Iver nikad ne pada daleko od klade, kaže stara narodna. Ivica Maraš, sadašnji glasnogovornik rukometne reprezentacije, možda ne spada u red najzaslužnijih hrvatskih rukometaša u povijesti, ali svakako je najzaslužniji što je hrvatski rukomet dobio još jednog perspektivnog mladog igrača.
Naravno, sina Matea, koji je protiv Slovačke u Varaždinu odigrao zapaženu ulogu u debiju u dresu A reprezentacije.
- Poseban i neponovljiv osjećaj, ostvarenje svih želja. Iskreno, nisam očekivao poziv izbornika Horvata, još se uvijek smatram mladim igračem, pred kojim je dugačak put, skromno je počeo Mateo. Svaki otac hvali sina, no, kao vrlo skromnog, ali i upornog i marljivog, opisao ga je otac. Nakon Akademije Balić&Metličić, Mateo je otišao u Makedoniju, u Bitolu u Eurofarm Pelister:
- Usuđujem se reći, bio je to pravi potez. Bivši izbornik Željko Babić odličan je trener, ugodno je s njim raditi, on je bio odlučujući za to što sam izabrao taj klub, iako sam imao ponude Zagreba, Celja, Ademar Leona, Toulousea... Klub je odlično posložen, uvjeren sam da ću dolje jako napredovati. Nakon što sam trenirao u Akademiji, gdje sam imao podršku izuzetnih ljudi, kao što su Balić, Metličić, Anušić... ovo je lijep iskorak u karijeri.
Mateo je desni vanjski, nekoliko se puta u Varaždinu digao i opalio izvana, zabivši četiri gola. Ljevica, jak i precizan udarac: "paralela" se nameće sama za sebe:
- Petar Metličić. Radio sam s njim, od njega sam najviše naučio, on mi je oduvijek bio uzor, boljeg nisam mogao imati. No, ne dopuštam sam sebi staviti se u istu rečenicu s njim, niti u mislima. On je neponovljiv.
Naravno, Pero je posebna priča. No, jednog dana...
- Jednog dana sanjam biti jedan od standardnih članova reprezentacije, no, ponovit ću - tek su me izveli na put. Nikud ne žurim, želim raditi, davati sve od sebe, dokazivati se. Reprezentacija na mojoj poziciji ima starije i iskusnije igrače, na meni je da se pokušam probiti. Slušam, učim, to su mi najvažnije osobine, dat ću sve od sebe. Želim da me - koliko je moguće - poštede ozljede, naravno da sanjam o OI u Parizu 2024., to je san svakog sportaša. No, ima vremena...
Mateo je izdanak prave sportske obitelji, skroman kakav jest, nije spomenuo da ga je prije dvije godine tražila i Barcelona za juniorsku momčad:
- Brat Ivano je 2005. godište, perspektivan je košarkaš, u mlađekadetskoj je reprezentaciji, on je otišao u druge vode. Sestra Ana otišla je odbojku, igra za Brda, no ona je još vrlo mlada, 2010. je godište. Istina je, sportska smo obitelj. Mene je u rukomet, naravno, uputio tata kad smo još živjeli u Italiji. Od malih sam nogu bio u dvorani, u životu mi se oduvijek sve vrtjelo oko rukometa.
Talentirana generacija
Mateo ima svoj san, Horvatov poziv u delikatnom trenutku za reprezentaciju želi zaslužiti i potvrditi:
- Kao i svi mi, kojima je to ostvarenje sna. U Varaždinu ima dosta debitanata, svi se trudimo i želimo dokazati da nam je tu mjesto. O tome koliko je trenutak delikatan, nek govore drugi, oni stariji. Moje je mišljenje da je tako nešto normalno. Nije nikakva drama, tako ja to gledam, ni Francuska niti Njemačka, kao ni ostali najbolji, nisu uvijek u samom vrhu. Uvjeren sam da će se Hrvatska opet uskoro tući za medalje, tko god bio u momčadi. Sa mnom, ako to zaslužim i opravdam - ili bez mene.
Maraš junior generacija je Milete, Načinovića, Ivankovića, Pribetića... ima tu "materijala" za pozitivu, za legitimne nasljednike prošlih trofejnih generacija, i ove koja sada malo šteka.
Tko ima takvu "mladost", ne treba strahovati za budućnost...

