Danas, u ponedjeljak 27. rujna, s početkom u 20 sati u Preporodnoj dvorani Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti u Zagrebu, u organizaciji Hrvatskog društva skladatelja i Cantusa održat će se autorski koncert 'In memoriam – Ruben Radica'.

Ruben Radica rođen je 19. svibnja 1931. u Splitu. Već u predškolskoj dobi započelo je skladateljevo glazbeno naukovanje kod djeda Josipa Hatzea, a nastavit će se sve do odlaska na studij na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu.

Nakon rata u rodnom gradu završava Klasičnu gimnaziju, maturiravši u razredu koji je inače u Splitu poznat kao rasadište ponajboljih inženjera, profesora, liječnika i drugih stručnjaka.

Položivši prijamni ispit na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu bez ikakvog prethodnog formalnog obrazovanja, "samo" s podukom koju je dobio od svog slavnog djeda, Radica je uspješno diplomirao dirigiranje u razredu Slavka Zlatića te kompoziciju u razredu Milka Kelemena.

Upravo je studij kompozicije kod tek sedam godina starijeg Kelemena, trasirao skladateljski put Rubena Radice prema najsuvremenijim tendencijama europske glazbe druge polovine 20. stoljeća.

Skladateljsko usavršavanje potom će nastaviti kod nekih od najvažnijih protagonista glazbene povijesti prošloga stoljeća.

Najprije na akademiji Accademia Musicale Chigiana u Sieni kod Vita Frazzija (1959.), zahvaljujući stipendiji koju je osvojio na međunarodnom natječaju, potom u Darmstadtu u više navrata, kod G. Ligetija, P. Bouleza i H. Pousseura na Međunarodnim tečajevima za Novu glazbu i, možda najvažnije, u Parizu kod O. Messiaena i R. Leibowitza.

Boravak u Parizu (potpomognut ondašnjom državnom stipendijom Saveznog izvršnog vijeća, tadašnje savezne Vlade) i upoznavanje s Messiaenovom skladateljskom teorijom ostavilo je svakako najdublji trag, ne samo na njegovo skladanje nego i na kasniji profesorski rad i nadopunu sadržaja predmeta Aspekti suvremene glazbe koji je na Muzičkoj akademiji pokrenuo Natko Devčić 1968. godine.

Nakon četverogodišnjeg boravka u Sarajevu (na Muzičkoj akademiji predavao je od 1959. do 1963. godine), dobiva poziv s Muzičke akademije u Zagrebu, gdje je 1963. postao docentom, a gotovo cjelokupni radni vijek proveo je poučavajući predmete Polifonija (renesansna i barokna) te Aspekti suvremene glazbe.

Godine 1978. postaje redovitim profesorom, a od 1981. do 1985. obnašao je i dužnost dekana Muzičke akademije. Od 1990. postaje članom suradnikom, a od 2000. i redovitim članom Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti.

U prvome desetljeću novoga stoljeća još uvijek je posvećen skladanju, međutim postupno pogoršavanje zdravlja, i osobito problemi s vidom, udaljit će ga od primarne životne preokupacije i primorati da donese odluku o okončanju skladateljskog rada.

Sveučilište u Zagrebu dodjeljuje mu 2012. godine počasnu titulu prefessor emeritus.

Snažna volja za životom pomogla mu je da se nekoliko puta othrva gotovo sigurnom svršetku, a osobno je predložio i skladbe planirane za svoj svečani obljetnički koncert povodom 90. rođendana, koji je, iako u iznimno teškom zdravstvenom stanju, dočekao 19. svibnja 2021. u krugu obitelji.

Odgođen rođendanski koncert, međutim, nije dočekao, te je odabrani repertoar postao ujedno i njegovim glazbenim oproštajem, obvezavši umjetnike da na poseban način publici prenesu dio njegove glazbene oporuke. Ruben Radica umro je u Zagrebu 28. srpnja.

