Iz vlastitog iskustva znam da nema većeg gušta od putovanja u tople zemlje Latinske Amerike kad u Europu dođu hladni dani. Sunce, more, pješčane plaže, šareni kolonijalni gradovi, kokteli i zavodljiva plesna glazba samo su neki od razloga zašto si ondje priuštim najmanje dva tjedna godišnjeg odmora. Pritom mi većina poznanika postavlja isto pitanje - jesu li i koliko države Srednje i Južne Amerike opasne?, piše novinar Glorije Damir Leljak.

Istina je, prema mom iskustvu, negdje na sredini. Nisu sasvim sigurne, ali ni toliko nesigurne da bi ih se trebalo panično bojati. Mnogo toga je proizvod neznanja, predrasuda i bujne mašte. Dosad sam posjetio Kubu, Meksiko, Panamu, Kolumbiju i Brazil i doista mogu reći da vam se apsolutno ništa loše neće dogoditi ako se držite određenih pravila. Ja u početku nisam pa sam neke stvari morao spoznati na teži način, no o tome nešto kasnije...

Kad bolje razmislim, pravila koja vrijede za Latinsku Ameriku, vrijede i za neke veće sjevernoameričke i europske gradove. Uz razliku prilikom bukiranja smještaja. Umjesto u povijesnom središtu (centro historico), hotelske sobe ili stanove bolje je rezervirati u dijelovima grada gdje živi srednja i viša klasa. U Bogoti je to, primjerice, Zona Rosa, a u Ciudad de Mexicu La Condesa.

Te su četvrti sigurne, prepune lijepih dućana, parkova, restorana, barova i galerija. Imate dojam kao da ste negdje u Europi, a pritom su cijene mnogo povoljnije. Čak i smještaja pa noćenje s doručkom u finom hotelu stoji četrdesetak eura. Obilazak stare jezgre najbolje je obaviti danju, jer noću je uglavnom pusta i bez sadržaja, što nije slučaj sa spomenutim kvartovima.

No, gdje god da se nalazite, nemojte imati vrijedne stvari i isticati skupocjen nakit. Isto vrijedi i za mobitel: slobodno fotografirajte što želite, a onda ga spremite. Nije pametno držati uređaj cijelo vrijeme u ruci ili negdje gdje je pretjerano vidljiv, jer u sekundi može nestati. Ruksak pak nosite s prednje strane, pogotovo u javnom prijevozu i na drugim mjestima gdje je velika koncentracija ljudi.

Noćni život je ondje uistinu bogat i treba ga iskusiti, ali sigurnije je (i vrlo povoljno) pozvati taksi ili Uber nego lutati pustim i mračnim ulicama. Znam to, nažalost, iz vlastitog iskustva.

Mjesto i vrijeme radnje horor-telenovele u kojoj sam bio glavni (anti)junak bio je Ciudad de Mexico oko jedanaest navečer.

Dok sam s manjim društvom hodao mračnom i pustom uličicom nedaleko od stana kojeg smo rentali, odjednom su iz mraka "izronila" dva klinca na biciklima. Krenuli su prema meni (vjerojatno zato što sam najviše izgledao kao "gringo", kako latinosi nazivaju strance) i izvadili "skakavce". Pritom, naravno, ne mislim na kukce, već na vrstu hladnog oružja... Prislonili su ih na moja rebra i zatražili mobitel, kojeg sam srećom ostavio u stanu. Stoga sam im, bez da su išta dalje pitali, dao novac iz džepa košulje. Zgrabili su pezose i nestali.

Lokalci kojima sam to idući dan šokirano prepričavao rekli su mi da sam dobro postupio, jer u takvim situacijama je glupo junačiti se i pružati otpor. Ništa nije vrijedno života i zdravlja, koliko god to zvučalo kao klišej. Sve je trajalo samo nekoliko minuta, no trebalo mi je dosta vremena da se oslobodim nelagode i straha - što nije pokvarilo moj pozitivan dojam o Meksiku i latinoameričkim zemljama općenito.

Mnogo drugih ljepših stvari nadjačalo je jedan ružan događaj pa sam nastavio (pametnije) putovati u taj dio svijeta. Štoviše, iduće zime putujem u Buenos Aires, a karta je već kupljena!

