Usne slavne američke filmske i kazališne glumice Mae West zauvijek su ostale “zapisane” u dizajnu još slavnijeg slikara Salvadora Dalija. Mae West i nije imala tako pune usne kakvim ih je vidio Salvador Dali, ali njegov snažan doživljaj glumičina lica najprije je ovjekovječen slikom u gvašu, grafitu i novinskom kolažu, a potom i dizajnom žarkocrvene sofe u obliku punih, senzualnih usana. U početku je sofa više bila nadrealistički objekt, a danas njezine kopije krase raskošne stanove, dok se originali čuvaju u muzejima.

Dali se za namještaj počeo zanimati nakon što je upoznao Jeana Michela Francka, slavnog dekoratera interijera toga vremena. Tome je prethodio rad slavnog Španjolca, oko 1934.-1935., kad je koristio fotografski portret glumice Mae West kako bi naslikao gvaš-sliku pod nazivom “Lice Mae West”, a koja se može doživjeti i koristiti kao nadrealistički stan.

Slika ilustrira njegov izvorni plan za sobu na temelju crta njezina lica. Nažalost, projekt je ostao neizveden sve do otvaranja Dalijeva muzeja u Figuerasu 1974. godine. Tamo je slika glumičina lica zaista izvedena kao soba čiji ulaz natkriljuju “zavjese” poput kose, sofa-usne su na sredini sobe, iza je komoda u ulozi nosa, a dvije slike iznad čine “oči”.

No koncem 1930-ih Dali je ipak uspio dati napraviti nekoliko sofa prema svom dizajnu.

Prvotno je sofu naručio važni britanski mecena Edward James, za kojeg je Dali rekao da je “kupio najboljeg Dalija”. Sofa je iste boje kao “Shocking pink” ruž za usne koji je tih tridesetih godina razvila modna dizajnerica Elsa Schiaparelli, za koju je sam Dali dizajnirao i šešire i haljine 1937.

Navodno oblik sofe ne proizlazi samo iz usana Mae West, nego i iz drugih izvora, uključujući raskošne obline Gaudijeve arhitekture. No Dali je poslije rekao kako je svoju glavnu inspiraciju uzeo iz posebno nepravilne i neugodne stjenovite formacije, hrpe kamenja u blizini Cadaquésa i Portlligata, gdje je boravio mnogo godina sa svojom suprugom Galom Eluard Dali.

Baby Vamp

Ipak se dizajn sofe najviše povezuje s popularnom glumicom koja je već u djetinjstvu dobivala uloge i rano stekla popularnost kao “Baby Vamp”. Poslije je glumila u burlesknim komedijama i bila je zvijezda music-halla. Između 1932. i 1943. glumica je snimila deset filmova, većinom komedija, neobično smjelih za to vrijeme, koji su izazivali niz skandala, a nju učinili seks-simbolom.

Bila je poznata po svojim dvosmislenim rečenicama, često sa seksualnim aluzijama, a američki filmski institut proglasio je Mae West jednom od najvećih ženskih filmskih zvijezda svih vremena.

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali... imao je još nekoliko imena, ali je znan kao Salvador Dali, pa iako nešto mlađi od glumice, bio je njezin suvremenik i očito pod utjecajem glumičine najveće slave upravo u vrijeme kad je sofa i nastala.

Sofu je 1973. “službeno” proizveo Bocaccio Design, poznat i kao BD Barcelona Design. “Lips sofa” je danas dio umjetničkih zbirki u muzeju Boijmans Van Beuningen u Rotterdamu. Druga je verzija, kako smo već spomenuli, izložena u Dalijevu kazalištu i muzeju u Figueresu u Kataloniji. Jedna verzija je izložena u muzeju Brighton, a druga je u vlasništvu Victoria and Albert Museum. Londonski V&A mjesecima je radio na tome da se uz bilo koju cijenu domogne jednog od rijetkih primjeraka sofe “Mae West Lips” za svoju stalnu zbirku. Sofa se općenito smatra jednim od najvažnijih primjera nadrealističkog namještaja ikad proizvedenog.

Usne slavne američke filmske i kazališne glumice Mae West zauvijek su ostale “zapisane” u dizajnu još slavnijeg slikara Salvadora Dalija. Mae West i nije imala tako pune usne kakvim ih je vidio Salvador Dali, ali njegov snažan doživljaj glumičina lica najprije je ovjekovječen slikom u gvašu, grafitu i novinskom kolažu, a potom i dizajnom žarkocrvene sofe u obliku punih, senzualnih usana. U početku je sofa više bila nadrealistički objekt, a danas njezine kopije krase raskošne stanove, dok se originali čuvaju u muzejima.

