Američki Centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (CDC) objavio je u srijedu podatak kako se u ožujku u umirovljeničkom domu u Kentuckyju, u kojem je veliki dio korisnika cijepljen, uspjelo koronom zaraziti čak 44 osobe. Radilo se o 24 korisnika doma i 20 njegovatelja.

Među zaraženim korisnicima, njih 18 ih je bilo cijepljeno s dvije doze Pfizera, a od njegovatelja je samo četvero primilo dvije doze, ostali su primili jednu ili nijednu.

Zaraza je buknula nakon što je u domu necijepljeni član osoblja proširio novi zarazniji soj virusa koji ima u šiljku proteina mutacije kao brazilska i južnoafrička varijanta.

Kako navodi New York Times većina cijepljenih koji su se zarazili nisu razvili jače simptome bolesti niti zahtijevaju hospitalizaciju, no jedna je cijepljena osoba, koja je bila stanovnica staračkog doma, umrla. Također preminule su i dvije osobe koje nisu bile cijepljenje. Od necijepljenih, njih preko 80 posto imalo je simptome bolesti.

U trenutku izbijanja zaraze 90 posto štićenika u staračkom domu je bilo cijepljeno te samo polovica od 116 zaposlenika.

CDC-ov izvještaj i na ovom primjeru naglašava važnost cijepljenja štićenika domova za starije kao i svih zdravstvenih radnika koji ulaze u te ustanove.

Studija, objavljena zajedno s onom koja je uključivala staračke domove u Chicagu, isto tako naglašava važnost održavanja epidemioloških mjera poput upotrebe maski i zaštitne opreme te poštivanje protokola za kontrolu infekcije bez obzira na razinu procijepljenosti.

"Kako bi zaštitili štićenike nužno je da se svi njegovatelji i klijenti obavezno cijepe, navode. 

U epidemiji u Kentuckyju, mutirani virusni soj koji je zarazio štićenike i osoblje nije na CDC-ovom popisu onih mutacija koje se smatraju zabrinjavajućima. Međutim, varijanta SARS-CoV- 2 virusa ima nekoliko važnih mutacija. Prva je D614G koja omogućuje brže širenje. Također na proteinu šiljka ima mutaciju E484K koja se javlja u južnoafričkoj i brazilskoj varijanti, a koja omogućava korionavirusu da lakše izbjegne imunološki odgovor, odnosno smanjuje učinkovitost neutralizirajućih antitijela.

Američki Centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (CDC) objavio je u srijedu podatak kako se u ožujku u umirovljeničkom domu u Kentuckyju, u kojem je veliki dio korisnika cijepljen, uspjelo koronom zaraziti čak 44 osobe. Radilo se o 24 korisnika doma i 20 njegovatelja.

Među zaraženim korisnicima, njih 18 ih je bilo cijepljeno s dvije doze Pfizera, a od njegovatelja je samo četvero primilo dvije doze, ostali su primili jednu ili nijednu.

Zaraza je buknula nakon što je u domu necijepljeni član osoblja proširio novi zarazniji soj virusa koji ima u šiljku proteina mutacije kao brazilska i južnoafrička varijanta.

Kako navodi New York Times većina cijepljenih koji su se zarazili nisu razvili jače simptome bolesti niti zahtijevaju hospitalizaciju, no jedna je cijepljena osoba, koja je bila stanovnica staračkog doma, umrla. Također preminule su i dvije osobe koje nisu bile cijepljenje. Od necijepljenih, njih preko 80 posto imalo je simptome bolesti.

U trenutku izbijanja zaraze 90 posto štićenika u staračkom domu je bilo cijepljeno te samo polovica od 116 zaposlenika.

CDC-ov izvještaj i na ovom primjeru naglašava važnost cijepljenja štićenika domova za starije kao i svih zdravstvenih radnika koji ulaze u te ustanove.

Studija, objavljena zajedno s onom koja je uključivala staračke domove u Chicagu, isto tako naglašava važnost održavanja epidemioloških mjera poput upotrebe maski i zaštitne opreme te poštivanje protokola za kontrolu infekcije bez obzira na razinu procijepljenosti.

U epidemiji u Kentuckyju, mutirani virusni soj koji je zarazio štićenike i osoblje nije na CDC-ovom popisu onih mutacija koje se smatraju zabrinjavajućima. Međutim, varijanta SARS-CoV- 2 virusa ima nekoliko važnih mutacija. Prva je D614G koja omogućuje brže širenje. Također na proteinu šiljka ima mutaciju E484K koja se javlja u južnoafričkoj i brazilskoj varijanti, a koja omogućava korionavirusu da lakše izbjegne imunološki odgovor, odnosno smanjuje učinkovitost neutralizirajućih antitijela.

Američki Centar za prevenciju i kontrolu bolesti (CDC) objavio je u srijedu podatak kako se u ožujku u umirovljeničkom domu u Kentuckyju, u kojem je veliki dio korisnika cijepljen, uspjelo koronom zaraziti čak 44 osobe. Radilo se o 24 korisnika doma i 20 njegovatelja.

Među zaraženim korisnicima, njih 18 ih je bilo cijepljeno s dvije doze Pfizera, a od njegovatelja je samo četvero primilo dvije doze, ostali su primili jednu ili nijednu.

Zaraza je buknula nakon što je u domu necijepljeni član osoblja proširio novi zarazniji soj virusa koji ima u šiljku proteina mutacije kao brazilska i južnoafrička varijanta.
