"Pisac uvijek radi." – "Neodabrani putevi" (2020.)

Bitno mi je raditi filmove s porukom. Ne smetaju mi filmovi za zabavu. Jedna od primarnih uloga filmova su užitak i zabava, "entertainment". No, većina takvih filmova meni su dosadni. Znate, izvanzemaljci dođu na zemlju i... Nemam više 20 godina. Nakon 20 minuta eksplozija i akcije, nemam više živaca. Želim ostaviti nešto baštine iza sebe i uperiti prstom na neke važne probleme i teme.

Tako je govorio veliki španjolski glumac Javier Bardem u intervjuu za "Slobodnu" 2010. godine. Bardemove riječi pale su na pamet tijekom gledanja drame "Neodabrani putovi". Novi Bardemov film, njegov prvi nakon "Svi znaju sve" Ashgara Farhadija iz 2018., imao je premijeru na prošlogodišnjem Berlinaleu, a pojavio se na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu s prikladnim tajmingom, baš u tjednu kad je glumac slavio 52. rođendan.

Bilo bi lijepo Bardemu poželjeti sretan rođendan boljim filmom, ali "The Roads Not Taken" je ispao razočaranje s obzirom na ekipu ispred i iza kamere. Uz Bardema glume talentirana Elle Fanning, zvjezdana Salma Hayek, uvijek izvrsna Laura Linney i, nakratko, Branka Katić, a scenarij i režiju potpisuje kultna britanska art filmašica Sally Potter ("Orlando", "The Party").

Priča utemeljena na osobnim iskustvima redateljice (brat) imala je sve predispozicije za snažnu dramu festivalsko-umjetničkog tipa, no snaga je nažalost izostala. U kratkim crtama, pratimo jedan dan u životu Lea (Bardem), pisca načeta ranom demencijom s kojim vrijeme provodi njegova kćerka Molly (Fanning), vodeći ga u zubara i okuliste diljem New Yorka tijekom pauze za ručak.

I Bardem i Fanning su kadri načiniti zanimljivom potencijalnu dramu u realnom vremenu i prostoru, sirovo glumljenu i režiranu bez oskarovske kozmetike. Međutim, Potter kao da misli da nisu i (pre)opterećuje film flešbekovima razasute kronologije. Naravno, flešbekovi imaju unutarnjeg smisla s obzirom na razasute misli protagonista koji je zamišljen i "stalno gleda u nešto", djelujući zbunjeno i sve odsutnije, "kao da nije ovdje".

"Je li ovdje", postavlja se pitanje za čovjeka kojemu se liječnici obraćaju u trećem licu, koliko god to Molly ne željela čuti, odbijajući pomisao da joj otac polako klizi iz sebe. Flešbek na "prvu ljubav iz djetinjstva" (Hayek) apsolutno je smislen. "Dolores", prozbori Leo njezino ime kao Wellesov građanin Kane riječ "pupoljak".

Molly ni ne zna tko je Dolores, no zato zna Leova bivša supruga i njezina mama Rita (Linney). U Leovu prvu ljubav lako je povjerovati, jer nema tko je nije doživio, ali Bardemove meksičke scene s Hayekicom lišene su opipljivih osjećaja da je ta ljubav nekoć postojala, premda ih gledamo u razdoblju kad je (u)venula i slušamo nadahnuto napisane rečenice o "slavi boli koja je postala cirkus".

Teško je oteti se dojmu kako bi ovaj segment "Neodbranih puteva" znatno bolje funkcionirao da je Dolores, umjesto angažirane Hayekice, glumila Bardemova supruga, superiornija glumica Penelope Cruz, s kojom je imao relativno sličan odnos u Farhadijevu filmu.

Treći segment "The Roads Not Taken" odvija se, pak, negdje na grčkoj obali, gdje Leo upada u razgovor s prelijepom mladom djevojkom (Milena Tscharntke) koja ga "podsjeća na nekoga koga je znao" i otkriva kako se zbog pisanja otuđio od supruge i kćeri, žrtvujući njihov odnos za karijeru pisca. Ovaj dio filma može i ne mora biti stvaran (sjećanje), već imaginaran, plod krize srednjih godina, kajanja i demencije, napisan u njegovoj glavi. Jer, "pisac uvijek radi ovdje", kaže Leo upirući prstom na glavu.

Kad je već inzistirala na flešbekovima, bilo bi uputnije da je Potter jedan rezervirala za otac-kćer odnos Lea i Molly prije ovog današnjeg da bolje shvatimo njegov lik umjesto da je nasilu ubacila politički komentar u sceni kad neka američka gospođa povikne Meksikancu Leu da se gubi iz njezine zemlje nakon što joj uzme psa misleći da je njegov.

Premda, rekosmo, Bardem je mogao predočiti sva unutarnja stanja lika koji "želi reći puno stvari sada, ondje" i bez doslovnih flešbekova s kakvima ga Potterica izmješta kroz prostor i vrijeme.

"Koliko kod daleko otišao, štogod rekli, ti si uvijek ti", uvjerava kći Lea, ali film ostavlja gledatelja na distanciji od glavnog lika, namjesto da mu je blizak kao što je to bila dementna protagonistica (Julie Christie) superiornije drame "Daleko od nje" u režiji Sarah Polley. Sjetimo se filma "Život je more" koji je mogao biti dobar parnjak "Neodabranim putevima" s Bardemom u ulozi čovjeka prikovana tijela, ne i uma. Potter nije odabrala taj put.

Bardem se vraća u ‘Dini‘

Javiera Bardema bi do kraja godine trebali gledati u jednoj od većih uloga "all-star" glumačke ekipe SF blockustera "Dina" Denisa Villeneuvea.

