Genetika utječe na boju naše kose, očiju, oblik lica, a čini se da može utjecati i naše prehrambene navike te rizik od određenih bolesti povezanih s prehranom. Točnije, geni koji određuju koliko snažno možete okusiti gorke i slane okuse mogu utjecati na cjelokupnu kvalitetu vaše prehrane, piše Živim.

Julie E. Gervis, doktorandica za biokemijsku i molekularnu prehranu na Sveučilištu Tufts, predstavila je preliminarne nalaze nove studije na konferenciji American Society for Nutrition. Ona je objasnila da geni mogu utjecati na naše prehrambene navike, odnosno kakve okuse ćemo odabrati. Dodaje da bi zdravstveni radnici mogli iskoristiti ove nalaze kako bi dali personalizirane preporuke o prehrani koje mogu pomoći u smanjenju rizika od razvoja određenih kroničnih bolesti.

- Znamo da se puno ljudi bori s odabirom zdravih namirnica, ali isto tako znamo da mnogi ljudi ne znaju zašto se bore - rekla je Gervis za Verywell.

Julie i njezin tim su identificirali genetske varijante za pet okusa - gorko, slatko, slano, kiselo i umami. Istraživači su potom i osmislili "poligenski test okusa" kako bi odredili razinu percepcije za svaki okus. Viša ocjena izjednačava se s jačim osjećajem tog okusa.

Ujedno su otkrili da je viša ocjena za gorko bila povezana s konzumacijom manje hrane gorkog okusa, kao što su cjelovite žitarice, alkohol i krstašice (brokula, kelj). Međutim, istraživači nisu mjerili predstavlja li veći rezultat za određeni okusi i odbojnost prema istom. U teoriji, ako netko ne voli gorko povrće, dijetetičar bi mogao predložiti slađe alternative kao što su tikva i kukuruz.

Gervis je naglasila da razumijevanje odabira hrane može biti prvi korak u promjeni prehrambenih navika.

Utjecaj gena na okus i odabir hrane

Ova studija bila je jedna od prvih koja je ispitala kako geni za percepciju okusa mogu utjecati na izbor prehrane i kardiometaboličko zdravlje. Rezultati ove studije mogli bi doprinijeti drugačijem pristupu personaliziranoj prehrani.

Umjesto trenutnih standardnih prehrambenih preporuka za cijelu populaciju, personalizirana prehrana ponudila bi individualizirane savjete o prehrani na temelju jedinstvenog genetskog sastava osobe, životnih navika, preferencija u hrani i crijevnog mikrobioma.

Gervis je u svom izlaganju rekla da se većina dosadašnjih istraživanja o prehrani usredotočila na gene koji utječu na biološke odgovore na hranu, umjesto na gene koji utječu na odabir hrane.

Međutim, prije nego što ovo istraživanje bude potvrđeno, studiju je potrebno recenzirati i ponoviti. Gervis je dodala da se buduće studije moraju baviti različitim populacijama jer na preferencije okusa utječe i naša kultura, a ne samo naši geni.

Što to znači za nas?

Ovo je još jedan faktor koji bi se u budućnosti mogao uzimati u obzir prilikom kreiranja personaliziranih jelovnika. Naravno, potrebna su još dodatna istraživanja, ali to može značiti da će vam liječnik ili nutricionist sastaviti jelovnik koji će vam biti zaista ukusan.

Potrebno je više studija prije nego što liječnici i nutricionistici budu mogli ponuditi točne, individualizirane savjete o prehrani koji se temelje na genetici i mikrobiomima,objavio je Živim.

Genetika utječe na boju naše kose, očiju, oblik lica, a čini se da može utjecati i naše prehrambene navike te rizik od određenih bolesti povezanih s prehranom. Točnije, geni koji određuju koliko snažno možete okusiti gorke i slane okuse mogu utjecati na cjelokupnu kvalitetu vaše prehrane, piše Živim.

