Za većinu ljudi Covid-19 je bolest od koje se oporave u roku od nekoliko tjedana, no ima i onih koji se s njenim simptomima muče mjesecima. Kratak dah, otežano disanje, probadanje u prsima i umor oni su koji najčešće potraju, piše BBC.
Stanje koje se označava nazivom "dugi Covid" otežava život bolesnika koje može iscrpiti i najobičnija aktivnost poput šetnje. Nažalost, ono nije tako rijetko.
Budući da je dosadašnji cilj zdravstvenih organizacija bio spašavanje života teško oboljelih, o trajnim simptomima onih koji su preživjeli malo se govorilo. No uistinu postoje trajne posljedice koje bolest izazvana koronavirusom ostavlja na zdravlje, a one nisu zanemarive.
Pitanja poput onoga zašto ljudi obolijevaju od "dugog Covid-19" i hoće li se ikada u potpunosti oporaviti prožeta su nejasnoćama.
Što je "dugi Covid"?
Ne postoji stručna medicinska definicija bolesti koja bi potvrdila koliko točno dugi Covid traje i koja je lista simptoma, budući da težina, trajanje, ali i same tegobe ovise od osobe do osobe. Dvoje različitih ljudi s istim stanjem mogu imati dva potpuno različita iskustva.
Međutim, najučestaliji simptom je grozan umor.
Ostali uključuju: gubitak daha (kratak dah), kašalj koji ne prolazi, bol u mišićima, probleme sa sluhom i vidom, glavobolju, gubitak osjetila mirisa i okusa kao i štetu nanesenu srcu, plućima, bubrezima i želucu.
Posljedice na mentalno zdravlje pacijenata također nisu zanemarive, upozoravaju stručnjaci, a one uključuju anksioznost, pa u nekim slučajevima i depresiju.
"Dugi Covid" može apsolutno uništiti kvalitetu života ljudi.
"Moj umor je poput ničega što sam doživjela ikada prije...", "Nemam život, samo postojanje", priznaju oni koji pate od ovog oblika produžene "korone". A on ne pogađa samo one kojima trebaju mjeseci da se oporave od boravka na intenzivnim jedinicama liječenja, može se dogoditi i onima čiji su simptomi bili relativno blagi.
"Danas više nemamo dvojbe u postojanje dugog Covid-19", potvrdio je za BBC profesor Davd Strain sa Sveučilišta u Exeteru.
Istraživanje provedeno na 143 pacijenta primljena u najveću bolnicu u Rimu, pokazalo je da 87% njih ima simptome dva mjeseca nakon što su oboljeli. Ipak, provedeno je na uskom uzorku ljudi, a svima je u nekom trenutku bilo potrebno bolničko liječenje.
Boluju li od dugog Covid-19 samo oni koji su imali teški oblik bolesti?
Prema dosadašnjim saznanjima, ne nužno. Istraživanje provedeno na pacijentima u Dublinu potvrđuje da i do 10 tjedana nakon dijagnoze brojni s lakšim simptomima nisu bili u mogućnosti vratiti se na posao, ponajprije zbog umora i fizičke iscrpljenosti. Liječnici nisu pronašli snažnu poveznicu između dugotrajnog umora i jačine zaraze.
Profesor Chris Brightling sa Sveučilišta u Leicesteru smatra kako onaj dio pacijenata koji je razvio teške upale pluća spada u "rizičnu skupinu" kad je u pitanju produljenje simptoma Covid, zbog štete nanesene plućima.
No to nije potvrđeno.
Jedna od pretpostavki je da se imunološki sustav kod ovih pacijenata nije uspio oporaviti, a smatra se i kako su preostali simptomi potvrda da Covid-19 može nanijeti štetu organima. Covid također, smatraju neki, može promijeniti ljudski metabolizam. No sve se ovo još istražuje.
Post-viralni umor ili kašalj simptomi su i više nego uobičajeni - vjerojatno nam se svima nekad u životu dogodila infekcija od koje smo se oporavljali mjesecima. No s Covid-19 simptomi su jači, a period u kojemu traju duži.
"Jedinstvenost u načinu na koji ovaj virus napada domaćina i u načinima na koje se stanice ponašaju ukazuje na to da Covid uzrokuje jaču infekciju od ostalih virusa", objašnjava profesor Brightling.
Mogu li se pacijenti s dugim Covid u potpunosti oporaviti?
"Ja se svakako nadam da će simptomi kod onih koji boluju trajati manje od godine dana", kaže stručnjak. No postoje slutnje o dugotrajnom utjecaju na ljudsko zdravlje, dodaje. Buduće infekcije mogle bi tako biti opasnije za te pacijente.
Iz Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije upozorili su na mogućnost da zbog češćih infekcija mlađi ljudi razviju probleme sa srcem.

