Bivši "broj jedan" ženskog tenisa Bjeloruskinja Victoria Azarenka je potvrdila da otkazuje nastup na US Openu, koji se održava od 28. kolovoza do 10. rujna, kako bi se mogla posvetiti borbi za skrbništvo nad svojim osmomjesečnim sinom Leom.

"Na žalost, neću moći sudjelovati ove godine na US Openu zbog pravne bitke koju vodim kako bi riješila svoju obiteljsku situaciju", izjavila je bjeloruska tenisačica. 

Azarenka je već 17. kolovoza najavila da neće nastupiti na četvrtom grand slam turniru sezone na kojem je dva puta igrala finale (2012. i 2013.).

"Teško mi je što ne mogu biti u New Yorku i što neću moći igrati na jednom od meni najdražih turnira gdje sam proživjela neke od najljepših trenutaka u svojoj karijeri, ali s nestrpljenjem čekam povratak iduće godine", dodala je 28-godišnja tenisačica koja je trenutačno na 204. poziciji na WTA ljestvici.

Sudac u Los Angelesu koji je zadužen za rješavanje skrbništva nad Leom zabranio je da dijete napušta Kaliforniju dok slučaj ne bude zatvoren.

Dvostruka pobjednica Australian Opena (2012. i 2013.) rodila je svoje prvo dijete u prosincu prošle godine i vratila se na teniske terene krajem lipnja na turniru u Mallorci nakon 13 mjeseci pauze.

U srpnju je stigla do osmine finala Wimbledona, ali je prošli tjedan propustila turnir u Cincinnatiju zbog "osobnih razloga", a onda je ubrzo objavila da se "kratko nakon Wimbledona" rastala od djetetovog oca Billyja McKeaguea.

Bivši "broj jedan" ženskog tenisa Bjeloruskinja Victoria Azarenka je potvrdila da otkazuje nastup na US Openu, koji se održava od 28. kolovoza do 10. rujna, kako bi se mogla posvetiti borbi za skrbništvo nad svojim osmomjesečnim sinom Leom.

"Na žalost, neću moći sudjelovati ove godine na US Openu zbog pravne bitke koju vodim kako bi riješila svoju obiteljsku situaciju", izjavila je bjeloruska tenisačica. 

Azarenka je već 17. kolovoza najavila da neće nastupiti na četvrtom grand slam turniru sezone na kojem je dva puta igrala finale (2012. i 2013.).

"Teško mi je što ne mogu biti u New Yorku i što neću moći igrati na jednom od meni najdražih turnira gdje sam proživjela neke od najljepših trenutaka u svojoj karijeri, ali s nestrpljenjem čekam povratak iduće godine", dodala je 28-godišnja tenisačica koja je trenutačno na 204. poziciji na WTA ljestvici.

Sudac u Los Angelesu koji je zadužen za rješavanje skrbništva nad Leom zabranio je da dijete napušta Kaliforniju dok slučaj ne bude zatvoren.

Dvostruka pobjednica Australian Opena (2012. i 2013.) rodila je svoje prvo dijete u prosincu prošle godine i vratila se na teniske terene krajem lipnja na turniru u Mallorci nakon 13 mjeseci pauze.

U srpnju je stigla do osmine finala Wimbledona, ali je prošli tjedan propustila turnir u Cincinnatiju zbog "osobnih razloga", a onda je ubrzo objavila da se "kratko nakon Wimbledona" rastala od djetetovog oca Billyja McKeaguea.

Bivši "broj jedan" ženskog tenisa Bjeloruskinja Victoria Azarenka je potvrdila da otkazuje nastup na US Openu, koji se održava od 28. kolovoza do 10. rujna, kako bi se mogla posvetiti borbi za skrbništvo nad svojim osmomjesečnim sinom Leom.
