U lipnju 2022. mužjak sumatranskog orangutana Rakus zadobio je ranu na licu ispod desnog oka, očito u borbi s drugim mužjakom, u istraživačkom centru Suaq Balimbing u zaštićenom prašumskom području u Indoneziji. Ono što je Rakus napravio tri dana kasnije privuklo je pažnju znanstvenika.

Istraživači kažu da su primijetili mužjaka kako tretira otvorenu ranu na licu sokom i sažvakanim listovima biljke za koju se zna da ima antiupalna i analgetička svojstva.

Orangutan je žvakao lišće biljke kako bi proizveo tekućinu koju je više puta razmazao po rani, a zatim nanosio sažvakanu biljku izravno na ozljedu, slično flasteru, kazala je primatologinja i kognitivna biologinja Isabelle Laumer iz Max Planck instituta za ponašanje životinja u Njemačkoj.

To zapažanje pokazalo je da orangutani, visoko inteligentna vrsta čovjekolikih majmuna, između ostalog posjeduju vještinu da tretiraju rane nanošenjem ljekovitog bilja.

"Koliko znamo, ovo je prvi dokumentirani slučaj da divlje životinje aktivno liječe rane biljnom vrstom s medicinskim svojstvima", kazala je viša autorica studije Caroline Schuppli, evolucijska biologinja na Institutu.

Istraživači su rekli da se samoliječenje orangutanove rane nije činilo slučajnošću.

"Činilo se da je njegovo ponašanje bilo namjerno. Selektivno je tretirao ranu na desnoj strani lica biljnim sokom, a nije tretirao druge dijelove tijela. Ponašanje se ponovilo nekoliko puta, a nije primijenio samo sok biljke, nego je kasnije primijenio i čvršći biljni materijal dok rana nije bila potpuno pokrivena", pojasnila je Laumer.

Rana se ni u jednom trenutku nije upalila i za nekoliko se dana zatvorila, a za nekoliko tjedana potpuno zarasla, dodala je.

Tim kaže da je poznato da biljka koju je koristio Rakus sadrži supstance s antibakterijskim, antiupalnim, antigljivičnim, antioksidativnim, analgetičkim i antikancerogenim svojstvima.

Schuppli je naglasila da se zasad ne zna u kojoj mjeri orangutan razumije proces, ali opažanje jasno pokazuje da su orangutani sposobni liječiti svoje rane biljkama.

Orangutani pripadaju skupini velikih čovjekolikih majmuna, uz čimpanze, gorile i bonobe. Orangutani su najmanje bliski ljudima od njih, ali još uvijek dijele približno 97 posto DNK.

U lipnju 2022. mužjak sumatranskog orangutana Rakus zadobio je ranu na licu ispod desnog oka, očito u borbi s drugim mužjakom, u istraživačkom centru Suaq Balimbing u zaštićenom prašumskom području u Indoneziji. Ono što je Rakus napravio tri dana kasnije privuklo je pažnju znanstvenika.

Istraživači kažu da su primijetili mužjaka kako tretira otvorenu ranu na licu sokom i sažvakanim listovima biljke za koju se zna da ima antiupalna i analgetička svojstva.

Orangutan je žvakao lišće biljke kako bi proizveo tekućinu koju je više puta razmazao po rani, a zatim nanosio sažvakanu biljku izravno na ozljedu, slično flasteru, kazala je primatologinja i kognitivna biologinja Isabelle Laumer iz Max Planck instituta za ponašanje životinja u Njemačkoj.

To zapažanje pokazalo je da orangutani, visoko inteligentna vrsta čovjekolikih majmuna, između ostalog posjeduju vještinu da tretiraju rane nanošenjem ljekovitog bilja.

"Koliko znamo, ovo je prvi dokumentirani slučaj da divlje životinje aktivno liječe rane biljnom vrstom s medicinskim svojstvima", kazala je viša autorica studije Caroline Schuppli, evolucijska biologinja na Institutu.

