Papa Franjo stigao je u nedjelju u Ujedinjene Arapske Emirate (UAE), prvi posjet jednog pape Arapskom poluotoku gdje on želi graditi mostove s islamom i potvrditi međuvjerski dijalog kao kamen temeljac svog papinstva.
Papa, koji je sletio u zračnu luku u Abu Dhabiju, boravit će u UAE do utorka a dotad će se sastati s muslimanskim političkim i vjerskih vođama te održati misu na otvorenom.
On se nada da će posjet Arapskom poluotoku doprinijeti pisanju nove stranice u odnosima između religija.
"Sretan sam što mogu u vašoj dragoj zemlji otvoriti novu stranicu odnosa između religija, potvrđujući time da smo braća, iako različiti", rekao je u video poruci građanima UAE-a objavljenoj u četvrtak.
Franjo je kao temelj svoga papinstva odredio jačanje veza između kršćanstva i islama.
Njegovi redoviti apeli da se prihvate migranti i izbjeglice, većinom muslimani, pomogli su mu osigurati podršku zajednice, baš kao i kada je papinskim avionom tri muslimanske obitelji prevezao s grčkog otoka Lezbosa do Vatikana.
Franjo se proteklih godina dvaput susreo sa šeikom Ahmedom al-Tajebom, imamom kairskog sveučilišta Al-Azhara, najuglednije ustanove sunitskog islama.
Šeik al-Tajeb, koji je vrlo kritičan prema džihadistima koji crpe inspiraciju iz tvrdokornog salafizma, s Franjom će se ponovo sastati u ponedjeljak na međunarodnom međureligijskom sastanku u Abu Dabiju.
Papa Franjo pazi da ne koristi pojam "islamist" kada se neki napad izvrši u ime islama, preferirajući korištenje riječi "terorist".
On je 2014. pozvao muslimanske političke i vjerske vođe i učenjake da nedvosmisleno osude terorizam, izvor islamofobije.
Također, kršćanske, židovske i muslimanske fundamentaliste Franjo postavlja na istu razinu, na "devijacije".
Prije tri godine odbio je "povezati islam s nasiljem" odgovarajući na pitanje o ubojstvu francuskog svećenika Jacquesa Hamela koje su počinila dva islamska militanta.
Tada je ustvrdio da je "svijet u ratu", ali je tvrdio da religija nije uzrok.
"Kada govorim o ratu, govorim o ratovima zbog interesa, novca, resursa, a ne religije. Sve religije žele mir, neki drugi žele rat", rekao je Papa Franjo.
Papa će posjet Emiratima, zemlji koja je mnogo tolerantnija od, primjerice, Saudijske Arabije gdje crkve uopće nisu dopuštene, završiti u utorak, misom na otvorenom.
U Emiratima živi oko 9,7 milijuna stanovnika, od kojih je milijun katolika.

Papa Franjo stigao je u nedjelju u Ujedinjene Arapske Emirate (UAE), prvi posjet jednog pape Arapskom poluotoku gdje on želi graditi mostove s islamom i potvrditi međuvjerski dijalog kao kamen temeljac svog papinstva.
Papa, koji je sletio u zračnu luku u Abu Dhabiju, boravit će u UAE do utorka a dotad će se sastati s muslimanskim političkim i vjerskih vođama te održati misu na otvorenom.
On se nada da će posjet Arapskom poluotoku doprinijeti pisanju nove stranice u odnosima između religija.
"Sretan sam što mogu u vašoj dragoj zemlji otvoriti novu stranicu odnosa između religija, potvrđujući time da smo braća, iako različiti", rekao je u video poruci građanima UAE-a objavljenoj u četvrtak.
Franjo je kao temelj svoga papinstva odredio jačanje veza između kršćanstva i islama.
Njegovi redoviti apeli da se prihvate migranti i izbjeglice, većinom muslimani, pomogli su mu osigurati podršku zajednice, baš kao i kada je papinskim avionom tri muslimanske obitelji prevezao s grčkog otoka Lezbosa do Vatikana.
Franjo se proteklih godina dvaput susreo sa šeikom Ahmedom al-Tajebom, imamom kairskog sveučilišta Al-Azhara, najuglednije ustanove sunitskog islama.
Šeik al-Tajeb, koji je vrlo kritičan prema džihadistima koji crpe inspiraciju iz tvrdokornog salafizma, s Franjom će se ponovo sastati u ponedjeljak na međunarodnom međureligijskom sastanku u Abu Dabiju.
Papa Franjo pazi da ne koristi pojam "islamist" kada se neki napad izvrši u ime islama, preferirajući korištenje riječi "terorist".
On je 2014. pozvao muslimanske političke i vjerske vođe i učenjake da nedvosmisleno osude terorizam, izvor islamofobije.
Također, kršćanske, židovske i muslimanske fundamentaliste Franjo postavlja na istu razinu, na "devijacije".
Prije tri godine odbio je "povezati islam s nasiljem" odgovarajući na pitanje o ubojstvu francuskog svećenika Jacquesa Hamela koje su počinila dva islamska militanta.
Tada je ustvrdio da je "svijet u ratu", ali je tvrdio da religija nije uzrok.
"Kada govorim o ratu, govorim o ratovima zbog interesa, novca, resursa, a ne religije. Sve religije žele mir, neki drugi žele rat", rekao je Papa Franjo.
Papa će posjet Emiratima, zemlji koja je mnogo tolerantnija od, primjerice, Saudijske Arabije gdje crkve uopće nisu dopuštene, završiti u utorak, misom na otvorenom.
U Emiratima živi oko 9,7 milijuna stanovnika, od kojih je milijun katolika.
