Među brojnim dobrim vijestima vezanima za cjepivo protiv Covida-19 stiže i ona iz laboratorija Moderne, nove biotehnološke tvrtke koja je u današnjem priopćenju za javnost objavila konačne rezultate ispitivanja učinkovitosti provedenog na 30.000 osoba. Pokazalo se kako je samo 11 osoba koje su dobile dvije doze cjepiva razvilo simptome nakon što su bili izloženi zarazi, naspram 185 simptomatskih slučajeva u placebo skupini. Riječ je učinkovitosti od 94,1 posto daleko iznad očekivanja mnogih znanstvenika do prije samo nekoliko tjedana, prenosi Science Magazine.
Još impresivnije je što je Modernin kandidat imao 100 posto učinkovitost u borbi protiv teških simptoma. Tvrtka stoga danas planira podnijeti zahtjev za odobrenje hitne uporabe (EUA) svoga cjepiva američkoj Upravi za hranu i lijekove (FDA), a također traži slično zeleno svjetlo od Europske agencije za lijekove.
Modernino cjepivo protiv SARS-CoV-2, virusa koji uzrokuje Covid-19, oslanja se na novu tehnologiju koja koristi mRNA za kodiranje proteina zvanog spike koji zakucava površinu patogena. Pfizer i BioNTech razvili su slično mRNA cjepivo, a također su izvijestili o izvrsnim rezultatima s učinkovitošću od 95 posto u konačnoj analizi ispitivanja na 45000 osoba. U toj studiji, koja je završila nakon što je identificirano 170 slučajeva Covid-19, dogodilo se samo 10 teških slučajeva bolesti, a samo jedan od njih je bio cijepljen.
Moderne i Pfizer / BioNTech zajedno izvještavaju da su njihova cjepiva djelovala otprilike u jednakom stupnju u svim dobnim i etničkim skupinama te kod oba spola. Još se raspravlja o prioritetima davanja cjepiva za što svaka država može dati vlastite smjernice.
Moderna je od projekta američke vlade Warp Speed dobila milijardu dolara kako bi im pomogla u razvoju njihova cjepiva. Izvršni direktor kompanije Stéphane Bancel kaže da je sav savezni novac išao za organiziranje kliničkih ispitivanja i da bi bez njega postignuti napredak sigurno bio odgođen. Investitori su u svibnju pridonijeli s još 1,3 milijarde dolara kako bi pomogli mladoj tvrtki koja još nema proizvoda na tržištu da izgrade pogone za proizvodnju svog cjepiva.
Pfizer je prošli tjedan podnio zahtjev za hitnu upotrebu cjepiva zbog čega je FDA najavila da će sazvati sastanak savjetodavnog odbora za cjepivo kako bi se podaci detaljno razmotrili 10. prosinca. Bancel kaže da je FDA rekla Moderni da bi mogla ponovno sazvati odbor već 17. prosinca radi razmatranja njegove prijave.
Bancel smatra da će cjepivo Moderne, s obzirom na visoku učinkovitost protiv blagih i teških slučajeva bolesti, imati najveći utjecaj ako se daje ljudima koji spadaju u najrizičnije skupine.

Moderna planira naplaćivati 32 do 37 dolara po dozi cjepiva u razvijenim zemljama, ali imat će jeftinije cijene za ostale dijelove svijeta. Tvrtka pregovara s Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, neprofitnom organizacijom kojoj je cilj smanjiti globalnu nejednakost u pristupu cjepivima kupnjom i distribucijom odobrenih proizvoda, a Bancel naglašava da želi da i druga cjepiva protiv Covida-19 uspiju.
Britanska farmaceutska kompanija AstraZeneca, u partnerstvu sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu, izvijestila je o preliminarnim dokazima učinkovitosti svog cjepiva, kao i Gamaleya istraživački institut za epidemiologiju i mikrobiologiju u Rusiji. Moderna se nada da će američkoj vladi osigurati 20 milijuna doza do kraja godine, a Pfizer kaže da bi trebali imati 50 milijuna doza za razmjenu između Sjedinjenih Država i drugih zemalja koje su sklopile ugovore o kupnji u istom periodu.