Iz vlastitog iskustva znam da nema većeg gušta od putovanja u tople zemlje Latinske Amerike kad u Europu dođu hladni dani. Sunce, more, pješčane plaže, šareni kolonijalni gradovi, kokteli i zavodljiva plesna glazba samo su neki od razloga zašto si ondje priuštim najmanje dva tjedna godišnjeg odmora. Pritom mi većina poznanika postavlja isto pitanje - jesu li i koliko države Srednje i Južne Amerike opasne?, piše novinar Glorije Damir Leljak.

Istina je, prema mom iskustvu, negdje na sredini. Nisu sasvim sigurne, ali ni toliko nesigurne da bi ih se trebalo panično bojati. Mnogo toga je proizvod neznanja, predrasuda i bujne mašte. Dosad sam posjetio Kubu, Meksiko, Panamu, Kolumbiju i Brazil i doista mogu reći da vam se apsolutno ništa loše neće dogoditi ako se držite određenih pravila. Ja u početku nisam pa sam neke stvari morao spoznati na teži način, no o tome nešto kasnije...

Kad bolje razmislim, pravila koja vrijede za Latinsku Ameriku, vrijede i za neke veće sjevernoameričke i europske gradove. Uz razliku prilikom bukiranja smještaja. Umjesto u povijesnom središtu (centro historico), hotelske sobe ili stanove bolje je rezervirati u dijelovima grada gdje živi srednja i viša klasa. U Bogoti je to, primjerice, Zona Rosa, a u Ciudad de Mexicu La Condesa.

Te su četvrti sigurne, prepune lijepih dućana, parkova, restorana, barova i galerija. Imate dojam kao da ste negdje u Europi, a pritom su cijene mnogo povoljnije. Čak i smještaja pa noćenje s doručkom u finom hotelu stoji četrdesetak eura. Obilazak stare jezgre najbolje je obaviti danju, jer noću je uglavnom pusta i bez sadržaja, što nije slučaj sa spomenutim kvartovima.

No, gdje god da se nalazite, nemojte imati vrijedne stvari i isticati skupocjen nakit. Isto vrijedi i za mobitel: slobodno fotografirajte što želite, a onda ga spremite. Nije pametno držati uređaj cijelo vrijeme u ruci ili negdje gdje je pretjerano vidljiv, jer u sekundi može nestati. Ruksak pak nosite s prednje strane, pogotovo u javnom prijevozu i na drugim mjestima gdje je velika koncentracija ljudi.

Noćni život je ondje uistinu bogat i treba ga iskusiti, ali sigurnije je (i vrlo povoljno) pozvati taksi ili Uber nego lutati pustim i mračnim ulicama. Znam to, nažalost, iz vlastitog iskustva.

Mjesto i vrijeme radnje horor-telenovele u kojoj sam bio glavni (anti)junak bio je Ciudad de Mexico oko jedanaest navečer.

Dok sam s manjim društvom hodao mračnom i pustom uličicom nedaleko od stana kojeg smo rentali, odjednom su iz mraka "izronila" dva klinca na biciklima. Krenuli su prema meni (vjerojatno zato što sam najviše izgledao kao "gringo", kako latinosi nazivaju strance) i izvadili "skakavce". Pritom, naravno, ne mislim na kukce, već na vrstu hladnog oružja... Prislonili su ih na moja rebra i zatražili mobitel, kojeg sam srećom ostavio u stanu. Stoga sam im, bez da su išta dalje pitali, dao novac iz džepa košulje. Zgrabili su pezose i nestali.

Lokalci kojima sam to idući dan šokirano prepričavao rekli su mi da sam dobro postupio, jer u takvim situacijama je glupo junačiti se i pružati otpor. Ništa nije vrijedno života i zdravlja, koliko god to zvučalo kao klišej. Sve je trajalo samo nekoliko minuta, no trebalo mi je dosta vremena da se oslobodim nelagode i straha - što nije pokvarilo moj pozitivan dojam o Meksiku i latinoameričkim zemljama općenito.

Mnogo drugih ljepših stvari nadjačalo je jedan ružan događaj pa sam nastavio (pametnije) putovati u taj dio svijeta. Štoviše, iduće zime putujem u Buenos Aires, a karta je već kupljena!
