Nema dokaza

Ali, kako još uvijek nema dovoljno dokaza o samom porijeklu virusa znanstvena zajednica sve glasnije poziva na utvrđivanje činjenica i dalje istraživanje.

"Moramo ozbiljno shvatiti hipoteze o prirodnom porijeklu i curenju iz laboratorija dok ne dobijemo dovoljno podataka", navodi se u pismu objavljenom u časopisu Science u svibnju 2021. godine, koje supotpisuje čak 18 stručnjaka.

"Temeljita istraga mora biti transparentna, objektivna i vođena podacima, inkluzivna za široku ekspertizu, predmet nezavisnog nadzora i trena da odgovorno upravlja minimiziranjem uticaja sukoba interesa. Agencije za javno zdravstvo i istraživačke laboratorije moraju svoje evidencije otvoriti za javnost. Istraživači bi trebali dokumetovati istinitost i porijeklo podataka na osnovu kojih se provode analize i donose zaključci, tako da ih mogu ponoviti nezavisni stručnjaci", stoji u ovom pismu.

Oklijevanje stručnjaka da javno prezentiraju hipotezu "curenja iz laboratorija" jednim dijelom dolazi iz zbog toga što je administracija bivšeg američkog predsjednika Donalda Trumpa ustvrdila, bez jasnih dokaza, da vjeruje u ovu teoriju, dok je pokušavala da iznađe načine kako bi optužila Kinu za pandemiju.

Ideja o "curenju" iz laboratorija dobila je dodatno gorivo kada je američki predsjednik Joe Biden naredio svojim obavještajnim službama da "udvostruče" napore u istrazi o porijeklu COVID-19, uključujući i teorije da je došao iz laboratorije u Kini.

Kako je došlo do promjene stava o mogućem incidentu u laboratoriju?

Kao prvo, napori da se otkrije prirodni izvor virusa do sada se nisu pokazali uspješnim. Drugo, rani napori da se ukaže na curenje iz laboratorija često su se miješali sa špekulacijama da je virus namjerno kreiran kao biološko oružje oružje, piše The Seattle Times.

Alina Chan, sa Instituta na Harvardu specijalizirana je za genetski inženjering te je jedna je od potpisnika pisma u magazinu Science u kojem se traži temeljita istraga, za američki NBC News je slikovito opisala situaciju: "Tragovi su posvuda i oni često ne vode u jednom pravcu. To je kao da je cijeli put posut tragovima".

Zašto je teško dokazati je li virus korone 'pobjegao' iz laboratorija?

U ožujku 2020. godine objavljen je članak u časopisu Nature Medicine koji je pružio niz znanstvenih argumenata koji idu u prilog prirodnom porijeklu virusa uključujući to da je hipoteza o prirodnom nastanku vjerojatna jer je to uobičajeni mehanizam nastavka.

Međutim, još uvijek mnogo pitanja ostaje bez odgovora, piše magazin The Conversation, napominjući da nije poznato kako je virus stigao u Wuhan, kako se njegov slijed razvio da omogući prijenos zaraze na ljude i pod kojim uvjetima su zaraženi prvi ljudi koji su došli u kontakt sa virusom, Radio Slobodna Evropa.
