Blato i snijeg pomogli su usporiti ukrajinske protuofenzive i opkoljene ruske trupe nastoje stabilizirati svoje bojišnice na jugu i istoku. Dosadašnji ukrajinski protunapadi oslobodili su oko 63 posto teritorija koji su Rusi bili uspjeli okupirati od 24. veljače. Iluzorno je očekivati da će Ukrajina nakon takvih uspjeha stati; njihovo topništvo i timovi specijalnih snaga upravo pripremaju teren za sljedeću veliku ofenzivu, piše Newsweek.

"Mislim da su Ukrajinci u odličnoj poziciji za napredovanje", tvrdi Mark Voyger, bivši savjetnik za ruska i euroazijska pitanja zapovjednika američke vojske u Europi. Gdje će njihov čekić u sljedećem udarcu pasti, ostaje za vidjeti. Kijev pomno čuva svoje planove, a prijevara kojom se poslužio kad je javno najavljenoj i dugo očekivanoj ofenzivi prema Hersonu prethodila iznenadna ofenziva kojom je oslobođena cijela sjeveroistočna Harkivska oblast već je u kategoriji antologijskih strateških poteza.

Iz ukrajinske perspektive iznova postoje dobri razlozi za napade na dvije fronte. Na jugu bi se ukrajinske trupe mogle iz Zaporižja lako pokušati probiti prema Melitopolju, okupiranom u prvim danima invazije. To bi im omogućilo da presjeku vitalne željezničke i cestovne veze koje se protežu prema zapadu od ruskih granica, preko okupiranog Mariupolja, do poluotoka Krim. Uspješan prodor do obale Azovskog mora na jugu mogao bi zatvoriti u džep veliki broj Rusa koji drže istočnu obalu rijeke Dnjepar i ugroziti Krim. Nisu bez vraga zadnje obavještajne informacije Velike Britanije kako Rusi na Krimu rade na utvrđivanju obrambenih pozicija kako bi se pripremili za eventualni ukrajinski napad. Uz obalu sela Molohne u regiji Saki navodno postavljaju minska polja i kopaju kilometre novih rovova.

Razbijena ruska oprema u okolici Harkiva

Na istoku je ukrajinska protuofenziva usporena na granicama Harkivske i Luhanske oblasti. Zauzimanje jedne ili obje regije bio bi ozbiljan politički udarac Kremlju, a doveo bi ukrajinske trupe i na dohvat ruke od više ruskih naselja preko granice. Roman Kostenko — jedan od poznatih "kiborga", ukrajinskih vojnika koji su branili Donjeck od 2014.— kaže za Newsweek da je na južnoj fronti široki brzi Dnjepar veliki problem za Kijev. Takvu rijeku je teško prijeći po svim vremenskim uvjetima, tvrdi Kostenko koji je aktivno sudjelovao u oslobađanju rodnog Hersona. Što se tiče povratka teritorija, on smatra da su najlogičniji okolni pravci oslobođenja ukrajinskih prostora do Azovskog mora, preko Zaporižja, Melitopolja i Berdjanska.

"Ako tamo uspijemo razbiti ruske linije, tad imamo dobre šanse vratiti se na južnu obalu Dnjepra kako bismo oslobodili ostatak Hersona" – smatra Kostenko. U tom slučaju dijelovi Hersonske oblasti koji su još uvijek pod kontrolom Rusije bit će u velikoj mjeri odsječeni, a sva njihova logistika morat će se preusmjeriti preko Krima.

„Krim je za nas poluotok, ali za Ruse je to otok", napominje Kostenko. Sve što imaju je Kerčki most, a nedavno smo vidjeli da to nije najsigurnija i dobro branjena struktura. Rusi još imaju svoje morske transporte i teretne brodove, tvrdi, ali oni mogu prebaciti samo djelić u usporedbi s kopnom i željeznicom.

 Da je ukrajinski udar po Južnom pravcu potencijalno korisniji nego po istočnom, slaže se i američki stručnjak Voyger. "Radije bih napredovao što je brže moguće prema Melitopolju u pokušaju da okružim i odsječem Krim. Inače će Rusi iskoristiti vrijeme da prekriju zemlju svim vrstama obrambenih naprava na cijelom tom području", smatra Voyger.

 No, po njemu i Moskva ima nekoliko dobrih opcija da povrati zamah u ovome sukobu. Kremlj će vjerojatno provesti zimu pokušavajući stabilizirati svoje linije vojnim sredstvima, diplomatskim sredstvima, napadnom infrastrukturom i dovođenjem dodatnih pojačanja, kao i gomilanjem snaga duž ukrajinsko-bjeloruske granice kako bi odvratili Kijev od pokušaja ofenzive. Putin je, međutim, opsjednut postizanjem neke vrste pobjede, čak i uz veliku cijenu. To bi ih moglo voditi u pokušaj da krenu u posljednji pokušaj da osiguraju cijelu Donjecku i Lugansku oblast. Stabilni Donbas bi im predstavljao političku pobjedu koju bi reklamirali, dok je za Ukrajinu ključno ojačati obranu u tim dijelovima dok istodobno mobilizira svoje snage za nadolazeću protuofenzivu u Zaporižju.