Za većinu ljudi Covid-19 je bolest od koje se oporave u roku od nekoliko tjedana, no ima i onih koji se s njenim simptomima muče mjesecima. Kratak dah, otežano disanje, probadanje u prsima i umor oni su koji najčešće potraju, piše BBC.
Stanje koje se označava nazivom "dugi Covid" otežava život bolesnika koje može iscrpiti i najobičnija aktivnost poput šetnje. Nažalost, ono nije tako rijetko.
Budući da je dosadašnji cilj zdravstvenih organizacija bio spašavanje života teško oboljelih, o trajnim simptomima onih koji su preživjeli malo se govorilo. No uistinu postoje trajne posljedice koje bolest izazvana koronavirusom ostavlja na zdravlje, a one nisu zanemarive.
Pitanja poput onoga zašto ljudi obolijevaju od "dugog Covid-19" i hoće li se ikada u potpunosti oporaviti prožeta su nejasnoćama.
Što je "dugi Covid"?
Ne postoji stručna medicinska definicija bolesti koja bi potvrdila koliko točno dugi Covid traje i koja je lista simptoma, budući da težina, trajanje, ali i same tegobe ovise od osobe do osobe. Dvoje različitih ljudi s istim stanjem mogu imati dva potpuno različita iskustva.
Međutim, najučestaliji simptom je grozan umor.
Ostali uključuju: gubitak daha (kratak dah), kašalj koji ne prolazi, bol u mišićima, probleme sa sluhom i vidom, glavobolju, gubitak osjetila mirisa i okusa kao i štetu nanesenu srcu, plućima, bubrezima i želucu.
Posljedice na mentalno zdravlje pacijenata također nisu zanemarive, upozoravaju stručnjaci, a one uključuju anksioznost, pa u nekim slučajevima i depresiju.
"Dugi Covid" može apsolutno uništiti kvalitetu života ljudi.
"Moj umor je poput ničega što sam doživjela ikada prije...", "Nemam život, samo postojanje", priznaju oni koji pate od ovog oblika produžene "korone". A on ne pogađa samo one kojima trebaju mjeseci da se oporave od boravka na intenzivnim jedinicama liječenja, može se dogoditi i onima čiji su simptomi bili relativno blagi.
"Danas više nemamo dvojbe u postojanje dugog Covid-19", potvrdio je za BBC profesor Davd Strain sa Sveučilišta u Exeteru.
Istraživanje provedeno na 143 pacijenta primljena u najveću bolnicu u Rimu, pokazalo je da 87% njih ima simptome dva mjeseca nakon što su oboljeli. Ipak, provedeno je na uskom uzorku ljudi, a svima je u nekom trenutku bilo potrebno bolničko liječenje.
Boluju li od dugog Covid-19 samo oni koji su imali teški oblik bolesti?
Prema dosadašnjim saznanjima, ne nužno. Istraživanje provedeno na pacijentima u Dublinu potvrđuje da i do 10 tjedana nakon dijagnoze brojni s lakšim simptomima nisu bili u mogućnosti vratiti se na posao, ponajprije zbog umora i fizičke iscrpljenosti. Liječnici nisu pronašli snažnu poveznicu između dugotrajnog umora i jačine zaraze.
Profesor Chris Brightling sa Sveučilišta u Leicesteru smatra kako onaj dio pacijenata koji je razvio teške upale pluća spada u "rizičnu skupinu" kad je u pitanju produljenje simptoma Covid, zbog štete nanesene plućima.
No to nije potvrđeno.
Jedna od pretpostavki je da se imunološki sustav kod ovih pacijenata nije uspio oporaviti, a smatra se i kako su preostali simptomi potvrda da Covid-19 može nanijeti štetu organima. Covid također, smatraju neki, može promijeniti ljudski metabolizam. No sve se ovo još istražuje.
Post-viralni umor ili kašalj simptomi su i više nego uobičajeni - vjerojatno nam se svima nekad u životu dogodila infekcija od koje smo se oporavljali mjesecima. No s Covid-19 simptomi su jači, a period u kojemu traju duži.
"Jedinstvenost u načinu na koji ovaj virus napada domaćina i u načinima na koje se stanice ponašaju ukazuje na to da Covid uzrokuje jaču infekciju od ostalih virusa", objašnjava profesor Brightling.
Mogu li se pacijenti s dugim Covid u potpunosti oporaviti?
"Ja se svakako nadam da će simptomi kod onih koji boluju trajati manje od godine dana", kaže stručnjak. No postoje slutnje o dugotrajnom utjecaju na ljudsko zdravlje, dodaje. Buduće infekcije mogle bi tako biti opasnije za te pacijente.
Iz Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije upozorili su na mogućnost da zbog češćih infekcija mlađi ljudi razviju probleme sa srcem.
