Znanstvenici pozivaju proizvođače hrane da dodaju vitamin D uobičajenoj hrani poput kruha i mlijeka kako bi pomogli u borbi protiv COVID-a 19. Gotovo polovici stanovništva Velike Britanije nedostaje vitamina D, a čini se da vladine smjernice da bi ljudi trebali uzimati suplemente ne djeluju, piše The Guardian.

Prema nekim studijama, niske razine vitamina D, koji naše tijelo proizvodi kao odgovor na jaku sunčevu svjetlost, mogu dovesti do većeg rizika od zaraze koronavirusom ili do ozbiljnijih posljedica infekcije. Istraživači u Španjolskoj otkrili su da 82% pacijenata s koronavirusom od 216 primljenih u bolnicu ima nisku razinu vitamina D. Neka druga istraživanja pak pokazuju da razina vitamina D ima malo ili nimalo utjecaja na COVID-19, gripu i druge respiratorne bolesti.

Nedostatak vitamina D može kod djece uzrokovati rahitis, a kod odraslih osteomalaciju, omekšavanje kostiju koje dovodi do deformacija. Djeca s ozbiljnim nedostatkom vitamina D sklona su i niskoj razini kalcija u krvi, što može dovesti do napadaja i zatajenja srca.

- Po mome mišljenju, jasno je da vitamin D ne samo da može zaštititi od ozbiljnosti bolesti, već može zaštititi i od infekcija. Za obogaćivanje hrane trebalo bi pažljivo planirati kako to učinkovito provesti, posebno jer neki ljudi sada već uzimaju dodatke prehrani. Odabir prave hrane za suplementiranje trebao bi biti pažljiv. Ali jasno je da trenutna politika ne funkcionira - barem polovica stanovništva ima nedostatak vitamina D - rekao je Dr. Davise za The Guardian.

- Vlada preporučuje da cijela populacija uzima dodatke vitamina D u zimskim mjesecima, a da ih osobe u visokorizičnim skupinama uzimaju tijekom cijele godine. Ali znamo da to ljudi jednostavno ne rade u dovoljno značajnom broju - rekao je Adrian Martineau, profesor respiratorne infekcije sa Sveučilišta "Queen Mary" u Londonu, koji vodi još jedno kliničko ispitivanje kako bi ispitao može li vitamin D smanjiti rizik od COVID-a 19 ili njegovu ozbiljnost. 

Naša tijela proizvode vitamin D kao odgovor na jaku sunčevu svjetlost. To znači da bi se od listopada do ožujka ljudi morali oslanjati na njegove druge izvore: masnu ribu, jaja i dodatke prehrani. Usprkos upozorenjima da bi se trebalo državno regulirati obogaćivanje vitaminom D iz državne uprave, tu odluku i dalje prepuštaju proizvođačima.

- Tvrtke su slobodne obogatiti prehrambene proizvode vitaminom D i to već čine za brojne namirnice, uključujući mnoge žitarice za doručak. Public Health England savjetuje ljudima da uzimaju dodatak vitamina D tijekom jeseni i zime, što je osobito važno ove godine jer su mnogi ljudi proveli više vremena u zatvorenom zbog COVID-a 19 - rekao je glasnogovornik Odjela za zdravstvo i socijalnu skrb Velike Britanije.

Znanstvenici pozivaju proizvođače hrane da dodaju vitamin D uobičajenoj hrani poput kruha i mlijeka kako bi pomogli u borbi protiv COVID-a 19. Gotovo polovici stanovništva Velike Britanije nedostaje vitamina D, a čini se da vladine smjernice da bi ljudi trebali uzimati suplemente ne djeluju, piše The Guardian.

Prema nekim studijama, niske razine vitamina D, koji naše tijelo proizvodi kao odgovor na jaku sunčevu svjetlost, mogu dovesti do većeg rizika od zaraze koronavirusom ili do ozbiljnijih posljedica infekcije. Istraživači u Španjolskoj otkrili su da 82% pacijenata s koronavirusom od 216 primljenih u bolnicu ima nisku razinu vitamina D. Neka druga istraživanja pak pokazuju da razina vitamina D ima malo ili nimalo utjecaja na COVID-19, gripu i druge respiratorne bolesti.

Nedostatak vitamina D može kod djece uzrokovati rahitis, a kod odraslih osteomalaciju, omekšavanje kostiju koje dovodi do deformacija. Djeca s ozbiljnim nedostatkom vitamina D sklona su i niskoj razini kalcija u krvi, što može dovesti do napadaja i zatajenja srca.

- Po mome mišljenju, jasno je da vitamin D ne samo da može zaštititi od ozbiljnosti bolesti, već može zaštititi i od infekcija. Za obogaćivanje hrane trebalo bi pažljivo planirati kako to učinkovito provesti, posebno jer neki ljudi sada već uzimaju dodatke prehrani. Odabir prave hrane za suplementiranje trebao bi biti pažljiv. Ali jasno je da trenutna politika ne funkcionira - barem polovica stanovništva ima nedostatak vitamina D - rekao je Dr. Davise za The Guardian.

- Vlada preporučuje da cijela populacija uzima dodatke vitamina D u zimskim mjesecima, a da ih osobe u visokorizičnim skupinama uzimaju tijekom cijele godine. Ali znamo da to ljudi jednostavno ne rade u dovoljno značajnom broju - rekao je Adrian Martineau, profesor respiratorne infekcije sa Sveučilišta "Queen Mary" u Londonu, koji vodi još jedno kliničko ispitivanje kako bi ispitao može li vitamin D smanjiti rizik od COVID-a 19 ili njegovu ozbiljnost. 

Naša tijela proizvode vitamin D kao odgovor na jaku sunčevu svjetlost. To znači da bi se od listopada do ožujka ljudi morali oslanjati na njegove druge izvore: masnu ribu, jaja i dodatke prehrani. Usprkos upozorenjima da bi se trebalo državno regulirati obogaćivanje vitaminom D iz državne uprave, tu odluku i dalje prepuštaju proizvođačima.

- Tvrtke su slobodne obogatiti prehrambene proizvode vitaminom D i to već čine za brojne namirnice, uključujući mnoge žitarice za doručak. Public Health England savjetuje ljudima da uzimaju dodatak vitamina D tijekom jeseni i zime, što je osobito važno ove godine jer su mnogi ljudi proveli više vremena u zatvorenom zbog COVID-a 19 - rekao je glasnogovornik Odjela za zdravstvo i socijalnu skrb Velike Britanije.

Znanstvenici pozivaju proizvođače hrane da dodaju vitamin D uobičajenoj hrani poput kruha i mlijeka kako bi pomogli u borbi protiv COVID-a 19. Gotovo polovici stanovništva Velike Britanije nedostaje vitamina D, a čini se da vladine smjernice da bi ljudi trebali uzimati suplemente ne djeluju, piše The Guardian.

Prema nekim studijama, niske razine vitamina D, koji naše tijelo proizvodi kao odgovor na jaku sunčevu svjetlost, mogu dovesti do većeg rizika od zaraze koronavirusom ili do ozbiljnijih posljedica infekcije. Istraživači u Španjolskoj otkrili su da 82% pacijenata s koronavirusom od 216 primljenih u bolnicu ima nisku razinu vitamina D. Neka druga istraživanja pak pokazuju da razina vitamina D ima malo ili nimalo utjecaja na COVID-19, gripu i druge respiratorne...
