Cjepivo BioNTech/Pfizer protiv koronavirusa kod starijih osoba proizvodi tri i pol puta veći odgovor atitijela kad se druga doza odgodi do 12 tjedana nakon prve, pokazalo je britansko istraživanje.

Studija, čiji su rezultati objavljeni u petak, prva je koja izravno uspoređuje stvaranje antitijela nakon trotjednog razmaka dvije doze što preporučuje Pfizer/BioNTech i produljenog razmaka do 12 tjedana između davanja dvije doze, što su u nestašici cjepiva mnoge zemlje uvele kako bi obuhvatile mnogo više ljudi prvom dozom cjepiva i tako barem djelomično zaštitile veći broj ljudi od smrtonosne bolesti.

Nakon što je Britanija također uvela veći razmak između dvije doze cjepiva proizvođači cjepiva tvrtke Pfizer i BioNTech kazale su da nema podataka koji bi dali znanstvenu podlogu takvoj odluci.

U mnogim se europskim zemljama počelo davati cjepivo Pfizer/BioNTech prije nego što je donesena odluka o produljenju razmaka između dvije doze, pa je mali broj osoba docijepljen drugom dozom nakon 21 dan, prema preporuci proizvođača.

Studija koja još nije prošla znanstvenu recenziju obuhvatila je 175 osoba u dobi od 80 do 99 godina i utvrdila je da produžavanje razmaka između dvije doze povećava do 3,5 puta vrhunac stvaranja antitijela u usporedbi s osobama koje su drugu dozu primile nakon tri tjedna.

Antitijela su dio imunog sustava, a cjepivo potiče i stvaranje T stanica koje također sudjeluju u obrani organizma od zaraza.

Vrhunac T stanica bio je veći u skupini koja je primila drugu dozu nakon tri tjedna pa su autori istraživanja upozorili da se još ne mogu izvući zaključci o stupnju zaštite koju neka osoba ima ovisno o razmaku između dvije doze cjepiva.

No, uzimanjem u obzir tih podataka u kombinaciji sa stupnjem zaštite koji pruža već prva doza cjepiva od hospitalizacije i smrti od koronavirusne bolesti, Zavod za javno zdravstvo Engleske ocijenio je da studija dodatno podupire britanski pristup cijepljenju kojim je povećan razmak između dviju doza cjepiva i tako prvom dozom obuhvaćen i zaštićen veći broj osoba.

"Pristup za koji se Britanija odlučila odgađanjem druge doze cjepiva stvarno se isplatio", kazao je Gayatri Amirthalingam, epidemiolog u engleskom zavodu za javno zdravstvo.

Cjepivo BioNTech/Pfizer protiv koronavirusa kod starijih osoba proizvodi tri i pol puta veći odgovor atitijela kad se druga doza odgodi do 12 tjedana nakon prve, pokazalo je britansko istraživanje.

Studija, čiji su rezultati objavljeni u petak, prva je koja izravno uspoređuje stvaranje antitijela nakon trotjednog razmaka dvije doze što preporučuje Pfizer/BioNTech i produljenog razmaka do 12 tjedana između davanja dvije doze, što su u nestašici cjepiva mnoge zemlje uvele kako bi obuhvatile mnogo više ljudi prvom dozom cjepiva i tako barem djelomično zaštitile veći broj ljudi od smrtonosne bolesti.

Nakon što je Britanija također uvela veći razmak između dvije doze cjepiva proizvođači cjepiva tvrtke Pfizer i BioNTech kazale su da nema podataka koji bi dali znanstvenu podlogu takvoj odluci.

No, tvrtke su priznale da se javnozdravstveni interesi zaštite što većeg broja stanovnika mogu uzeti u obzir. Tada su istraživanja već pokazala da i jedna doza cjepiva Pfizer/BioNTech pruža značajnu zaštitu od bolesti.

"Naša studija pokazuje da je vrhunac odgovora antitijela nakon druge doze Pfizera izrazito osnažen kod starijih osoba kad je odgođena do 12 tjedana", kazala je autorica studije Helen Parry sa sveučilišta Birmingham.

U mnogim se europskim zemljama počelo davati cjepivo Pfizer/BioNTech prije nego što je donesena odluka o produljenju razmaka između dvije doze, pa je mali broj osoba docijepljen drugom dozom nakon 21 dan, prema preporuci proizvođača.

Studija koja još nije prošla znanstvenu recenziju obuhvatila je 175 osoba u dobi od 80 do 99 godina i utvrdila je da produžavanje razmaka između dvije doze povećava do 3,5 puta vrhunac stvaranja antitijela u usporedbi s osobama koje su drugu dozu primile nakon tri tjedna.

Antitijela su dio imunog sustava, a cjepivo potiče i stvaranje T stanica koje također sudjeluju u obrani organizma od zaraza.

Vrhunac T stanica bio je veći u skupini koja je primila drugu dozu nakon tri tjedna pa su autori istraživanja upozorili da se još ne mogu izvući zaključci o stupnju zaštite koju neka osoba ima ovisno o razmaku između dvije doze cjepiva.

No, uzimanjem u obzir tih podataka u kombinaciji sa stupnjem zaštite koji pruža već prva doza cjepiva od hospitalizacije i smrti od koronavirusne bolesti, Zavod za javno zdravstvo Engleske ocijenio je da studija dodatno podupire britanski pristup cijepljenju kojim je povećan razmak između dviju doza cjepiva i tako prvom dozom obuhvaćen i zaštićen veći broj osoba.

"Pristup za koji se Britanija odlučila odgađanjem druge doze cjepiva stvarno se isplatio", kazao je Gayatri Amirthalingam, epidemiolog u engleskom zavodu za javno zdravstvo.

Nova britanska studija otkriva: odgoda druge doze cjepiva Pfizer kod starijih rezultira s puno više antitijela

Cjepivo BioNTech/Pfizer protiv koronavirusa kod starijih osoba proizvodi tri i pol puta veći odgovor atitijela kad se druga doza odgodi do 12 tjedana nakon prve, pokazalo je britansko istraživanje.

Studija, čiji su rezultati objavljeni u petak, prva je koja izravno uspoređuje stvaranje antitijela nakon trotjednog razmaka dvije doze što preporučuje Pfizer/BioNTech i produljenog razmaka do 12 tjedana između davanja dvije doze, što su u nestašici cjepiva mnoge zemlje uvele kako bi obuhvatile mnogo više ljudi prvom dozom cjepiva i tako barem djelomično zaštitile veći broj ljudi od smrtonosne bolesti.

Nakon što je Britanija također uvela veći razmak između dvije doze cjepiva proizvođači cjepiva tvrtke Pfizer i BioNTech kazale su da nema podataka koji bi dali...