Raskošne obline

Dali se za namještaj počeo zanimati nakon što je upoznao Jeana Michela Francka, slavnog dekoratera interijera toga vremena. Tome je prethodio rad slavnog Španjolca, oko 1934.-1935., kad je koristio fotografski portret glumice Mae West kako bi naslikao gvaš-sliku pod nazivom “Lice Mae West”, a koja se može doživjeti i koristiti kao nadrealistički stan.

Slika ilustrira njegov izvorni plan za sobu na temelju crta njezina lica. Nažalost, projekt je ostao neizveden sve do otvaranja Dalijeva muzeja u Figuerasu 1974. godine. Tamo je slika glumičina lica zaista izvedena kao soba čiji ulaz natkriljuju “zavjese” poput kose, sofa-usne su na sredini sobe, iza je komoda u ulozi nosa, a dvije slike iznad čine “oči”.

No koncem 1930-ih Dali je ipak uspio dati napraviti nekoliko sofa prema svom dizajnu.

Prvotno je sofu naručio važni britanski mecena Edward James, za kojeg je Dali rekao da je “kupio najboljeg Dalija”. Sofa je iste boje kao “Shocking pink” ruž za usne koji je tih tridesetih godina razvila modna dizajnerica Elsa Schiaparelli, za koju je sam Dali dizajnirao i šešire i haljine 1937.

Navodno oblik sofe ne proizlazi samo iz usana Mae West, nego i iz drugih izvora, uključujući raskošne obline Gaudijeve arhitekture. No Dali je poslije rekao kako je svoju glavnu inspiraciju uzeo iz posebno nepravilne i neugodne stjenovite formacije, hrpe kamenja u blizini Cadaquésa i Portlligata, gdje je boravio mnogo godina sa svojom suprugom Galom Eluard Dali.

Baby Vamp

Ipak se dizajn sofe najviše povezuje s popularnom glumicom koja je već u djetinjstvu dobivala uloge i rano stekla popularnost kao “Baby Vamp”. Poslije je glumila u burlesknim komedijama i bila je zvijezda music-halla. Između 1932. i 1943. glumica je snimila deset filmova, većinom komedija, neobično smjelih za to vrijeme, koji su izazivali niz skandala, a nju učinili seks-simbolom.

Bila je poznata po svojim dvosmislenim rečenicama, često sa seksualnim aluzijama, a američki filmski institut proglasio je Mae West jednom od najvećih ženskih filmskih zvijezda svih vremena.

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali... imao je još nekoliko imena, ali je znan kao Salvador Dali, pa iako nešto mlađi od glumice, bio je njezin suvremenik i očito pod utjecajem glumičine najveće slave upravo u vrijeme kad je sofa i nastala.

Sofu je 1973. “službeno” proizveo Bocaccio Design, poznat i kao BD Barcelona Design. “Lips sofa” je danas dio umjetničkih zbirki u muzeju Boijmans Van Beuningen u Rotterdamu. Druga je verzija, kako smo već spomenuli, izložena u Dalijevu kazalištu i muzeju u Figueresu u Kataloniji. Jedna verzija je izložena u muzeju Brighton, a druga je u vlasništvu Victoria and Albert Museum. Londonski V&A mjesecima je radio na tome da se uz bilo koju cijenu domogne jednog od rijetkih primjeraka sofe “Mae West Lips” za svoju stalnu zbirku. Sofa se općenito smatra jednim od najvažnijih primjera nadrealističkog namještaja ikad proizvedenog.

Usne slavne američke filmske i kazališne glumice Mae West zauvijek su ostale “zapisane” u dizajnu još slavnijeg slikara Salvadora Dalija. Mae West i nije imala tako pune usne kakvim ih je vidio Salvador Dali, ali njegov snažan doživljaj glumičina lica najprije je ovjekovječen slikom u gvašu, grafitu i novinskom kolažu, a potom i dizajnom žarkocrvene sofe u obliku punih, senzualnih usana. U početku je sofa više bila nadrealistički objekt, a danas njezine kopije krase raskošne stanove, dok se originali čuvaju u muzejima.

Raskošne obline

Dali se za namještaj počeo zanimati nakon što je upoznao Jeana Michela Francka, slavnog dekoratera interijera toga vremena. Tome je prethodio rad slavnog Španjolca, oko 1934.-1935., kad je koristio fotograf...