Julie E. Gervis, doktorandica za biokemijsku i molekularnu prehranu na Sveučilištu Tufts, predstavila je preliminarne nalaze nove studije na konferenciji American Society for Nutrition. Ona je objasnila da geni mogu utjecati na naše prehrambene navike, odnosno kakve okuse ćemo odabrati. Dodaje da bi zdravstveni radnici mogli iskoristiti ove nalaze kako bi dali personalizirane preporuke o prehrani koje mogu pomoći u smanjenju rizika od razvoja određenih kroničnih bolesti.

- Znamo da se puno ljudi bori s odabirom zdravih namirnica, ali isto tako znamo da mnogi ljudi ne znaju zašto se bore - rekla je Gervis za Verywell.

Julie i njezin tim su identificirali genetske varijante za pet okusa - gorko, slatko, slano, kiselo i umami. Istraživači su potom i osmislili "poligenski test okusa" kako bi odredili razinu percepcije za svaki okus. Viša ocjena izjednačava se s jačim osjećajem tog okusa.

Ujedno su otkrili da je viša ocjena za gorko bila povezana s konzumacijom manje hrane gorkog okusa, kao što su cjelovite žitarice, alkohol i krstašice (brokula, kelj). Međutim, istraživači nisu mjerili predstavlja li veći rezultat za određeni okusi i odbojnost prema istom. U teoriji, ako netko ne voli gorko povrće, dijetetičar bi mogao predložiti slađe alternative kao što su tikva i kukuruz.

Gervis je naglasila da razumijevanje odabira hrane može biti prvi korak u promjeni prehrambenih navika.

Utjecaj gena na okus i odabir hrane

Ova studija bila je jedna od prvih koja je ispitala kako geni za percepciju okusa mogu utjecati na izbor prehrane i kardiometaboličko zdravlje. Rezultati ove studije mogli bi doprinijeti drugačijem pristupu personaliziranoj prehrani.

Umjesto trenutnih standardnih prehrambenih preporuka za cijelu populaciju, personalizirana prehrana ponudila bi individualizirane savjete o prehrani na temelju jedinstvenog genetskog sastava osobe, životnih navika, preferencija u hrani i crijevnog mikrobioma.

Gervis je u svom izlaganju rekla da se većina dosadašnjih istraživanja o prehrani usredotočila na gene koji utječu na biološke odgovore na hranu, umjesto na gene koji utječu na odabir hrane.

Međutim, prije nego što ovo istraživanje bude potvrđeno, studiju je potrebno recenzirati i ponoviti. Gervis je dodala da se buduće studije moraju baviti različitim populacijama jer na preferencije okusa utječe i naša kultura, a ne samo naši geni.

Što to znači za nas?

Ovo je još jedan faktor koji bi se u budućnosti mogao uzimati u obzir prilikom kreiranja personaliziranih jelovnika. Naravno, potrebna su još dodatna istraživanja, ali to može značiti da će vam liječnik ili nutricionist sastaviti jelovnik koji će vam biti zaista ukusan.

Potrebno je više studija prije nego što liječnici i nutricionistici budu mogli ponuditi točne, individualizirane savjete o prehrani koji se temelje na genetici i mikrobiomima,objavio je Živim.

Geni mogu utjecati na naše prehrambene navike i rizik od određenih bolesti

Genetika utječe na boju naše kose, očiju, oblik lica, a čini se da može utjecati i naše prehrambene navike te rizik od određenih bolesti povezanih s prehranom. Točnije, geni koji određuju koliko snažno možete okusiti gorke i slane okuse mogu utjecati na cjelokupnu kvalitetu vaše prehrane, piše Živim.

Julie E. Gervis, doktorandica za biokemijsku i molekularnu prehranu na Sveučilištu Tufts, predstavila je preliminarne nalaze nove studije na konferenciji American Society for Nutrition. Ona je objasnila da geni mogu utjecati na naše prehrambene navike, odnosno kakve okuse ćemo odabrati. Dodaje da bi zdravstveni radnici mogli iskoristiti ove nalaze kako bi dali personalizirane preporuke o prehrani koje mogu pomoći u smanjenju rizika od razvoja određenih kroničnih...
