Projekcija sjajnog i potresnog dokumentarca "Za Samu" obilježit će prvo izdanje Riječkog filmskog foruma, kojim napokon Rijeka ima svoj pravi festival filma. "For Sama" je trebao ostvariti hrvatsku premijeru na ZagrebDoxu, no korona je do daljnjega odgodila njegovo održavanje.

Ipak, međunarodni festival dokumentarnog filma ustupio je RiFF-u "Za Samu" i projekcija dokumentarca održava se u suradnji sa ZGDoxom. RiFF je tako dobio premijeru jednog od najzvučnijih dokumentarnih filmova posljednjih godina, dokumentarca s pedigreom.

Dovoljno je spomenuti kako je "Za Samu" imao premijeru u Cannesu i, još više, da se našao u ovogodišnjoj utrci za Oscara u kategoriji najboljeg dugometražnog dokumentarca, gdje je i bio najbolji sa sjevernomakedonskom "Medenom zemljom", ali mu je zlatni kipić izmakao na račun "American Factory".

Osvojio je, zato, Europskog Oscara i ušao u povijest kao prvi dokumentarac nominiran za čak četiri BAFTA-e. Treba reći da su sve nagrade apsolutno zaslužene za dokumentarni film sirijske aktivistice i novinarke Waad Al-Kateab i britanskog redatelja Edwarda Wattsa.

Vidjeli smo nekoliko dokumentaraca na temu bezumnog sirijskog konflikta i stradavanja Alepa. Odlični "Posljednji u Alepu" bio je jedan od njih. No, "For Sama" je još bolji. Zapravo, najbolji. I to ne samo u kontekstu Sirije/Alepa, nego i općenito – ponajbolji dokumentarac u posljednje vrijeme, svakako najpotresnije i najintimnije svjedočanstvo iz neke ratne zone.

Nešto ovako potresno oči potpisnika ovih redaka nisu vidjele, a vidjele su sve i svašta. Opsada Alepa pod ravnanjem sirijskog režima predsjednika Bashara al-Assada i bombardiranjem aviona njegovih ruskih saveznika prikazana je kroz suzne oči autorice Waad Al-Kateab, koja se kamerom obraća svojoj netom rođenoj kćeri (2016.) i bilježi njezino odrastanje za vrijeme građanskog rata u rijetkoj formi videodnevnika kad je ovakav tip dokumentarca u pitanju.

Takav pristup čini "Za Samu" znatno osobnijim komadom dokumentaristike, u kojem bebica ne odrasta uz zvukove crtića na TV-u, već bombi od svakodnevnih zračnih napada "prokletog Assada", a bombe ne štede nikoga, pa ni bolnicu i Samina doktora. Dojam je kao da gledamo nečiji (autoričin) "found footage", a ne reportažu, premda Al-Kateab i Watts ne bježe posve od reportažne poetike.

"Found footage" snimke rezervirane su inače za kvazidokumentarističke novomilenijske filmove strave i užasa, ali nijedan od njih ne može se mjeriti sa stvarnim, životnim hororom dokumentarca "For Sama". Film daje strahovitu širu i užu sliku – pogled na patnje i stradavanje jednog naroda, odnosno roditeljstvo/majčinstvo u ratno doba/pod opsadom i izgubljena djetinjstva.

Majka strahuje da će izgubiti Samu znajući da bi i ona sama mogla biti jedno od stradale djece koja "nemaju ništa s tim" (ratom), ali svejedno umiru tijekom opsadnog stanja devastiranoga grada. Al-Khateab se majčinski pita hoće li je kćerkica, Sama, kad naraste više kriviti zato što nije napustila Alep ("najgori primjer za djecu") ili što je ostala u tom paklu.

Jedan klinac, osokoljen ostankom obitelji, izjavi "želim biti arhitekt kad narastem i ponovno izgraditi Aleppo". A i Al-Khateab u konačnici ne žali što je ostala i snimila film. "Da mogu premotati, napravila bih isto", veli premotavajući film i govoreći da je "ljudi koje je snimila neće nikad napusiti", kao i nas, publiku.

Intimni pristup brutalno humanog dokumentarca čini da se gledatelj osjeća kao da je i sam u epicentru ratnih zbivanja sa Sirijcima unutar 90-ak minuta trajanja "Same". Trajanje je ekonomično jer "u Alepu nema vremena za žalovanje", a Al-Kateab ne staje snimati da sveprisutnom, vječno upaljenom kamerom uhvati što više toga snimajući film za kćer, "za Samu", da dokumentira zbivanja koja će pogledati jednog dana, "da znaš zašto se borimo".