Blato i snijeg pomogli su usporiti ukrajinske protuofenzive i opkoljene ruske trupe nastoje stabilizirati svoje bojišnice na jugu i istoku. Dosadašnji ukrajinski protunapadi oslobodili su oko 63 posto teritorija koji su Rusi bili uspjeli okupirati od 24. veljače. Iluzorno je očekivati da će Ukrajina nakon takvih uspjeha stati; njihovo topništvo i timovi specijalnih snaga upravo pripremaju teren za sljedeću veliku ofenzivu, piše Newsweek.

"Mislim da su Ukrajinci u odličnoj poziciji za napredovanje", tvrdi Mark Voyger, bivši savjetnik za ruska i euroazijska pitanja zapovjednika američke vojske u Europi. Gdje će njihov čekić u sljedećem udarcu pasti, ostaje za vidjeti. Kijev pomno čuva svoje planove, a prijevara kojom se poslužio kad je javno najavljenoj i dugo očekivanoj ofenzivi prema Hersonu prethodila iznenadna ofenziva kojom je oslobođena cijela sjeveroistočna Harkivska oblast već je u kategoriji antologijskih strateških poteza.

"Ukrajinci su briljantno prevarili sve, a najviše Ruse", govori Voyger.

Iz ukrajinske perspektive iznova postoje dobri razlozi za napade na dvije fronte. Na jugu bi se ukrajinske trupe mogle iz Zaporižja lako pokušati probiti prema Melitopolju, okupiranom u prvim danima invazije. To bi im omogućilo da presjeku vitalne željezničke i cestovne veze koje se protežu prema zapadu od ruskih granica, preko okupiranog Mariupolja, do poluotoka Krim. Uspješan prodor do obale Azovskog mora na jugu mogao bi zatvoriti u džep veliki broj Rusa koji drže istočnu obalu rijeke Dnjepar i ugroziti Krim. Nisu bez vraga zadnje obavještajne informacije Velike Britanije kako Rusi na Krimu rade na utvrđivanju obrambenih pozicija kako bi se pripremili za eventualni ukrajinski napad. Uz obalu sela Molohne u regiji Saki navodno postavljaju minska polja i kopaju kilometre novih rovova.

Na istoku je ukrajinska protuofenziva usporena na granicama Harkivske i Luhanske oblasti. Zauzimanje jedne ili obje regije bio bi ozbiljan politički udarac Kremlju, a doveo bi ukrajinske trupe i na dohvat ruke od više ruskih naselja preko granice. Roman Kostenko — jedan od poznatih "kiborga", ukrajinskih vojnika koji su branili Donjeck od 2014.— kaže za Newsweek da je na južnoj fronti široki brzi Dnjepar veliki problem za Kijev. Takvu rijeku je teško prijeći po svim vremenskim uvjetima, tvrdi Kostenko koji je aktivno sudjelovao u oslobađanju rodnog Hersona. Što se tiče povratka teritorija, on smatra da su najlogičniji okolni pravci oslobođenja ukrajinskih prostora do Azovskog mora, preko Zaporižja, Melitopolja i Berdjanska.

"Ako tamo uspijemo razbiti ruske linije, tad imamo dobre šanse vratiti se na južnu obalu Dnjepra kako bismo oslobodili ostatak Hersona" – smatra Kostenko. U tom slučaju dijelovi Hersonske oblasti koji su još uvijek pod kontrolom Rusije bit će u velikoj mjeri odsječeni, a sva njihova logistika morat će se preusmjeriti preko Krima.

„Krim je za nas poluotok, ali za Ruse je to otok", napominje Kostenko. Sve što imaju je Kerčki most, a nedavno smo vidjeli da to nije najsigurnija i dobro branjena struktura. Rusi još imaju svoje morske transporte i teretne brodove, tvrdi, ali oni mogu prebaciti samo djelić u usporedbi s kopnom i željeznicom.

 Da je ukrajinski udar po Južnom pravcu potencijalno korisniji nego po istočnom, slaže se i američki stručnjak Voyger. "Radije bih napredovao što je brže moguće prema Melitopolju u pokušaju da okružim i odsječem Krim. Inače će Rusi iskoristiti vrijeme da prekriju zemlju svim vrstama obrambenih naprava na cijelom tom području", smatra Voyger.

 No, po njemu i Moskva ima nekoliko dobrih opcija da povrati zamah u ovome sukobu. Kremlj će vjerojatno provesti zimu pokušavajući stabilizirati svoje linije vojnim sredstvima, diplomatskim sredstvima, napadnom infrastrukturom i dovođenjem dodatnih pojačanja, kao i gomilanjem snaga duž ukrajinsko-bjeloruske granice kako bi odvratili Kijev od pokušaja ofenzive. Putin je, međutim, opsjednut postizanjem neke vrste pobjede, čak i uz veliku cijenu. To bi ih moglo voditi u pokušaj da krenu u posljednji pokušaj da osiguraju cijelu Donjecku i Lugansku oblast. Stabilni Donbas bi im predstavljao političku pobjedu koju bi reklamirali, dok je za Ukrajinu ključno ojačati obranu u tim dijelovima dok istodobno mobilizira svoje snage za nadolazeću protuofenzivu u Zaporižju.
