Na predstavu koja se najduže zadržala na Broadwayu – ‘Fantom iz opere‘ - izvedenu skoro 14 tisuća puta tijekom 35 godina, spustio se zastor posljednji put.

Preciznije: predstava koja se igrala u nedjelju pred rasprodanim gledalištem u kazalištu Majestic kod Times Squarea bila je izvedba broj 13.981. Publika od 1600 ljudi stajajući je aplaudirala dok se njen autor Andrew Lloyd Webber pridružio izvođačima na pozornici.

Od premijere u siječnju 1988. megahit mjuzikl britanskog skladatelja, ovjenčan najvišim nagradama, nije prestao oduševljavati Newyorčane i turiste, postavši simbol slavne kazališne četvrti. Gradonačelnik New Yorka Eric Adams uručio je slavnom skladatelju ključ grada uoči vikenda na Broadwayu.

Priču o unakaženom geniju koji poput duha luta katakombama ispod pariške Opere, čije srce pati za mladom sopranisticom Christine, a njoj se opet udvara bogati mecena, vidjelo je 20 milijuna ljudi, a od prodaje ulaznica predstava je zaradila više od 1,4 milijarde dolara.

No producenti su odlučili zauvijek je skinuti sa pozornice nakon što se predstava teško oporavila nakon 18-mjesečnog zatvaranja Broadwaya tijekom pandemije covida-19. Britanski producent Cameron Mackintosh izjavio je za New York Times u rujnu prošle godine da je produkcija počela stvarati gubitke zbog sporog povratka međunarodnih posjetitelja u grad nakon pandemije.

Tjedni troškovi narasli su na 950.000 dolara, za postavu mjuzikla potrebno je 125 glumaca, glazbenika i tehničara, a tijekom 35 godina zapošljavala je 6500 ljudi, uključujući 450 izvođača. Umjetnici odijevaju 230 kostima, a samo šminkanje Phantoma prije izlaska na pozornicu traje dva sata. Jedna od najupečatljivijih scena je ona u kojoj luster promjera tri metra i težak jednu tonu pada na pozornicu, brzinom od 2,5 metra u sekundi.

Najava da će se ‘Fantom u operi‘ prestati prikazivati toliko je povećala potražnju za ulaznicama da je datum zatvaranja pomaknut s veljače na travanj. Uoči završne nedjeljne izvedbe posljednje ulaznice prodavale su se za više od 500 dolara na stranicama za rezervaciju.

Predstava prema istoimenom francuskom romanu Gastona Lerouxa osvojila je sedam nagrada Tony 1988. godine, uključujući i nagradu za najbolji mjuzikl, a od siječnja 2006. godine postala je najduža predstava u povijesti Broadwaya.

‘Fantom iz opere‘ praizveden je 1986. u Londonu, gdje se i dalje izvodi. Rekord za najdugovječniji mjuzikl na Broadwayu sada pripada ‘Chicagu‘, koji je premijerno izveden 1996. godine, ispred "Kralja lavova", koji je premijerno prikazan godinu poslije. No, na londonskom West Endu ‘Fantom‘ je po gledanosti iza ‘Mišolovke‘ i ‘Jadnika‘.

Četrdeset i jedno kazalište na Broadwayu u blizini Times Squarea koji čine kulturno i turističko srce New Yorka imaju u prosjeku između 200.000 i 300.000 gledatelja svaki tjedan, ostvarujući prihod od više od 30 milijuna dolara tjedno. Kazalištu Majestic predstoji cjelovita obnova.

Andrew Lloyd Webber jedan je od najuspješnijih britanskih umjetnika i najpoznatiji skladatelj mjuzikla, koje su gledali i slušali milijuni ljudi: ‘Mačke‘, ‘Isus Krist superzvijezda‘, ‘Evita‘, ‘Fantom u operi‘ samo su neki od ukupno 15 njegovih ostvarenja. Za zasluge u umjetnosti dobio je vitešku titulu, a na blockbuster mjuziklima izgradio je bogatstvo od milijardu dolara, jedan je od najbogatijih britanskih glazbenika.

U vrijeme kada je postavljao ‘Fantoma u operi‘ zaljubio se u britansku pjevačicu Sarah Brightman kojoj je namjenio ulogu Christine u mjuziklu, a nakon što su se oboje razveli stupili su u brak, o čemu su britanski mediji iscrpno pisali. No, brak je trajao puno kraće od mjuzikla, svega šest godina.

