Jedna od najvećih nepoznanica s kojom se susreću zdravstveni radnici u borbi s Covidom-19 je način na koji virus bira žrtve. Najčešće od njegovih posljedica umiru starije osobe i one s kroničnim bolestima, no sve je više slučajeva smrtnog ishoda među mladim i zdravim ljudima te među medicinskim osobljem izloženim virusu koji nemaju simptoma.

U nekim se slučajevima naknadno ustanovi da je dio zaraženih bolovao od bolesti za koje nije znao, no i dalje je velik broj oboljelih od koronavirusa sa smrtnim ishodom, što pred znanstvenike postavlja nova pitanja i potiče ih da pronađu razloge za to, piše Guardian.

Više je znanstvenih pretpostavki. Neki stručnjaci smatraju da je od presudnog značaja količina virusa koja uspije ući u organizam. Što je ona veća, ishod je lošiji, smatraju neki. 

Dio ih vjeruje da je presudna genetika, odnosno da su neki ljudi genetski podložniji zarazi virusima zbog čega im se brže proširi organizmom. 

Potonjoj je pretpostavci sklon virolog Michael Skinner s londonskoga Imperial Collegea.

"Moguće je da neki među nama posjeduju specifičnu genetsku sliku zbog koje će njihov organizam na zarazu koronavirusom reagirati lošije", pojasnio je.

Kao primjer navodi slično ponašanje virusa herpesa simplexa, čija mutacija kod nekih ljudi utječe na stanične receptore poznate pod nazivom TLR3 koji se nalaze u njihovu središnjem živčanom sustavu, zbog čega se ne uspijevaju nositi s najtežom posljedicom virusa - encefalitisom, koja kod djece može rezultirati napadajima i konvulzijama. 

"Pretpostavljamo da na sličan način reagira dio zaraženih Covidom-19, zbog čega upravo oni imaju teže nuspojave", smatra Skinner.

Dio znanstvenika presudnim faktorom za ishod bolesti smatra količinu virusa kojom se određena osoba zarazi.

"Kod osobe zaražene većom količinom virusa brže se razvije više virusnih stanica nego kod onih koje su zaražene manjom količinom. Još nam je nepoznato na koji način to funkcionira u slučaju zaraze Covidom-19, zbog čega je iznimno značajno da što prije pronađemo poveznicu", smatra virologinja Alison Sinclair sa Sveučilišta Susssex

Njezino mišljenje dijeli i Edward Parker s Londonskog fakulteta za higijenu i tropsku medicinu koji podsjeća da su sličnu pretpostavku iznijeli i kineski znanstvenici koji su ustanovili da je kod teže oboljelih pacijenata pronađena veća količina virusa u organizmu, a slično se ponašaju virusi SARS-a i gripe.

I on ističe da je ključno ograničiti svako izlaganje Covidu-19, a "ako se ne osjećamo dobro, moramo poštovati ​​stroge mjere samoizolacije da bismo ograničili mogućnost zaraze drugih".

Jedna od najvećih nepoznanica s kojom se susreću zdravstveni radnici u borbi s Covidom-19 je način na koji virus bira žrtve. Najčešće od njegovih posljedica umiru starije osobe i one s kroničnim bolestima, no sve je više slučajeva smrtnog ishoda među mladim i zdravim ljudima te među medicinskim osobljem izloženim virusu koji nemaju simptoma.

U nekim se slučajevima naknadno ustanovi da je dio zaraženih bolovao od bolesti za koje nije znao, no i dalje je velik broj oboljelih od koronavirusa sa smrtnim ishodom, što pred znanstvenike postavlja nova pitanja i potiče ih da pronađu razloge za to, piše Guardian.

Više je znanstvenih pretpostavki. Neki stručnjaci smatraju da je od presudnog značaja količina virusa koja uspije ući u organizam. Što je ona veća, ishod je lošiji, smatraju neki. 

Dio ih vjeruje da je presudna genetika, odnosno da su neki ljudi genetski podložniji zarazi virusima zbog čega im se brže proširi organizmom. 

Potonjoj je pretpostavci sklon virolog Michael Skinner s londonskoga Imperial Collegea.

"Moguće je da neki među nama posjeduju specifičnu genetsku sliku zbog koje će njihov organizam na zarazu koronavirusom reagirati lošije", pojasnio je.

Kao primjer navodi slično ponašanje virusa herpesa simplexa, čija mutacija kod nekih ljudi utječe na stanične receptore poznate pod nazivom TLR3 koji se nalaze u njihovu središnjem živčanom sustavu, zbog čega se ne uspijevaju nositi s najtežom posljedicom virusa - encefalitisom, koja kod djece može rezultirati napadajima i konvulzijama. 

"Pretpostavljamo da na sličan način reagira dio zaraženih Covidom-19, zbog čega upravo oni imaju teže nuspojave", smatra Skinner.

Dio znanstvenika presudnim faktorom za ishod bolesti smatra količinu virusa kojom se određena osoba zarazi.

"Kod osobe zaražene većom količinom virusa brže se razvije više virusnih stanica nego kod onih koje su zaražene manjom količinom. Još nam je nepoznato na koji način to funkcionira u slučaju zaraze Covidom-19, zbog čega je iznimno značajno da što prije pronađemo poveznicu", smatra virologinja Alison Sinclair sa Sveučilišta Susssex

Njezino mišljenje dijeli i Edward Parker s Londonskog fakulteta za higijenu i tropsku medicinu koji podsjeća da su sličnu pretpostavku iznijeli i kineski znanstvenici koji su ustanovili da je kod teže oboljelih pacijenata pronađena veća količina virusa u organizmu, a slično se ponašaju virusi SARS-a i gripe.

I on ističe da je ključno ograničiti svako izlaganje Covidu-19, a "ako se ne osjećamo dobro, moramo poštovati ​​stroge mjere samoizolacije da bismo ograničili mogućnost zaraze drugih".

Jedna od najvećih nepoznanica s kojom se susreću zdravstveni radnici u borbi s Covidom-19 je način na koji virus bira žrtve. Najčešće od njegovih posljedica umiru starije osobe i one s kroničnim bolestima, no sve je više slučajeva smrtnog ishoda među mladim i zdravim ljudima te među medicinskim osobljem izloženim virusu koji nemaju simptoma.

U nekim se slučajevima naknadno ustanovi da je dio zaraženih bolovao od bolesti za koje nije znao, no i dalje je velik broj oboljelih od koronavirusa sa smrtnim ishodom, što pred znanstvenike postavlja nova pitanja i potiče ih da pronađu razloge za to, piše Guardian.
