Paralelno s petim Mediteranskim festivalom knjige u kina je stigla ekranizacija bestselera Ann Leary “Dobra kuća” (“The Good House”). Leary možda nije još toliko poznata spisateljica u Hrvatskoj, tj. domaćoj publici je vjerojatno poznatija kao “celebrity wife”, supruga glumca-komičara Denisa Learyja .
Ipak, u Americi i svijetu ono što Ann napiše nerijetko postane hit, a i pronalazi put do ekrana. Primjerice, njezin esej za “New York Times” naslovljen “Rallying To Keep The Game Alive” poslužio je kao predložak za jednu epizodu Amazonove serije “Modern Love ”. Konačno, tu je bestselerska “Dobra kuća” iz 2013., pretvorena u film koji je nakon festivalske turneje, od Toronta i Tribecce nadalje, krenuo u kinodistribuciju.

Prvotno su u “The Good House” trebali igrati oskarovci Meryl Streep i Robert De Niro (“Lovac na jelene”, “Zaljubljivanje”), da bi na koncu glavne uloge odigrali Sigourney Weaver i Kevin Kline .
Weaver i Kline također imaju zajedničku glumačku prošlost (“Dave: Predsjednik za jedan dan”, “Ledena oluja”) kao Streep i De Niro, a “Dobra kuća” im je potrebnija nego njima.
Dok Streep i De Niro još uvijek redovito nose filmove, Weaver i Kline posljednjih desetak godina dobivaju mahom sporednije uloge i daleko su od najvećih dana slave kad su snimali “Aliene ”, “Godinu opasnog življenja ”, “Istjerivače duhova”, “Zaposlenu djevojku”... (ona), tj. “Veliku jezu ”, “Silverado ”, “Ribu zvanu Wanda” i “Divlji zapad ”... (on).
Lijepo ih je opet vidjeti zajedno i lijepo je vidjeti da se glumci u sedamdesetim godinama života nalaze na plakatima filmova i dobivaju priliku utjeloviti slojevite likove, počevši od Weaveričine brokerice Hildy Good. Zanimljivo, plakat “The Good House” navodi na krivi trag, kao i foršpan filma u režiji bračnog para Maya Forbes – Wallace Wolodarsky .
Poster sugerira suncem okupanu romantičnu dramu (čak i rom-com) za starije gledatelje prema romanu često ekraniziranog Nicholasa Sparksa , nekakvu novu “Olujnu ljubav u Rodantheu ”. “Dobra kuća” to dijelom i jest, ali je i nešto mračnija karakterna studija Hildy u odličnoj izvedbi Weaver, što se tek djelomično može nazrijeti ispod površine zaigranog “trailera”.

No, to ima smisla budući da Hildy sebe “prema van” prezentira u savršenom svjetlu, skrivajući unutarnji nemir koji bubri ispod njezine strogo kontrolirane vanjštine. Hildy je najuspješnija brokerica fiktivnoga gradića Wendovera u sjeveroistočnom dijelu Amerike, neovisno o tome što gubi potencijalne kupce nekretnina koji odlaze njezinoj konkurentici.
Muž Scott (David Rasche , legendarni Sledge Hammer) ostavio ju je zbog drugog muškarca, ali iako će se zapitati “Zašto si morao biti tako prokleto gay?”, Hildy ne pati za njime, posebice kad joj se putovi opet isprepletu s prvom ljubavi Frankom Getchellom (Kline).
U Hildy uzor vidi nova stanovnica Wendovera, mlada i bogata Rebecca McAllister (Morena Baccarin ; "Deadpool "), no brokerica je daleko od ideala, kao što ni u životu mlađe žene nije sve med i mlijeko jer sve je stvar predstavljanja u gradiću gdje svako svakoga zna i “teško je sačuvati tajne”.
Naime, Hildy je bila na liječenju od alkoholizma i čini se da se nije izliječila. Ona redovito popije čašu-dvije-tri Merlota, pravdajući se time da ne pije prije pet popodne kao alkoholičari, niti pije sama (društvo joj prave njezini psi), a i smatra da se “vino zapravo ne računa kao piće” za razliku od votke ili martinija za kojima će također posegnuti.

Isprve je Hildyno posezanje za pićem iskorišteno u humorne svrhe, inspirirano osobnim iskustvima autorice Leary koja je jednom izjavila “Bila sam zabavnija i pametnija kad sam pila, bilo je to nešto što sam dobro radila, dalo mi je samopouzdanje da mogu ući u sobu”, premda se ubrzo počinjemo iskreno brinuti za nju i njezino ponašanje.
Osjećaj nečeg osobnog film prenosi tako što Hildy razbija tzv. četvrti zid i obraća se kameri i gledateljima kao da je svojevrsna Fleabag u zlatnim godinama, pokušavajući predstaviti sebe u boljem svjetlu nauštrb drugih, a u biti se potiho ispovjedajući publici.
Redateljski duo Forbes-Wolodarsky ima prilično dobar osjećaj za karakterizaciju glavnog ženskog lika i ambijentiranje priče/gledatelja u zajednicu fiktivnoga gradića, ali treći čin njihova filma je prilično (melo)dramski naprasan i nije u tonalnom skladu s prva dva.
Srećom, Weaver i Kline su skladni u svojim ulogama. Glumce je gušt gledati dok isijavaju uzajamnim poštovanjem i spretno balansiraju između drame i komedije, uživajući što mogu ponovno glumiti zajedno i kreirati odnos dvoje starijih ljudi kakav se ne viđa često.

