Strašan šok, tuga, nevjerica... - riječi su koje je više puta ponovila Vedrana Grgin opisujući nam svoje osjećaje nakon što je doznala za smrt dugogodišnje suigračice, prijateljice i kolegice Žane Lelas.
Našu proslavljenu košarkašicu vijest je zatekla u srijedu ujutro u Zagrebu gdje već skoro godinu dana radi u omladinskom pogonu drugoligaškog muškog košarkaškog kluba Dinamo (ex Rudeš).
- Prijateljica mi je poslala poruku da joj se javim čim prije. Kad dobiješ takvu poruku, znaš da se nešto dogodilo. Nisam mogla vjerovati kad sam čula da Žane više nema. Ostala sam nekoliko minuta u dvorani, nisam se nigdje mogla maknuti od šoka.
Vedrana je pet godina stariju Žanu poznavala praktički cijeli život i ne krije da je utjecala na razvoj njezine karijere.
- Imala sam možda 12-13 godina kad smo se upoznale. Ja sam bila mršava klinka, a ona je već bila u prvoj ekipi Jugoplastike s Nadom Biuk, Ivanom Piplović, Željanom Listeš, Brankom Pivalica... Žana je poslije otišla u Elemes pa je imala prekrasnu karijeru u inozemstvu, a onda smo i u reprezentaciji igrale skupa. Bila je prisutna kroz moju karijeru, utjecala je na mene. Učila sam od nje i ostalih iskusnijih suigračica, gurale su me naprijed i pomogle mi da ostvarim karijeru koju sam imala.
Nakon završetka igračke karijere Žana i Vedrana vratile su se kući u Split i pokrenule vlastite projekte u kojima su svoje bogato košarkaško znanje počele prenositi na nove generacije. Postale su na neki način rivalke.
- Ona je pokrenula akademiju, a onda i ja školu košarke. Nismo nikad bile kućne prijateljice, ali smo imale treninge u istim dvoranama, stalno smo se viđale. Obje smo bile u Stručnom savjetu ženske košarke pa smo nekad zajedno znale putovati u Zagreb na sastanke - kaže Grgin.
Posljednji su se put čule prije ljeta ove godine.
- Ovo ljeto nisam išla na akcije s reprezentacijom jer sam se htjela odmoriti uz obitelj, ali smo se čule porukama. Ona je išla s reprezentacijom do 18 godina.
Nastavila je Grgin:
- Nenadoknadiva će rupa nastati u hrvatskoj ženskoj košarci. Žana je imala velike radne navike, sve ono što ju je krasilo kao igračicu prenijela je na svoju trenersku karijeru. Curama s kojima je radila bila je kao mama, brinula se za njih. Obitelj treba pustiti da se skupe, budu tu jedni za druge i nekako nađu put za dalje. Maloj Niki želim da nastavi s košarkom, da primjenjuje sve ono što ju je mama učila i da ostane tako jaka cura kao do sada. Nadam se da će i cure iz njene akademije smoći snage nastaviti jer bi Žana sigurno to htjela. Svi mi ostali tu smo za njih ako im bilo što treba. Strašan je ovo gubitak, suosjećam s njezinom obitelji i izražavam duboko žaljenje i sućut.

Strašan šok, tuga, nevjerica... - riječi su koje je više puta ponovila Vedrana Grgin opisujući nam svoje osjećaje nakon što je doznala za smrt dugogodišnje suigračice, prijateljice i kolegice Žane Lelas.
Našu proslavljenu košarkašicu vijest je zatekla u srijedu ujutro u Zagrebu gdje već skoro godinu dana radi u omladinskom pogonu drugoligaškog muškog košarkaškog kluba Dinamo (ex Rudeš).
- Prijateljica mi je poslala poruku da joj se javim čim prije. Kad dobiješ takvu poruku, znaš da se nešto dogodilo. Nisam mogla vjerovati kad sam čula da Žane više nema. Ostala sam nekoliko minuta u dvorani, nisam se nigdje mogla maknuti od šoka.
Vedrana je pet godina stariju Žanu poznavala praktički cijeli život i ne krije da je utjecala na razvoj njezine karijere.
- Imala sam možda 12-13 godina kad smo se upoznale. Ja sam bila mršava klinka, a ona je već bila u prvoj ekipi Jugoplastike s Nadom Biuk, Ivanom Piplović, Željanom Listeš, Brankom Pivalica... Žana je poslije otišla u Elemes pa je imala prekrasnu karijeru u inozemstvu, a onda smo i u reprezentaciji igrale skupa. Bila je prisutna kroz moju karijeru, utjecala je na mene. Učila sam od nje i ostalih iskusnijih suigračica, gurale su me naprijed i pomogle mi da ostvarim karijeru koju sam imala.
Nakon završetka igračke karijere Žana i Vedrana vratile su se kući u Split i pokrenule vlastite projekte u kojima su svoje bogato košarkaško znanje počele prenositi na nove generacije. Postale su na neki način rivalke.
- Ona je pokrenula akademiju, a onda i ja školu košarke. Nismo nikad bile kućne prijateljice, ali smo imale treninge u istim dvoranama, stalno smo se viđale. Obje smo bile u Stručnom savjetu ženske košarke pa smo nekad zajedno znale putovati u Zagreb na sastanke - kaže Grgin.
Posljednji su se put čule prije ljeta ove godine.
- Ovo ljeto nisam išla na akcije s reprezentacijom jer sam se htjela odmoriti uz obitelj, ali smo se čule porukama. Ona je išla s reprezentacijom do 18 godina.
Nastavila je Grgin:
- Nenadoknadiva će rupa nastati u hrvatskoj ženskoj košarci. Žana je imala velike radne navike, sve ono što ju je krasilo kao igračicu prenijela je na svoju trenersku karijeru. Curama s kojima je radila bila je kao mama, brinula se za njih. Obitelj treba pustiti da se skupe, budu tu jedni za druge i nekako nađu put za dalje. Maloj Niki želim da nastavi s košarkom, da primjenjuje sve ono što ju je mama učila i da ostane tako jaka cura kao do sada. Nadam se da će i cure iz njene akademije smoći snage nastaviti jer bi Žana sigurno to htjela. Svi mi ostali tu smo za njih ako im bilo što treba. Strašan je ovo gubitak, suosjećam s njezinom obitelji i izražavam duboko žaljenje i sućut.