Uhvatila je pritom štošta, jednu tragediju do druge, plakanje, ranjavanje i pogibije djece, reakcije njihovih roditelja. "Zašto nam ovo rade", zapomaže majka mrtvog sina tjerajući suze na oči. Oči koje u slučaju Al-Kateab "plaču krv". "Čak i kad zatvorim oči, vidim crvenu boju. Krv je posvuda, na podovima, odjeći", govori Al-Kateab i prenosi crvenu boju u naše oko, dok nam se srce penje u grlo i steže.

Kadrovi ostavljaju friž na srcu, tipa da se jedan mališan rasplače na balkonu upitan o roditeljima i odlasku iz Alepa, jedno dijete briše suze neutješne majke ili dva brata-klinca donesu beživotno tijelo trećeg u bolnicu. Međutim, to je gotovo ništa prema hiperurgentnoj sceni koja se odvija u realnom vremenu kad ranjena žena u devetom mjesecu trudnoće stigne u bolnicu.

Liječnici izvlače bebu koja je naizgled nepokretna, mrtvorođenče, ali oni ne odustaju i pokušavaju je svim silama oživiti, u čemu i uspijevaju. Čedo dolazi do zraka i konačno čujemo i vidimo njegov plač u krupnom planu. "To je čudo", kliču liječnici. Ključna scena ovog (i bilo kojeg drugog) dokumentarca je vjerojatno najbrutalnija i najhumanija scena u dokumentarnom filmu svih vremena.

Pet godina snimanja, 500 sati materijala

Waad Al-Kateab je počela snimati film u dobi od 21 godinu. Snimala ga je idućih pet godina (2012. – 2017.) i nakupila 500 sati materijala. U konačnici je prevladao materijal iz 2016. i 2017., nakon rođenja njezine kćeri kojoj je dala ime Sama (Nebo, kao nebo bez ubojitih aviona, nebo s pticama itd). Sada živi u Velikoj Britaniji i radi kao novinarka za Channel 4.

Projekcija sjajnog i potresnog dokumentarca "Za Samu" obilježit će prvo izdanje Riječkog filmskog foruma, kojim napokon Rijeka ima svoj pravi festival filma. "For Sama" je trebao ostvariti hrvatsku premijeru na ZagrebDoxu, no korona je do daljnjega odgodila njegovo održavanje.

Ipak, međunarodni festival dokumentarnog filma ustupio je RiFF-u "Za Samu" i projekcija dokumentarca održava se u suradnji sa ZGDoxom. RiFF je tako dobio premijeru jednog od najzvučnijih dokumentarnih filmova posljednjih godina, dokumentarca s pedigreom.

Dovoljno je spomenuti kako je "Za Samu" imao premijeru u Cannesu i, još više, da se našao u ovogodišnjoj utrci za Oscara u kategoriji najboljeg dugometražnog dokumentarca, gdje je i bio najbolji sa sjevernomakedonskom "Medenom zemljom", ali mu je zlatni kipić izmakao na račun "American Factory".

Osvojio je, zato, Europskog Oscara i ušao u povijest kao prvi dokumentarac nominiran za čak četiri BAFTA-e. Treba reći da su sve nagrade apsolutno zaslužene za dokumentarni film sirijske aktivistice i novinarke Waad Al-Kateab i britanskog redatelja Edwarda Wattsa.

Vidjeli smo nekoliko dokumentaraca na temu bezumnog sirijskog konflikta i stradavanja Alepa. Odlični "Posljednji u Alepu" bio je jedan od njih. No, "For Sama" je još bolji. Zapravo, najbolji. I to ne samo u kontekstu Sirije/Alepa, nego i općenito – ponajbolji dokumentarac u posljednje vrijeme, svakako najpotresnije i najintimnije svjedočanstvo iz neke ratne zone.

Nešto ovako potresno oči potpisnika ovih redaka nisu vidjele, a vidjele su sve i svašta. Opsada Alepa pod ravnanjem sirijskog režima predsjednika Bashara al-Assada i bombardiranjem aviona njegovih ruskih saveznika prikazana je kroz suzne oči autorice Waad Al-Kateab, koja se kamerom obraća svojoj netom rođenoj kćeri (2016.) i bilježi njezino odrastanje za vrijeme građanskog rata u rijetkoj formi videodnevnika kad je ovakav tip dokumentarca u pitanju.