Na predstavu koja se najduže zadržala na Broadwayu – ‘Fantom iz opere‘ - izvedenu skoro 14 tisuća puta tijekom 35 godina, spustio se zastor posljednji put.

Preciznije: predstava koja se igrala u nedjelju pred rasprodanim gledalištem u kazalištu Majestic kod Times Squarea bila je izvedba broj 13.981. Publika od 1600 ljudi stajajući je aplaudirala dok se njen autor Andrew Lloyd Webber pridružio izvođačima na pozornici.

Od premijere u siječnju 1988. megahit mjuzikl britanskog skladatelja, ovjenčan najvišim nagradama, nije prestao oduševljavati Newyorčane i turiste, postavši simbol slavne kazališne četvrti. Gradonačelnik New Yorka Eric Adams uručio je slavnom skladatelju ključ grada uoči vikenda na Broadwayu.

Priču o unakaženom geniju koji poput duha luta katakombama ispod pariške Opere, čije srce pati za mladom sopranisticom Christine, a njoj se opet udvara bogati mecena, vidjelo je 20 milijuna ljudi, a od prodaje ulaznica predstava je zaradila više od 1,4 milijarde dolara.

No producenti su odlučili zauvijek je skinuti sa pozornice nakon što se predstava teško oporavila nakon 18-mjesečnog zatvaranja Broadwaya tijekom pandemije covida-19. Britanski producent Cameron Mackintosh izjavio je za New York Times u rujnu prošle godine da je produkcija počela stvarati gubitke zbog sporog povratka međunarodnih posjetitelja u grad nakon pandemije.

Tjedni troškovi narasli su na 950.000 dolara, za postavu mjuzikla potrebno je 125 glumaca, glazbenika i tehničara, a tijekom 35 godina zapošljavala je 6500 ljudi, uključujući 450 izvođača. Umjetnici odijevaju 230 kostima, a samo šminkanje Phantoma prije izlaska na pozornicu traje dva sata. Jedna od najupečatljivijih scena je ona u kojoj luster promjera tri metra i težak jednu tonu pada na pozornicu, brzinom od 2,5 metra u sekundi.

Najava da će se ‘Fantom u operi‘ prestati prikazivati toliko je povećala potražnju za ulaznicama da je datum zatvaranja pomaknut s veljače na travanj. Uoči završne nedjeljne izvedbe posljednje ulaznice prodavale su se za više od 500 dolara na stranicama za rezervaciju.

Predstava prema istoimenom francuskom romanu Gastona Lerouxa osvojila je sedam nagrada Tony 1988. godine, uključujući i nagradu za najbolji mjuzikl, a od siječnja 2006. godine postala je najduža predstava u povijesti Broadwaya.

‘Fantom iz opere‘ praizveden je 1986. u Londonu, gdje se i dalje izvodi. Rekord za najdugovječniji mjuzikl na Broadwayu sada pripada ‘Chicagu‘, koji je premijerno izveden 1996. godine, ispred "Kralja lavova", koji je premijerno prikazan godinu poslije. No, na londonskom West Endu ‘Fantom‘ je po gledanosti iza ‘Mišolovke‘ i ‘Jadnika‘.

Četrdeset i jedno kazalište na Broadwayu u blizini Times Squarea koji čine kulturno i turističko srce New Yorka imaju u prosjeku između 200.000 i 300.000 gledatelja svaki tjedan, ostvarujući prihod od više od 30 milijuna dolara tjedno. Kazalištu Majestic predstoji cjelovita obnova.

Andrew Lloyd Webber jedan je od najuspješnijih britanskih umjetnika i najpoznatiji skladatelj mjuzikla, koje su gledali i slušali milijuni ljudi: ‘Mačke‘, ‘Isus Krist superzvijezda‘, ‘Evita‘, ‘Fantom u operi‘ samo su neki od ukupno 15 njegovih ostvarenja. Za zasluge u umjetnosti dobio je vitešku titulu, a na blockbuster mjuziklima izgradio je bogatstvo od milijardu dolara, jedan je od najbogatijih britanskih glazbenika.

U vrijeme kada je postavljao ‘Fantoma u operi‘ zaljubio se u britansku pjevačicu Sarah Brightman kojoj je namjenio ulogu Christine u mjuziklu, a nakon što su se oboje razveli stupili su u brak, o čemu su britanski mediji iscrpno pisali. No, brak je trajao puno kraće od mjuzikla, svega šest godina.