Danas, u ponedjeljak 27. rujna, s početkom u 20 sati u Preporodnoj dvorani Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti u Zagrebu, u organizaciji Hrvatskog društva skladatelja i Cantusa održat će se autorski koncert 'In memoriam – Ruben Radica'.

Ruben Radica rođen je 19. svibnja 1931. u Splitu. Već u predškolskoj dobi započelo je skladateljevo glazbeno naukovanje kod djeda Josipa Hatzea, a nastavit će se sve do odlaska na studij na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu.

Nakon rata u rodnom gradu završava Klasičnu gimnaziju, maturiravši u razredu koji je inače u Splitu poznat kao rasadište ponajboljih inženjera, profesora, liječnika i drugih stručnjaka.

Položivši prijamni ispit na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu bez ikakvog prethodnog formalnog obrazovanja, "samo" s podukom koju je dobio od svog slavnog djeda, Radica je uspješno diplomirao dirigiranje u razredu Slavka Zlatića te kompoziciju u razredu Milka Kelemena.

Upravo je studij kompozicije kod tek sedam godina starijeg Kelemena, trasirao skladateljski put Rubena Radice prema najsuvremenijim tendencijama europske glazbe druge polovine 20. stoljeća.

Skladateljsko usavršavanje potom će nastaviti kod nekih od najvažnijih protagonista glazbene povijesti prošloga stoljeća.

Najprije na akademiji Accademia Musicale Chigiana u Sieni kod Vita Frazzija (1959.), zahvaljujući stipendiji koju je osvojio na međunarodnom natječaju, potom u Darmstadtu u više navrata, kod G. Ligetija, P. Bouleza i H. Pousseura na Međunarodnim tečajevima za Novu glazbu i, možda najvažnije, u Parizu kod O. Messiaena i R. Leibowitza.

Boravak u Parizu (potpomognut ondašnjom državnom stipendijom Saveznog izvršnog vijeća, tadašnje savezne Vlade) i upoznavanje s Messiaenovom skladateljskom teorijom ostavilo je svakako najdublji trag, ne samo na njegovo skladanje nego i na kasniji profesorski rad i nadopunu sadržaja predmeta Aspekti suvremene glazbe koji je na Muzičkoj akademiji pokrenuo Natko Devčić 1968. godine.

Nakon četverogodišnjeg boravka u Sarajevu (na Muzičkoj akademiji predavao je od 1959. do 1963. godine), dobiva poziv s Muzičke akademije u Zagrebu, gdje je 1963. postao docentom, a gotovo cjelokupni radni vijek proveo je poučavajući predmete Polifonija (renesansna i barokna) te Aspekti suvremene glazbe.

Godine 1978. postaje redovitim profesorom, a od 1981. do 1985. obnašao je i dužnost dekana Muzičke akademije. Od 1990. postaje članom suradnikom, a od 2000. i redovitim članom Hrvatske akademije znanosti i umjetnosti.

U prvome desetljeću novoga stoljeća još uvijek je posvećen skladanju, međutim postupno pogoršavanje zdravlja, i osobito problemi s vidom, udaljit će ga od primarne životne preokupacije i primorati da donese odluku o okončanju skladateljskog rada.

Sveučilište u Zagrebu dodjeljuje mu 2012. godine počasnu titulu prefessor emeritus.

Snažna volja za životom pomogla mu je da se nekoliko puta othrva gotovo sigurnom svršetku, a osobno je predložio i skladbe planirane za svoj svečani obljetnički koncert povodom 90. rođendana, koji je, iako u iznimno teškom zdravstvenom stanju, dočekao 19. svibnja 2021. u krugu obitelji.

Odgođen rođendanski koncert, međutim, nije dočekao, te je odabrani repertoar postao ujedno i njegovim glazbenim oproštajem, obvezavši umjetnike da na poseban način publici prenesu dio njegove glazbene oporuke. Ruben Radica umro je u Zagrebu 28. srpnja.
