Invazivna vrsta mrava porijeklom iz Južne Amerike poznata po svom bolnom ubodu nedavno je otkrivena na jugu Francuske, piše National geographic.

Znanstvenik Olivier Blight s Mediteranskog instituta za biodiverzitet i ekologiju na Univerzitetu u Avinjonu otkriva da su električni, odnosno vatreni mravi otkriveni u Toulonu, na jugu Francuske. Prema njegovim riječima, ovi su kukci do sada na europskom tlu bili zabilježeni samo na području Malage u Španjolskoj, piše National geographic.

Blight je za francuske medije rekao da je u Toulonu otkrivena njihova ‘super-kolonija‘, što znači da na tom mjestu žive više od godinu dana. Njegova pretpostavka je da su tu stigli prilikom transporta biljaka iz Južne Amerike, što ne iznenađuje jer su se na sličan način do sada proširili i na Kinu, SAD, Australiju, Novi Zeland i Filipine. 

Wasmannia auropunctata , odnosno električni mravi izuzetno su invazivni - čak i kada se kreću sporo. Naime, jedinke ove vrste kombiniraju klasičnu spolnu reprodukciju s proizvodnjom matica i mužjaka kloniranjem, objasnio je stručnjak. 

- Njihova snaga leži u brojnosti koju imaju, dodao je i objasnio da njihov ubod izaziva osjećaj peckanja sličan koprivi, koji je intenzivniji i može trajati do tri sata. Ovi mravi ubod koriste kao oružje za uništavanje drugih insekata, a može izazvati sljepilo kod nekih životinja. Kod ljudi, uz bolni ubod, električni mrav može izazvati i anafilaktički šok.

Blight također tvrdi da je iskorjenjivanje ove vrste mrava skupo, navodeći primjer Queenslanda u Australiji koji je od 2006. godine potrošio 30 milijuna dolara za borbu protiv njih. Također je apelirao na sve članice Europske unije da naprave plan za iskorjenjivanje ovog insekta.

Invazivna vrsta mrava porijeklom iz Južne Amerike poznata po svom bolnom ubodu nedavno je otkrivena na jugu Francuske, piše National geographic.

Znanstvenik Olivier Blight s Mediteranskog instituta za biodiverzitet i ekologiju na Univerzitetu u Avinjonu otkriva da su električni, odnosno vatreni mravi otkriveni u Toulonu, na jugu Francuske. Prema njegovim riječima, ovi su kukci do sada na europskom tlu bili zabilježeni samo na području Malage u Španjolskoj, piše National geographic.

Blight je za francuske medije rekao da je u Toulonu otkrivena njihova ‘super-kolonija‘, što znači da na tom mjestu žive više od godinu dana. Njegova pretpostavka je da su tu stigli prilikom transporta biljaka iz Južne Amerike, što ne iznenađuje jer su se na sličan način do sada proširili i na Kinu, SAD, Australiju, Novi Zeland i Filipine. 

Wasmannia auropunctata , odnosno električni mravi izuzetno su invazivni - čak i kada se kreću sporo. Naime, jedinke ove vrste kombiniraju klasičnu spolnu reprodukciju s proizvodnjom matica i mužjaka kloniranjem, objasnio je stručnjak. 

- Njihova snaga leži u brojnosti koju imaju, dodao je i objasnio da njihov ubod izaziva osjećaj peckanja sličan koprivi, koji je intenzivniji i može trajati do tri sata. Ovi mravi ubod koriste kao oružje za uništavanje drugih insekata, a može izazvati sljepilo kod nekih životinja. Kod ljudi, uz bolni ubod, električni mrav može izazvati i anafilaktički šok.

Blight također tvrdi da je iskorjenjivanje ove vrste mrava skupo, navodeći primjer Queenslanda u Australiji koji je od 2006. godine potrošio 30 milijuna dolara za borbu protiv njih. Također je apelirao na sve članice Europske unije da naprave plan za iskorjenjivanje ovog insekta.

Invazivna vrsta mrava porijeklom iz Južne Amerike poznata po svom bolnom ubodu nedavno je otkrivena na jugu Francuske, piše National geographic.

Znanstvenik Olivier Blight s Mediteranskog instituta za biodiverzitet i ekologiju na Univerzitetu u Avinjonu otkriva da su električni, odnosno vatreni mravi otkriveni u Toulonu, na jugu Francuske. Prema njegovim riječima, ovi su kukci do sada na europskom tlu bili zabilježeni samo na području Malage u Španjolskoj, piše National geographic.

Blight je za francuske medije rekao da je u Toulonu otkrivena njihova ‘super-kolonija‘, što znači da na tom mjestu žive više od godinu dana. Njegova pretpostavka je da su tu stigli prilikom transporta biljaka iz Južne Amerike, što ne iznenađuje jer su se na sličan način do sada...