Takav pristup čini "Za Samu" znatno osobnijim komadom dokumentaristike, u kojem bebica ne odrasta uz zvukove crtića na TV-u, već bombi od svakodnevnih zračnih napada "prokletog Assada", a bombe ne štede nikoga, pa ni bolnicu i Samina doktora. Dojam je kao da gledamo nečiji (autoričin) "found footage", a ne reportažu, premda Al-Kateab i Watts ne bježe posve od reportažne poetike.

"Found footage" snimke rezervirane su inače za kvazidokumentarističke novomilenijske filmove strave i užasa, ali nijedan od njih ne može se mjeriti sa stvarnim, životnim hororom dokumentarca "For Sama". Film daje strahovitu širu i užu sliku – pogled na patnje i stradavanje jednog naroda, odnosno roditeljstvo/majčinstvo u ratno doba/pod opsadom i izgubljena djetinjstva.

Majka strahuje da će izgubiti Samu znajući da bi i ona sama mogla biti jedno od stradale djece koja "nemaju ništa s tim" (ratom), ali svejedno umiru tijekom opsadnog stanja devastiranoga grada. Al-Khateab se majčinski pita hoće li je kćerkica, Sama, kad naraste više kriviti zato što nije napustila Alep ("najgori primjer za djecu") ili što je ostala u tom paklu.

Jedan klinac, osokoljen ostankom obitelji, izjavi "želim biti arhitekt kad narastem i ponovno izgraditi Aleppo". A i Al-Khateab u konačnici ne žali što je ostala i snimila film. "Da mogu premotati, napravila bih isto", veli premotavajući film i govoreći da je "ljudi koje je snimila neće nikad napusiti", kao i nas, publiku.

Intimni pristup brutalno humanog dokumentarca čini da se gledatelj osjeća kao da je i sam u epicentru ratnih zbivanja sa Sirijcima unutar 90-ak minuta trajanja "Same". Trajanje je ekonomično jer "u Alepu nema vremena za žalovanje", a Al-Kateab ne staje snimati da sveprisutnom, vječno upaljenom kamerom uhvati što više toga snimajući film za kćer, "za Samu", da dokumentira zbivanja koja će pogledati jednog dana, "da znaš zašto se borimo".

Uhvatila je pritom štošta, jednu tragediju do druge, plakanje, ranjavanje i pogibije djece, reakcije njihovih roditelja. "Zašto nam ovo rade", zapomaže majka mrtvog sina tjerajući suze na oči. Oči koje u slučaju Al-Kateab "plaču krv". "Čak i kad zatvorim oči, vidim crvenu boju. Krv je posvuda, na podovima, odjeći", govori Al-Kateab i prenosi crvenu boju u naše oko, dok nam se srce penje u grlo i steže.

Kadrovi ostavljaju friž na srcu, tipa da se jedan mališan rasplače na balkonu upitan o roditeljima i odlasku iz Alepa, jedno dijete briše suze neutješne majke ili dva brata-klinca donesu beživotno tijelo trećeg u bolnicu. Međutim, to je gotovo ništa prema hiperurgentnoj sceni koja se odvija u realnom vremenu kad ranjena žena u devetom mjesecu trudnoće stigne u bolnicu.

Liječnici izvlače bebu koja je naizgled nepokretna, mrtvorođenče, ali oni ne odustaju i pokušavaju je svim silama oživiti, u čemu i uspijevaju. Čedo dolazi do zraka i konačno čujemo i vidimo njegov plač u krupnom planu. "To je čudo", kliču liječnici. Ključna scena ovog (i bilo kojeg drugog) dokumentarca je vjerojatno najbrutalnija i najhumanija scena u dokumentarnom filmu svih vremena.

Pet godina snimanja, 500 sati materijala

Waad Al-Kateab je počela snimati film u dobi od 21 godinu. Snimala ga je idućih pet godina (2012. – 2017.) i nakupila 500 sati materijala. U konačnici je prevladao materijal iz 2016. i 2017., nakon rođenja njezine kćeri kojoj je dala ime Sama (Nebo, kao nebo bez ubojitih aviona, nebo s pticama itd). Sada živi u Velikoj Britaniji i radi kao novinarka za Channel 4.
