Ne moći pronaći svoju djecu, noćna je mora svakoga roditelja, naročito majke. A upravo to se dogodilo Lani Szarmach, koja je punih 40 godina tražila svoje dvije kćeri, Starlu i Jeannie.

Lani je Tajlanđanka koja je upravo tamo upoznala čovjeka koji je tu boravio za vrijeme Vijetnamskog rata jer je radio za Zrakoplovne snage SAD-a. Njih dvoje su se zaljubili, vjenčali i preselili u Sjedinjene Američke Države, u Ohio. Tu su dobili prvu kćer, Jeannie, a nakon toga preselili su se u u Englesku, u Oxford, te dobili drugu kćer, Starlu.

Nakon dvije godine života u Oxfordu njih dvoje su se razveli. Budući da Tajlanđanka Lani nije dobro znala engleski jezik, nije shvatila da je potpisala kako se odriče svih prava da ikada više vidi svoje kćeri. U trenutku rastave Starla i Jeannie imale su tek dvije, odnosno tri godine. I za njih i za majku bilo je to traumatično iskustvo.

Ali od trenutka rastave pa do danas, puna četiri desetljeća, mama Lani i kćeri Starla i Jeannie pokušavaju se pronaći. I danas su, zahvaljujući upornosti, domišljatosti i društvenim mrežama, konačno opet na okupu.

Starla i Jeannie, kada su malo odrasle, počele su tražiti majku, i to dubinski i temeljito, po različitim bazama podataka. Ali nisu imale uspjeha.

S vremenom počele su se pitati trebaju li prestati tražiti majku i pokušati živjeti normalno, usmjeriti se prema budućnosti, a ne prema prošlosti.

I kada je potraga zapela u slijepoj ulici, a neriješeni pronalazak majke postao trajno stanje, Starla je na Facebooku dobila poruku od stanovitoga Marka Szarmacha. On je bio Lanin drugi suprug i dugo joj je pomagao pronaći izgubljene kćeri.

Zbog Laninog naglaska pomislio je da se Starla zove Stella, a Jeannie Jenny. Njegova potraga, logično, zapala je u slijepu ulicu.

Srećom, Mark je znao ime Lanina prvoga supruga, Johna Thompsona, no nažalost, ono je u SAD-u često te je provjeravao puno ljudi s tim imenom. S vremenom je ipak pronašao osmrtnicu Johna Thompsona te je tim putem saznao za imena njegovih kćeri, što mu je olakšalo potragu. Našao je na Facebooku profil Jeannie Toomey i kada je vidio njenu fotografiju, sve mu je bilo jasno.

Nakon toga Mark ju je kontaktirao, najprije je šokiravši, pa oduševivši. Nedugo nakon toga došlo je do sureta majke i njenih kćeri, a time i do mogućnosti da u stvarnost provedu ono o čemu su sanjale punih 40 godina.

Ne moći pronaći svoju djecu, noćna je mora svakoga roditelja, naročito majke. A upravo to se dogodilo Lani Szarmach, koja je punih 40 godina tražila svoje dvije kćeri, Starlu i Jeannie.

Lani je Tajlanđanka koja je upravo tamo upoznala čovjeka koji je tu boravio za vrijeme Vijetnamskog rata jer je radio za Zrakoplovne snage SAD-a. Njih dvoje su se zaljubili, vjenčali i preselili u Sjedinjene Američke Države, u Ohio. Tu su dobili prvu kćer, Jeannie, a nakon toga preselili su se u u Englesku, u Oxford, te dobili drugu kćer, Starlu.

Nakon dvije godine života u Oxfordu njih dvoje su se razveli. Budući da Tajlanđanka Lani nije dobro znala engleski jezik, nije shvatila da je potpisala kako se odriče svih prava da ikada više vidi svoje kćeri. U trenutku rastave Starla i Jeannie imale su tek dvije, odnosno tri godine. I za njih i za majku bilo je to traumatično iskustvo.

Ali od trenutka rastave pa do danas, puna četiri desetljeća, mama Lani i kćeri Starla i Jeannie pokušavaju se pronaći. I danas su, zahvaljujući upornosti, domišljatosti i društvenim mrežama, konačno opet na okupu.

Starla i Jeannie, kada su malo odrasle, počele su tražiti majku, i to dubinski i temeljito, po različitim bazama podataka. Ali nisu imale uspjeha.

S vremenom počele su se pitati trebaju li prestati tražiti majku i pokušati živjeti normalno, usmjeriti se prema budućnosti, a ne prema prošlosti.

I kada je potraga zapela u slijepoj ulici, a neriješeni pronalazak majke postao trajno stanje, Starla je na Facebooku dobila poruku od stanovitoga Marka Szarmacha. On je bio Lanin drugi suprug i dugo joj je pomagao pronaći izgubljene kćeri.

Zbog Laninog naglaska pomislio je da se Starla zove Stella, a Jeannie Jenny. Njegova potraga, logično, zapala je u slijepu ulicu.

Srećom, Mark je znao ime Lanina prvoga supruga, Johna Thompsona, no nažalost, ono je u SAD-u često te je provjeravao puno ljudi s tim imenom. S vremenom je ipak pronašao osmrtnicu Johna Thompsona te je tim putem saznao za imena njegovih kćeri, što mu je olakšalo potragu. Našao je na Facebooku profil Jeannie Toomey i kada je vidio njenu fotografiju, sve mu je bilo jasno.

Nakon toga Mark ju je kontaktirao, najprije je šokiravši, pa oduševivši. Nedugo nakon toga došlo je do sureta majke i njenih kćeri, a time i do mogućnosti da u stvarnost provedu ono o čemu su sanjale punih 40 godina.
