Hrvatska košarka je posljednjih tjedana opet bila u centru pažnje, ali ne po nekim uspjesima ili sličnom nego po situaciji oko izbornika reprezentacije, odnosno činjenice da je Aco Petrović kao sportski direktor Saveza želio Darija Gjergju, ali da je Upravni odbor HKS-a izabrao Josipa Sesara, pišu Sportske novosti. Petrović je nakon toga dao ostavku, a Sesar je objasnio cijelu situaciju u Sportcastu:

- Kad sam u reprezentaciju ušao kao Acin pomoćnik nisam imao ideju da bih preuzeo izborničku funkciju. Kroz ta dva prozora je cijelo vrijeme bila priča da se ide u tom smjeru da ja budem izbornik - rekao je Sesar i objasnio što se događalo kada je shvatio da Petrović ima više od jednog kandidata za mjesto izbornika:

- Nazvao sam Acu i rekao mu da vidim da se muči i da nema potrebe da ja budem izbornik. Nisam radio na njega pritisak, niti imam pravo na to, niti je bilo tko to mogao raditi jer je na njemu bilo da donese odluku. Međutim, on mi je rekao da sam ja njemu prvi favorit i tu sam prvi put počeo razmišljati tako. To je bilo prije otprilike dva mjeseca prije izbora, a slično mi je rekao i desetak dana prije nego je u Savezu donesena odluka. Što se promijenilo poslije toga, to ipak treba Aco reći. Cijela priča je bacila sjenu na izbor. Bio sam sretan što sam dobio čast biti izabran na tu funkciju, ali mi je nakon svega ostao gorak okus u ustima. Međutim, moje je da se bavim košarkom i da napravim sve da na parketu napravimo što je najbolje moguće.

Sesar je u Sportcastu istaknuo kako Gjergja i on nisu bili jedini kandidati:

- Ne može se ništa sakriti. Ja sam znao s kim on pregovara. Znam da je i prije Gjergje bio favorit jedan trener. Znam tko je, ali nije na meni da izlazim s imenom. Sa saznanjem da je pričao s dva trenera, ja sam mu išao olakšati i dati mu izlaz. Mi smo odlično surađivali u reprezentaciji u koju sam ionako ušao da doživim Acu Petrovića kao trenera. Kad sam dobio poziv sam se odazvao zbog moje karijere, da osjetim i tu školu. Stvarno sam uživao u ta dva prozora i stvarno je sve bilo ok. Do drugog prozora nisam imao ideju da bih mogao biti izbornik.

Nakon što je sve završilo i Sesar bio izabran za izbornika, on u kontaktu s Petrovićem nije osjetio da će on otići iz Saveza.

- Aco mi je rekao da bi možda bilo dobro dovesti nekog iskusnijeg trenera, ja sam mu odgovorio da nema potrebe jer je on tu kao sportski direktor i mentor. Zašto Aco nije išao van i objasnio sve što se dogodilo s njegove strane, trebalo bi ipak da on objasni.

Cijelu situaciju je u Sportcastu komentirao i Tvrtko Puljić, dugogodišnji novinar Sportskih novosti specijaliziran za košarku:

- U cijeloj priči se samo radi o tome da Aco nije trebao pred Upravni odbor doći s dva kandidata. Mi smo imali jedinstvenu situaciju koja je, po meni, jako dobra - imali smo dva dobra trenera kao kandidate. On je trebao odrediti tko će biti izbornik, on je dobio mandat od HKS-a da to napravi da bi ljudima iz UO da glasaju gdje se to prvi put dogodilo u povijesti Saveza. Do sada je uvijek bio samo jedan kandidat i to je bilo to. Tako je on trebao napraviti i ovaj put. Zašto on to nije napravio, je li mogao odlučiti do kraja tko je od njih dvojice pravi kandidat, ne znam. Da je bio 100% siguran u jednog, vjerojatno bi izašao s jednim imenom. Mislim da je tu cijelo vrijeme bilo na vagi. Aco je preuzeo odgovornost da nađe tog čovjeka i on je sam to trebao odraditi.

