Hokejaši Finske i Njemačke popunili su preostala dva mjesta u četvrtfinalu olimpijskog turnira u Pjongčangu, nakon što su Finci očekivano nadigrali Južnu Koreju sa 5-2 (1-0, 2-2, 2-0), a Nijemci u produžetku pobijedili Švicarsku sa 2-1 (1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 1-0).

Finska je s dva pogotka Kontiole (5, 24) i jednim Heiskanena (27) povela 3-0 protiv Južne Koreje i činilo se da će lakoćom proći u četvrtfinale. Međutim, Korejci su se pogocima Radunskea (31) i Ahna (33) vratili u igru. Ipak, golom Hietanena (48) Finci su opet stigli do dva pogotka prednosti, a za konačnih 5-2 Manninen je pogodio nebranjenu mrežu sedam sekundi prije kraja dvoboja.

U dvoboju Njemačke i Švicarske nakon 60 minuta nije bilo pobjednika. Nijemci su poveli pogotkom Phoederla (2), a Švicarci su izjednačili golom Mosera (24). Nakon samo 26 sekundi igre u dodatnih deset minuta Seidenberg je postigao pobjednički pogodak i Nijemce gurnuo u četvrtfinalni obračun sa Šveđanima, od kojih su u prvom dijelu natjecanja poraženi s minimalnih 1-0.

U prva dva dvoboja osmine finala hokejaši SAD-a s visokih 5-1 (0-0, 3-1, 2-0) svladali su Slovake, a Norvežani su u dramatičnoj utakmici sa 2-1 (0-1, 0-0, 1-0; 1-0) u produžetku nadigrali Slovence.

SAD je protiv Slovačke stigao do prednosti od 3-0 golovima početkom druge trećine, a strijelci su bili Ryan Donato (21:36), James Wisniewski (22:20) i Marc Arcobello (33:30). Nadu Slovačkoj nakratko je vratio Peter Čeresnak (36:54), no u posljednjih 20 minuta su Garrett Roe (49:52) i Ryan Donato (56:46) postigli još dva pogotka za SAD za konačnih 5-1.

Slovenija je bolje počela utakmicu protiv Norveške i za to bila nagrađena vodećim golom Jana Urbasa (6:38) u situaciji s igračem više. No, Slovenci svoju dominaciju u prve dvije trećine nisu uspjeli okruniti povećanjem prednosti, da bi u trećoj trećini Norvežani bili opasniji i poravnali preko Tommyja Kristiansena (43:06).

Do kraja treće trećine više nije bilo pogodaka pa se ušlo u produžetak u kojemu su Slovenci imali dvije minute igrača više tijekom kojih su stvorili nekoliko izglednih prilika, ali nisu uspjeli poentirati. Kada su se Norvežani kompletirali uslijedila je njihova brza akcija koju je pogotkom za prolazak u četvrtfinale okrunio Alexander Bonsaksen (63:06).

U srijedu su na rasporedu četvrtfinalni dvoboji. Prvi će na led Česi i Amerikanci (4.10 sati), a nakon njih će se za polufinale boriti Rusi i Norvežani (8.40). U poslijepodnevnom terminu po hrvatskom vremenu, od 13 sati i 10 minuta, bit će odigrana preostala dva četvrtfinalna dvoboja, Kanada - Finska i Švedska - Njemačka.

Hokejaši Finske i Njemačke popunili su preostala dva mjesta u četvrtfinalu olimpijskog turnira u Pjongčangu, nakon što su Finci očekivano nadigrali Južnu Koreju sa 5-2 (1-0, 2-2, 2-0), a Nijemci u produžetku pobijedili Švicarsku sa 2-1 (1-0, 0-1, 0-0, 1-0).

Finska je s dva pogotka Kontiole (5, 24) i jednim Heiskanena (27) povela 3-0 protiv Južne Koreje i činilo se da će lakoćom proći u četvrtfinale. Međutim, Korejci su se pogocima Radunskea (31) i Ahna (33) vratili u igru. Ipak, golom Hietanena (48) Finci su opet stigli do dva pogotka prednosti, a za konačnih 5-2 Manninen je pogodio nebranjenu mrežu sedam sekundi prije kraja dvoboja.

U dvoboju Njemačke i Švicarske nakon 60 minuta nije bilo pobjednika. Nijemci su poveli pogotkom Phoederla (2), a Švicarci su izjednačili golom Mosera (24). Nakon samo 26 sekundi igre u dodatnih deset minuta Seidenberg je postigao pobjednički pogodak i Nijemce gurnuo u četvrtfinalni obračun sa Šveđanima, od kojih su u prvom dijelu natjecanja poraženi s minimalnih 1-0.

U prva dva dvoboja osmine finala hokejaši SAD-a s visokih 5-1 (0-0, 3-1, 2-0) svladali su Slovake, a Norvežani su u dramatičnoj utakmici sa 2-1 (0-1, 0-0, 1-0; 1-0) u produžetku nadigrali Slovence.

SAD je protiv Slovačke stigao do prednosti od 3-0 golovima početkom druge trećine, a strijelci su bili Ryan Donato (21:36), James Wisniewski (22:20) i Marc Arcobello (33:30). Nadu Slovačkoj nakratko je vratio Peter Čeresnak (36:54), no u posljednjih 20 minuta su Garrett Roe (49:52) i Ryan Donato (56:46) postigli još dva pogotka za SAD za konačnih 5-1.

Slovenija je bolje počela utakmicu protiv Norveške i za to bila nagrađena vodećim golom Jana Urbasa (6:38) u situaciji s igračem više. No, Slovenci svoju dominaciju u prve dvije trećine nisu uspjeli okruniti povećanjem prednosti, da bi u trećoj trećini Norvežani bili opasniji i poravnali preko Tommyja Kristiansena (43:06).

Do kraja treće trećine više nije bilo pogodaka pa se ušlo u produžetak u kojemu su Slovenci imali dvije minute igrača više tijekom kojih su stvorili nekoliko izglednih prilika, ali nisu uspjeli poentirati. Kada su se Norvežani kompletirali uslijedila je njihova brza akcija koju je pogotkom za prolazak u četvrtfinale okrunio Alexander Bonsaksen (63:06).

U srijedu su na rasporedu četvrtfinalni dvoboji. Prvi će na led Česi i Amerikanci (4.10 sati), a nakon njih će se za polufinale boriti Rusi i Norvežani (8.40). U poslijepodnevnom terminu po hrvatskom vremenu, od 13 sati i 10 minuta, bit će odigrana preostala dva četvrtfinalna dvoboja, Kanada - Finska i Švedska - Njemačka.