Istraživači su rekli da se samoliječenje orangutanove rane nije činilo slučajnošću.

"Činilo se da je njegovo ponašanje bilo namjerno. Selektivno je tretirao ranu na desnoj strani lica biljnim sokom, a nije tretirao druge dijelove tijela. Ponašanje se ponovilo nekoliko puta, a nije primijenio samo sok biljke, nego je kasnije primijenio i čvršći biljni materijal dok rana nije bila potpuno pokrivena", pojasnila je Laumer.

Rana se ni u jednom trenutku nije upalila i za nekoliko se dana zatvorila, a za nekoliko tjedana potpuno zarasla, dodala je.

Tim kaže da je poznato da biljka koju je koristio Rakus sadrži supstance s antibakterijskim, antiupalnim, antigljivičnim, antioksidativnim, analgetičkim i antikancerogenim svojstvima.

Schuppli je naglasila da se zasad ne zna u kojoj mjeri orangutan razumije proces, ali opažanje jasno pokazuje da su orangutani sposobni liječiti svoje rane biljkama.

Orangutani pripadaju skupini velikih čovjekolikih majmuna, uz čimpanze, gorile i bonobe. Orangutani su najmanje bliski ljudima od njih, ali još uvijek dijele približno 97 posto DNK.

Orangutan liječio otvorenu ranu sokom i sažvakanim listovima biljke koja ima antiupalna i analgetička svojstva

U lipnju 2022. mužjak sumatranskog orangutana Rakus zadobio je ranu na licu ispod desnog oka, očito u borbi s drugim mužjakom, u istraživačkom centru Suaq Balimbing u zaštićenom prašumskom području u Indoneziji. Ono što je Rakus napravio tri dana kasnije privuklo je pažnju znanstvenika.

Istraživači kažu da su primijetili mužjaka kako tretira otvorenu ranu na licu sokom i sažvakanim listovima biljke za koju se zna da ima antiupalna i analgetička svojstva.

Orangutan je žvakao lišće biljke kako bi proizveo tekućinu koju je više puta razmazao po rani, a zatim nanosio sažvakanu biljku izravno na ozljedu, slično flasteru, kazala je primatologinja i kognitivna biologinja Isabelle Laumer iz Max Planck instituta za ponašanje životinja u Njemačkoj.

To zapažanje pokazalo je da orangutani, visoko inteligentna vrsta čovjekolikih majmuna, između ostalog posjeduju vještinu da tretiraju rane nanošenjem ljekovitog bilja.

"Koliko znamo, ovo je prvi dokumentirani slučaj da divlje životinje aktivno liječe rane biljnom vrstom s medicinskim svojstvima", kazala je viša autorica studije Caroline Schuppli, evolucijska biologinja na Institutu.

Istraživači su rekli da se samoliječenje orangutanove rane nije činilo slučajnošću.

"Činilo se da je njegovo ponašanje bilo namjerno. Selektivno je tretirao ranu na desnoj strani lica biljnim sokom, a nije tretirao druge dijelove tijela. Ponašanje se ponovilo nekoliko puta, a nije primijenio samo sok biljke, nego je kasnije primijenio i čvršći biljni materijal dok rana nije bila potpuno pokrivena", pojasnila je Laumer.

Rana se ni u jednom trenutku nije upalila i za nekoliko se dana zatvorila, a za nekoliko tjedana potpuno zarasla, dodala je.

Tim kaže da je poznato da biljka koju je koristio Rakus sadrži supstance s antibakterijskim, antiupalnim, antigljivičnim, antioksidativnim, analgetičkim i antikancerogenim svojstvima.

Schuppli je naglasila da se zasad ne zna u kojoj mjeri orangutan razumije proces, ali opažanje jasno pokazuje da su orangutani sposobni liječiti svoje rane biljkama.

Orangutani pripadaju skupini velikih čovjekolikih majmuna, uz čimpanze, gorile i bonobe. Orangutani su najmanje bliski ljudima od njih, ali još uvijek dijele približno 97 posto DNK.
