Znanstvenici već nekoliko mjeseci znaju da koronavirus može ostati u zraku u vidu mikrokapljica kada zaraženi govore ili dišu, ali dosad nije bilo dokaza da su te sićušne čestice i zarazne.

Nova studija znanstvenika sa Sveučilišta Nebraska pokazala je prvi puta da se SARS-CoV-2 u mikrokapljicama koje se definiraju kao one ispod pet mikrona, može replicirati u laboratorijskim uvjetima.

To jača tezu da su i normalni govor i disanje, a ne samo kašljanje i kihanje, odgovorni za širenje koronavirusa, kao i da infektivne doze virusa mogu putovati na puno većoj distanci od dva metra koliko su smjernice o fizičkoj udaljenosti.

Ti se rezultati i dalje smatraju preliminarnima i nisu se još pojavili u recenziranom časopisu, što bi im dalo veću vjerodostojnost.
Međutim, objavljeni su na web stranici medrxiv.org na kojoj se tijekom pandemije uglavnom prvi put objavljuje većina vrhunskih istraživanja.

Isti je tim objavio u ožujku rad koji pokazuje da virus ostaje u zraku u prostorima gdje su hospitalizirani covid pacijenti, i ta studija uskoro bi trebala biti objavljena u časopisu.

Za nju, znanstvenici su uzeli uzorke zraka iz pet prostorija u kojima su pacijenti ležali u krevetima, na visini od oko 30 centimetara iznad kreveta.

Pacijenti su razgovarali, čime su proizvodili mikrokapljice koje su se širile zrakom nekoliko sati. 
Tim je uspio sakupiti mikrokapljice i stavio ih u kulturu koja im je trebala omogućiti razmnožavanje. Tri od 18 uzoraka uspjelo se replicirati.

Za Joshuu  Santarpiaja, profesora u Medicinskom centru Sveučilišta Nebraska, to predstavlja dokaz da mikrokapljice koje mogu prijeći i veće distance nego veće kapljice, mogu zaraziti ljude.

"Replicira se u staničnoj kulturi i stoga je zarazan", rekao je.

Potencijal transmisije mikrokapljica koronavirusa u jednom se trenutku znanstvenicima činio nemoguć.

Kasnije, počeli su mijenjati mišljenje i priznali da možda postoji mogućnost i takvog širenja zaraze, i to je, smatraju, dovoljan razlog za nošenje maski.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) jedna je od zadnjih koja je promijenila mišljenje, učinivši to 7. srpnja.
WHO je tada objavio da planira ažurirati svoje savjete nakon što su stotine stručnjaka zatražile od te UN-ove agencije da razmotriti rizike širenja koronavirusa putem aerosola.

"Mislim da se većina znanstvenika koji rade na zaraznim bolestima slaže da je vjerojatno da postoji ta zračna komponenta, iako možemo raspravljati koliko velika", rekao je Santarpia.

Znanstvenici već nekoliko mjeseci znaju da koronavirus može ostati u zraku u vidu mikrokapljica kada zaraženi govore ili dišu, ali dosad nije bilo dokaza da su te sićušne čestice i zarazne.

Nova studija znanstvenika sa Sveučilišta Nebraska pokazala je prvi puta da se SARS-CoV-2 u mikrokapljicama koje se definiraju kao one ispod pet mikrona, može replicirati u laboratorijskim uvjetima.

To jača tezu da su i normalni govor i disanje, a ne samo kašljanje i kihanje, odgovorni za širenje koronavirusa, kao i da infektivne doze virusa mogu putovati na puno većoj distanci od dva metra koliko su smjernice o fizičkoj udaljenosti.

Ti se rezultati i dalje smatraju preliminarnima i nisu se još pojavili u recenziranom časopisu, što bi im dalo veću vjerodostojnost.
Međutim, objavljeni su na web stranici medrxiv.org na kojoj se tijekom pandemije uglavnom prvi put objavljuje većina vrhunskih istraživanja.

Isti je tim objavio u ožujku rad koji pokazuje da virus ostaje u zraku u prostorima gdje su hospitalizirani covid pacijenti, i ta studija uskoro bi trebala biti objavljena u časopisu.

Za nju, znanstvenici su uzeli uzorke zraka iz pet prostorija u kojima su pacijenti ležali u krevetima, na visini od oko 30 centimetara iznad kreveta.

Pacijenti su razgovarali, čime su proizvodili mikrokapljice koje su se širile zrakom nekoliko sati. 
Tim je uspio sakupiti mikrokapljice i stavio ih u kulturu koja im je trebala omogućiti razmnožavanje. Tri od 18 uzoraka uspjelo se replicirati.

Za Joshuu  Santarpiaja, profesora u Medicinskom centru Sveučilišta Nebraska, to predstavlja dokaz da mikrokapljice koje mogu prijeći i veće distance nego veće kapljice, mogu zaraziti ljude.

"Replicira se u staničnoj kulturi i stoga je zarazan", rekao je.

Potencijal transmisije mikrokapljica koronavirusa u jednom se trenutku znanstvenicima činio nemoguć.

Kasnije, počeli su mijenjati mišljenje i priznali da možda postoji mogućnost i takvog širenja zaraze, i to je, smatraju, dovoljan razlog za nošenje maski.

Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO) jedna je od zadnjih koja je promijenila mišljenje, učinivši to 7. srpnja.
WHO je tada objavio da planira ažurirati svoje savjete nakon što su stotine stručnjaka zatražile od te UN-ove agencije da razmotriti rizike širenja koronavirusa putem aerosola.

"Mislim da se većina znanstvenika koji rade na zaraznim bolestima slaže da je vjerojatno da postoji ta zračna komponenta, iako možemo raspravljati koliko velika", rekao je Santarpia.

Normalni govor i disanje također šire koronavirus? Znanstvenici iz SAD-a tvrde da je zaraza putem zraka vjerojatno moguća

Znanstvenici već nekoliko mjeseci znaju da koronavirus može ostati u zraku u vidu mikrokapljica kada zaraženi govore ili dišu, ali dosad nije bilo dokaza da su te sićušne čestice i zarazne.

Nova studija znanstvenika sa Sveučilišta Nebraska pokazala je prvi puta da se SARS-CoV-2 u mikrokapljicama koje se definiraju kao one ispod pet mikrona, može replicirati u laboratorijskim uvjetima.

To jača tezu da su i normalni govor i disanje, a ne samo kašljanje i kihanje, odgovorni za širenje koronavirusa, kao i da infektivne doze virusa mogu putovati na puno većoj distanci od dva metra koliko su smjernice o fizičkoj udaljenosti.

Ti se rezultati i dalje smatraju preliminarnima i nisu se još pojavili u recenziranom časopisu, što bi im dalo veću vjerodostojnost.
