Pomicanje sata za jedan sat unaprijed tijekom ljetnih mjeseci, uobičajena praksa u Europi i Sjevernoj Americi, može uzrokovati zdravstvene tegobe i imati niz štetnih posljedica, tvrde znanstvenici.
Prelazak na ljetno računanje vremena kratkoročno znači sat vremena kraći san, no dugoročno donosi dulje trajanje dana tijekom šest mjeseci od konca ožujka do konca listopada.
Međutim, znanstvena su istraživanja pokazala kako će pomicanje satova s 2 na 3 sata u nedjelju 26. ožujka vjerojatno rezultirati povećanjem broja srčanih i moždanih udara, izazvati rast broja automobilskih nesreća, te smanjiti radnu učinkovitost.
Pritom, neće rezultirati smanjenjem potrošnje električne energije, suprotno nekadašnjim vjerovanjima.
Prema podacima nedavno objavljenim u jednom psihološkom znanstvenom časopisu, dan nakon prelaska na ljetno računanje vremena, savezni suci skloni su davati u prosjeku pet posto dulje zatvorske kazne, nego u tjednu prije ili u tjednu poslije.
Znanstvenici tvrde kako čak i manji poremećaji ustaljenih obrazaca spavanja mogu imati značajne posljedice.
"Naša studija ukazuje na to da nagle, pa i male promjene ritma sna mogu imati štetan učinak", istaknuo je Amneet Sandhu sa Sveučilišta u Koloradu, čija je studija bolničkih podataka otkrila 25-postotni skok broja srčanih udara u ponedjeljak, dan nakon početka ljetnog računanja vremena.
Ljetno računanje vremena, koje ove godine traje do 29. listopada, usvojeno je za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata kao mjera štednje struje. Logika je bila da dulje trajanje dana znači da će ljudi manje sati provoditi uz umjetnu rasvjetu.
Praksa se ustalila u većem dijelu Sjeverne Amerike i Europi, ali ne i u većini drugih zemalja svijeta.
No, studije su dosad uglavnom pokazale da promjena računanja vremena ne donosi i značajnije uštede električne energije.
Ukidanje ljetnog računanja vremena - odnosno ukidanje povratka na zimsko računanje - u Sjedinjenim je Državama moguće jedino zakonodavnom odlukom američkog Kongresa. Savezne države nisu dužne prijeći na ljetno računanje vremena, ali su obavezne od studenoga do ožujka prakticirati standardno, zimsko računanje vremena.
Zakonodavci u nekim saveznim državama već su pokušavali progurati zakone kako bi se ljetno računanje vremena posve ukinulo, no dosad je to uspjelo jedino Arizoni i Havajima.

Pomicanje sata za jedan sat unaprijed tijekom ljetnih mjeseci, uobičajena praksa u Europi i Sjevernoj Americi, može uzrokovati zdravstvene tegobe i imati niz štetnih posljedica, tvrde znanstvenici.
Prelazak na ljetno računanje vremena kratkoročno znači sat vremena kraći san, no dugoročno donosi dulje trajanje dana tijekom šest mjeseci od konca ožujka do konca listopada.
Međutim, znanstvena su istraživanja pokazala kako će pomicanje satova s 2 na 3 sata u nedjelju 26. ožujka vjerojatno rezultirati povećanjem broja srčanih i moždanih udara, izazvati rast broja automobilskih nesreća, te smanjiti radnu učinkovitost.
Pritom, neće rezultirati smanjenjem potrošnje električne energije, suprotno nekadašnjim vjerovanjima.
Prema podacima nedavno objavljenim u jednom psihološkom znanstvenom časopisu, dan nakon prelaska na ljetno računanje vremena, savezni suci skloni su davati u prosjeku pet posto dulje zatvorske kazne, nego u tjednu prije ili u tjednu poslije.
Znanstvenici tvrde kako čak i manji poremećaji ustaljenih obrazaca spavanja mogu imati značajne posljedice.
"Naša studija ukazuje na to da nagle, pa i male promjene ritma sna mogu imati štetan učinak", istaknuo je Amneet Sandhu sa Sveučilišta u Koloradu, čija je studija bolničkih podataka otkrila 25-postotni skok broja srčanih udara u ponedjeljak, dan nakon početka ljetnog računanja vremena.
Ljetno računanje vremena, koje ove godine traje do 29. listopada, usvojeno je za vrijeme Drugog svjetskog rata kao mjera štednje struje. Logika je bila da dulje trajanje dana znači da će ljudi manje sati provoditi uz umjetnu rasvjetu.
Praksa se ustalila u većem dijelu Sjeverne Amerike i Europi, ali ne i u većini drugih zemalja svijeta.
No, studije su dosad uglavnom pokazale da promjena računanja vremena ne donosi i značajnije uštede električne energije.
Ukidanje ljetnog računanja vremena - odnosno ukidanje povratka na zimsko računanje - u Sjedinjenim je Državama moguće jedino zakonodavnom odlukom američkog Kongresa. Savezne države nisu dužne prijeći na ljetno računanje vremena, ali su obavezne od studenoga do ožujka prakticirati standardno, zimsko računanje vremena.
Zakonodavci u nekim saveznim državama već su pokušavali progurati zakone kako bi se ljetno računanje vremena posve ukinulo, no dosad je to uspjelo jedino Arizoni i Havajima.