Iver nikad ne pada daleko od klade, kaže stara narodna. Ivica Maraš, sadašnji glasnogovornik rukometne reprezentacije, možda ne spada u red najzaslužnijih hrvatskih rukometaša u povijesti, ali svakako je najzaslužniji što je hrvatski rukomet dobio još jednog perspektivnog mladog igrača.
Naravno, sina Matea, koji je protiv Slovačke u Varaždinu odigrao zapaženu ulogu u debiju u dresu A reprezentacije.
- Poseban i neponovljiv osjećaj, ostvarenje svih želja. Iskreno, nisam očekivao poziv izbornika Horvata, još se uvijek smatram mladim igračem, pred kojim je dugačak put, skromno je počeo Mateo. Svaki otac hvali sina, no, kao vrlo skromnog, ali i upornog i marljivog, opisao ga je otac. Nakon Akademije Balić&Metličić, Mateo je otišao u Makedoniju, u Bitolu u Eurofarm Pelister:
- Usuđujem se reći, bio je to pravi potez. Bivši izbornik Željko Babić odličan je trener, ugodno je s njim raditi, on je bio odlučujući za to što sam izabrao taj klub, iako sam imao ponude Zagreba, Celja, Ademar Leona, Toulousea... Klub je odlično posložen, uvjeren sam da ću dolje jako napredovati. Nakon što sam trenirao u Akademiji, gdje sam imao podršku izuzetnih ljudi, kao što su Balić, Metličić, Anušić... ovo je lijep iskorak u karijeri.
Mateo je desni vanjski, nekoliko se puta u Varaždinu digao i opalio izvana, zabivši četiri gola. Ljevica, jak i precizan udarac: "paralela" se nameće sama za sebe:
- Petar Metličić. Radio sam s njim, od njega sam najviše naučio, on mi je oduvijek bio uzor, boljeg nisam mogao imati. No, ne dopuštam sam sebi staviti se u istu rečenicu s njim, niti u mislima. On je neponovljiv.
Naravno, Pero je posebna priča. No, jednog dana...
- Jednog dana sanjam biti jedan od standardnih članova reprezentacije, no, ponovit ću - tek su me izveli na put. Nikud ne žurim, želim raditi, davati sve od sebe, dokazivati se. Reprezentacija na mojoj poziciji ima starije i iskusnije igrače, na meni je da se pokušam probiti. Slušam, učim, to su mi najvažnije osobine, dat ću sve od sebe. Želim da me - koliko je moguće - poštede ozljede, naravno da sanjam o OI u Parizu 2024., to je san svakog sportaša. No, ima vremena...
Mateo je izdanak prave sportske obitelji, skroman kakav jest, nije spomenuo da ga je prije dvije godine tražila i Barcelona za juniorsku momčad:
- Brat Ivano je 2005. godište, perspektivan je košarkaš, u mlađekadetskoj je reprezentaciji, on je otišao u druge vode. Sestra Ana otišla je odbojku, igra za Brda, no ona je još vrlo mlada, 2010. je godište. Istina je, sportska smo obitelj. Mene je u rukomet, naravno, uputio tata kad smo još živjeli u Italiji. Od malih sam nogu bio u dvorani, u životu mi se oduvijek sve vrtjelo oko rukometa.
Talentirana generacija
Mateo ima svoj san, Horvatov poziv u delikatnom trenutku za reprezentaciju želi zaslužiti i potvrditi:
- Kao i svi mi, kojima je to ostvarenje sna. U Varaždinu ima dosta debitanata, svi se trudimo i želimo dokazati da nam je tu mjesto. O tome koliko je trenutak delikatan, nek govore drugi, oni stariji. Moje je mišljenje da je tako nešto normalno. Nije nikakva drama, tako ja to gledam, ni Francuska niti Njemačka, kao ni ostali najbolji, nisu uvijek u samom vrhu. Uvjeren sam da će se Hrvatska opet uskoro tući za medalje, tko god bio u momčadi. Sa mnom, ako to zaslužim i opravdam - ili bez mene.
Maraš junior generacija je Milete, Načinovića, Ivankovića, Pribetića... ima tu "materijala" za pozitivu, za legitimne nasljednike prošlih trofejnih generacija, i ove koja sada malo šteka.
Tko ima takvu "mladost", ne treba strahovati za budućnost...