Među brojnim dobrim vijestima vezanima za cjepivo protiv Covida-19 stiže i ona iz laboratorija Moderne, nove biotehnološke tvrtke koja je u današnjem priopćenju za javnost objavila konačne rezultate ispitivanja učinkovitosti provedenog na 30.000 osoba. Pokazalo se kako je samo 11 osoba koje su dobile dvije doze cjepiva razvilo simptome nakon što su bili izloženi zarazi, naspram 185 simptomatskih slučajeva u placebo skupini. Riječ je učinkovitosti od 94,1 posto daleko iznad očekivanja mnogih znanstvenika do prije samo nekoliko tjedana, prenosi Science Magazine.
Još impresivnije je što je Modernin kandidat imao 100 posto učinkovitost u borbi protiv teških simptoma. Tvrtka stoga danas planira podnijeti zahtjev za odobrenje hitne uporabe (EUA) svoga cjepiva američkoj Upravi za hranu i lijekove (FDA), a također traži slično zeleno svjetlo od Europske agencije za lijekove.
Modernino cjepivo protiv SARS-CoV-2, virusa koji uzrokuje Covid-19, oslanja se na novu tehnologiju koja koristi mRNA za kodiranje proteina zvanog spike koji zakucava površinu patogena. Pfizer i BioNTech razvili su slično mRNA cjepivo, a također su izvijestili o izvrsnim rezultatima s učinkovitošću od 95 posto u konačnoj analizi ispitivanja na 45000 osoba. U toj studiji, koja je završila nakon što je identificirano 170 slučajeva Covid-19, dogodilo se samo 10 teških slučajeva bolesti, a samo jedan od njih je bio cijepljen.
Moderne i Pfizer / BioNTech zajedno izvještavaju da su njihova cjepiva djelovala otprilike u jednakom stupnju u svim dobnim i etničkim skupinama te kod oba spola. Još se raspravlja o prioritetima davanja cjepiva za što svaka država može dati vlastite smjernice.
Moderna je od projekta američke vlade Warp Speed dobila milijardu dolara kako bi im pomogla u razvoju njihova cjepiva. Izvršni direktor kompanije Stéphane Bancel kaže da je sav savezni novac išao za organiziranje kliničkih ispitivanja i da bi bez njega postignuti napredak sigurno bio odgođen. Investitori su u svibnju pridonijeli s još 1,3 milijarde dolara kako bi pomogli mladoj tvrtki koja još nema proizvoda na tržištu da izgrade pogone za proizvodnju svog cjepiva.
Pfizer je prošli tjedan podnio zahtjev za hitnu upotrebu cjepiva zbog čega je FDA najavila da će sazvati sastanak savjetodavnog odbora za cjepivo kako bi se podaci detaljno razmotrili 10. prosinca. Bancel kaže da je FDA rekla Moderni da bi mogla ponovno sazvati odbor već 17. prosinca radi razmatranja njegove prijave.
Bancel smatra da će cjepivo Moderne, s obzirom na visoku učinkovitost protiv blagih i teških slučajeva bolesti, imati najveći utjecaj ako se daje ljudima koji spadaju u najrizičnije skupine.
-Dajte ga zdravstvenim radnicima, dajte ga starijima, dajte ga osobama s dijabetesom, prekomjernom težinom, srčanim bolestima. Dvadesetpetogodišnji zdrav čovjek? Dajte mu još jedno cjepivo, kaže.
Moderna planira naplaćivati 32 do 37 dolara po dozi cjepiva u razvijenim zemljama, ali imat će jeftinije cijene za ostale dijelove svijeta. Tvrtka pregovara s Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, neprofitnom organizacijom kojoj je cilj smanjiti globalnu nejednakost u pristupu cjepivima kupnjom i distribucijom odobrenih proizvoda, a Bancel naglašava da želi da i druga cjepiva protiv Covida-19 uspiju.
Britanska farmaceutska kompanija AstraZeneca, u partnerstvu sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu, izvijestila je o preliminarnim dokazima učinkovitosti svog cjepiva, kao i Gamaleya istraživački institut za epidemiologiju i mikrobiologiju u Rusiji. Moderna se nada da će američkoj vladi osigurati 20 milijuna doza do kraja godine, a Pfizer kaže da bi trebali imati 50 milijuna doza za razmjenu između Sjedinjenih Država i drugih zemalja koje su sklopile ugovore o kupnji u istom periodu.