Hrvatska košarka je posljednjih tjedana opet bila u centru pažnje, ali ne po nekim uspjesima ili sličnom nego po situaciji oko izbornika reprezentacije, odnosno činjenice da je Aco Petrović kao sportski direktor Saveza želio Darija Gjergju, ali da je Upravni odbor HKS-a izabrao Josipa Sesara, pišu Sportske novosti. Petrović je nakon toga dao ostavku, a Sesar je objasnio cijelu situaciju u Sportcastu:

- Kad sam u reprezentaciju ušao kao Acin pomoćnik nisam imao ideju da bih preuzeo izborničku funkciju. Kroz ta dva prozora je cijelo vrijeme bila priča da se ide u tom smjeru da ja budem izbornik - rekao je Sesar i objasnio što se događalo kada je shvatio da Petrović ima više od jednog kandidata za mjesto izbornika:

- Nazvao sam Acu i rekao mu da vidim da se muči i da nema potrebe da ja budem izbornik. Nisam radio na njega pritisak, niti imam pravo na to, niti je bilo tko to mogao raditi jer je na njemu bilo da donese odluku. Međutim, on mi je rekao da sam ja njemu prvi favorit i tu sam prvi put počeo razmišljati tako. To je bilo prije otprilike dva mjeseca prije izbora, a slično mi je rekao i desetak dana prije nego je u Savezu donesena odluka. Što se promijenilo poslije toga, to ipak treba Aco reći. Cijela priča je bacila sjenu na izbor. Bio sam sretan što sam dobio čast biti izabran na tu funkciju, ali mi je nakon svega ostao gorak okus u ustima. Međutim, moje je da se bavim košarkom i da napravim sve da na parketu napravimo što je najbolje moguće.

Sesar je u Sportcastu istaknuo kako Gjergja i on nisu bili jedini kandidati:

- Ne može se ništa sakriti. Ja sam znao s kim on pregovara. Znam da je i prije Gjergje bio favorit jedan trener. Znam tko je, ali nije na meni da izlazim s imenom. Sa saznanjem da je pričao s dva trenera, ja sam mu išao olakšati i dati mu izlaz. Mi smo odlično surađivali u reprezentaciji u koju sam ionako ušao da doživim Acu Petrovića kao trenera. Kad sam dobio poziv sam se odazvao zbog moje karijere, da osjetim i tu školu. Stvarno sam uživao u ta dva prozora i stvarno je sve bilo ok. Do drugog prozora nisam imao ideju da bih mogao biti izbornik.

Nakon što je sve završilo i Sesar bio izabran za izbornika, on u kontaktu s Petrovićem nije osjetio da će on otići iz Saveza.

- Aco mi je rekao da bi možda bilo dobro dovesti nekog iskusnijeg trenera, ja sam mu odgovorio da nema potrebe jer je on tu kao sportski direktor i mentor. Zašto Aco nije išao van i objasnio sve što se dogodilo s njegove strane, trebalo bi ipak da on objasni.

Cijelu situaciju je u Sportcastu komentirao i Tvrtko Puljić, dugogodišnji novinar Sportskih novosti specijaliziran za košarku:

- U cijeloj priči se samo radi o tome da Aco nije trebao pred Upravni odbor doći s dva kandidata. Mi smo imali jedinstvenu situaciju koja je, po meni, jako dobra - imali smo dva dobra trenera kao kandidate. On je trebao odrediti tko će biti izbornik, on je dobio mandat od HKS-a da to napravi da bi ljudima iz UO da glasaju gdje se to prvi put dogodilo u povijesti Saveza. Do sada je uvijek bio samo jedan kandidat i to je bilo to. Tako je on trebao napraviti i ovaj put. Zašto on to nije napravio, je li mogao odlučiti do kraja tko je od njih dvojice pravi kandidat, ne znam. Da je bio 100% siguran u jednog, vjerojatno bi izašao s jednim imenom. Mislim da je tu cijelo vrijeme bilo na vagi. Aco je preuzeo odgovornost da nađe tog čovjeka i on je sam to trebao odraditi.