"Pisac uvijek radi." – "Neodabrani putevi" (2020.)

Bitno mi je raditi filmove s porukom. Ne smetaju mi filmovi za zabavu. Jedna od primarnih uloga filmova su užitak i zabava, "entertainment". No, većina takvih filmova meni su dosadni. Znate, izvanzemaljci dođu na zemlju i... Nemam više 20 godina. Nakon 20 minuta eksplozija i akcije, nemam više živaca. Želim ostaviti nešto baštine iza sebe i uperiti prstom na neke važne probleme i teme.

Tako je govorio veliki španjolski glumac Javier Bardem u intervjuu za "Slobodnu" 2010. godine. Bardemove riječi pale su na pamet tijekom gledanja drame "Neodabrani putovi". Novi Bardemov film, njegov prvi nakon "Svi znaju sve" Ashgara Farhadija iz 2018., imao je premijeru na prošlogodišnjem Berlinaleu, a pojavio se na hrvatskom "online" videotržištu s prikladnim tajmingom, baš u tjednu kad je glumac slavio 52. rođendan.

Bilo bi lijepo Bardemu poželjeti sretan rođendan boljim filmom, ali "The Roads Not Taken" je ispao razočaranje s obzirom na ekipu ispred i iza kamere. Uz Bardema glume talentirana Elle Fanning, zvjezdana Salma Hayek, uvijek izvrsna Laura Linney i, nakratko, Branka Katić, a scenarij i režiju potpisuje kultna britanska art filmašica Sally Potter ("Orlando", "The Party").

Priča utemeljena na osobnim iskustvima redateljice (brat) imala je sve predispozicije za snažnu dramu festivalsko-umjetničkog tipa, no snaga je nažalost izostala. U kratkim crtama, pratimo jedan dan u životu Lea (Bardem), pisca načeta ranom demencijom s kojim vrijeme provodi njegova kćerka Molly (Fanning), vodeći ga u zubara i okuliste diljem New Yorka tijekom pauze za ručak.

I Bardem i Fanning su kadri načiniti zanimljivom potencijalnu dramu u realnom vremenu i prostoru, sirovo glumljenu i režiranu bez oskarovske kozmetike. Međutim, Potter kao da misli da nisu i (pre)opterećuje film flešbekovima razasute kronologije. Naravno, flešbekovi imaju unutarnjeg smisla s obzirom na razasute misli protagonista koji je zamišljen i "stalno gleda u nešto", djelujući zbunjeno i sve odsutnije, "kao da nije ovdje".

"Je li ovdje", postavlja se pitanje za čovjeka kojemu se liječnici obraćaju u trećem licu, koliko god to Molly ne željela čuti, odbijajući pomisao da joj otac polako klizi iz sebe. Flešbek na "prvu ljubav iz djetinjstva" (Hayek) apsolutno je smislen. "Dolores", prozbori Leo njezino ime kao Wellesov građanin Kane riječ "pupoljak".

Molly ni ne zna tko je Dolores, no zato zna Leova bivša supruga i njezina mama Rita (Linney). U Leovu prvu ljubav lako je povjerovati, jer nema tko je nije doživio, ali Bardemove meksičke scene s Hayekicom lišene su opipljivih osjećaja da je ta ljubav nekoć postojala, premda ih gledamo u razdoblju kad je (u)venula i slušamo nadahnuto napisane rečenice o "slavi boli koja je postala cirkus".

Teško je oteti se dojmu kako bi ovaj segment "Neodbranih puteva" znatno bolje funkcionirao da je Dolores, umjesto angažirane Hayekice, glumila Bardemova supruga, superiornija glumica Penelope Cruz, s kojom je imao relativno sličan odnos u Farhadijevu filmu.

Treći segment "The Roads Not Taken" odvija se, pak, negdje na grčkoj obali, gdje Leo upada u razgovor s prelijepom mladom djevojkom (Milena Tscharntke) koja ga "podsjeća na nekoga koga je znao" i otkriva kako se zbog pisanja otuđio od supruge i kćeri, žrtvujući njihov odnos za karijeru pisca. Ovaj dio filma može i ne mora biti stvaran (sjećanje), već imaginaran, plod krize srednjih godina, kajanja i demencije, napisan u njegovoj glavi. Jer, "pisac uvijek radi ovdje", kaže Leo upirući prstom na glavu.

Kad je već inzistirala na flešbekovima, bilo bi uputnije da je Potter jedan rezervirala za otac-kćer odnos Lea i Molly prije ovog današnjeg da bolje shvatimo njegov lik umjesto da je nasilu ubacila politički komentar u sceni kad neka američka gospođa povikne Meksikancu Leu da se gubi iz njezine zemlje nakon što joj uzme psa misleći da je njegov.

Premda, rekosmo, Bardem je mogao predočiti sva unutarnja stanja lika koji "želi reći puno stvari sada, ondje" i bez doslovnih flešbekova s kakvima ga Potterica izmješta kroz prostor i vrijeme.

"Koliko kod daleko otišao, štogod rekli, ti si uvijek ti", uvjerava kći Lea, ali film ostavlja gledatelja na distanciji od glavnog lika, namjesto da mu je blizak kao što je to bila dementna protagonistica (Julie Christie) superiornije drame "Daleko od nje" u režiji Sarah Polley. Sjetimo se filma "Život je more" koji je mogao biti dobar parnjak "Neodabranim putevima" s Bardemom u ulozi čovjeka prikovana tijela, ne i uma. Potter nije odabrala taj put.

Bardem se vraća u ‘Dini‘

Javiera Bardema bi do kraja godine trebali gledati u jednoj od većih uloga "all-star" glumačke ekipe SF blockustera "Dina" Denisa Villeneuvea.