Paralelno s petim Mediteranskim festivalom knjige u kina je stigla ekranizacija bestselera Ann Leary “Dobra kuća” (“The Good House”). Leary možda nije još toliko poznata spisateljica u Hrvatskoj, tj. domaćoj publici je vjerojatno poznatija kao “celebrity wife”, supruga glumca-komičara Denisa Learyja .
Ipak, u Americi i svijetu ono što Ann napiše nerijetko postane hit, a i pronalazi put do ekrana. Primjerice, njezin esej za “New York Times” naslovljen “Rallying To Keep The Game Alive” poslužio je kao predložak za jednu epizodu Amazonove serije “Modern Love ”. Konačno, tu je bestselerska “Dobra kuća” iz 2013., pretvorena u film koji je nakon festivalske turneje, od Toronta i Tribecce nadalje, krenuo u kinodistribuciju.

Prvotno su u “The Good House” trebali igrati oskarovci Meryl Streep i Robert De Niro (“Lovac na jelene”, “Zaljubljivanje”), da bi na koncu glavne uloge odigrali Sigourney Weaver i Kevin Kline .
Weaver i Kline također imaju zajedničku glumačku prošlost (“Dave: Predsjednik za jedan dan”, “Ledena oluja”) kao Streep i De Niro, a “Dobra kuća” im je potrebnija nego njima.
Dok Streep i De Niro još uvijek redovito nose filmove, Weaver i Kline posljednjih desetak godina dobivaju mahom sporednije uloge i daleko su od najvećih dana slave kad su snimali “Aliene ”, “Godinu opasnog življenja ”, “Istjerivače duhova”, “Zaposlenu djevojku”... (ona), tj. “Veliku jezu ”, “Silverado ”, “Ribu zvanu Wanda” i “Divlji zapad ”... (on).
Lijepo ih je opet vidjeti zajedno i lijepo je vidjeti da se glumci u sedamdesetim godinama života nalaze na plakatima filmova i dobivaju priliku utjeloviti slojevite likove, počevši od Weaveričine brokerice Hildy Good. Zanimljivo, plakat “The Good House” navodi na krivi trag, kao i foršpan filma u režiji bračnog para Maya Forbes – Wallace Wolodarsky .
Poster sugerira suncem okupanu romantičnu dramu (čak i rom-com) za starije gledatelje prema romanu često ekraniziranog Nicholasa Sparksa , nekakvu novu “Olujnu ljubav u Rodantheu ”. “Dobra kuća” to dijelom i jest, ali je i nešto mračnija karakterna studija Hildy u odličnoj izvedbi Weaver, što se tek djelomično može nazrijeti ispod površine zaigranog “trailera”.

No, to ima smisla budući da Hildy sebe “prema van” prezentira u savršenom svjetlu, skrivajući unutarnji nemir koji bubri ispod njezine strogo kontrolirane vanjštine. Hildy je najuspješnija brokerica fiktivnoga gradića Wendovera u sjeveroistočnom dijelu Amerike, neovisno o tome što gubi potencijalne kupce nekretnina koji odlaze njezinoj konkurentici.
Muž Scott (David Rasche , legendarni Sledge Hammer) ostavio ju je zbog drugog muškarca, ali iako će se zapitati “Zašto si morao biti tako prokleto gay?”, Hildy ne pati za njime, posebice kad joj se putovi opet isprepletu s prvom ljubavi Frankom Getchellom (Kline).
U Hildy uzor vidi nova stanovnica Wendovera, mlada i bogata Rebecca McAllister (Morena Baccarin ; "Deadpool "), no brokerica je daleko od ideala, kao što ni u životu mlađe žene nije sve med i mlijeko jer sve je stvar predstavljanja u gradiću gdje svako svakoga zna i “teško je sačuvati tajne”.
Naime, Hildy je bila na liječenju od alkoholizma i čini se da se nije izliječila. Ona redovito popije čašu-dvije-tri Merlota, pravdajući se time da ne pije prije pet popodne kao alkoholičari, niti pije sama (društvo joj prave njezini psi), a i smatra da se “vino zapravo ne računa kao piće” za razliku od votke ili martinija za kojima će također posegnuti.

Isprve je Hildyno posezanje za pićem iskorišteno u humorne svrhe, inspirirano osobnim iskustvima autorice Leary koja je jednom izjavila “Bila sam zabavnija i pametnija kad sam pila, bilo je to nešto što sam dobro radila, dalo mi je samopouzdanje da mogu ući u sobu”, premda se ubrzo počinjemo iskreno brinuti za nju i njezino ponašanje.
Osjećaj nečeg osobnog film prenosi tako što Hildy razbija tzv. četvrti zid i obraća se kameri i gledateljima kao da je svojevrsna Fleabag u zlatnim godinama, pokušavajući predstaviti sebe u boljem svjetlu nauštrb drugih, a u biti se potiho ispovjedajući publici.
Redateljski duo Forbes-Wolodarsky ima prilično dobar osjećaj za karakterizaciju glavnog ženskog lika i ambijentiranje priče/gledatelja u zajednicu fiktivnoga gradića, ali treći čin njihova filma je prilično (melo)dramski naprasan i nije u tonalnom skladu s prva dva.
Srećom, Weaver i Kline su skladni u svojim ulogama. Glumce je gušt gledati dok isijavaju uzajamnim poštovanjem i spretno balansiraju između drame i komedije, uživajući što mogu ponovno glumiti zajedno i kreirati odnos dvoje starijih ljudi kakav se ne viđa često.
