Komesar Jules Maigret iz pariškog Kriminalističkog odjela nekako uvijek boravi u sjeni belgijskog detektivskog kolege Herculea Poirota. Zaustavite li nekoga sada na ulici i spomenete Maigreta, mala je šansa da će znati o kome se radi, za razliku od Poirota. Detektiv iz pera Agathe Christie znatno je popularniji od kreacije Georgesa Simenona iz dugovječna serijala od 75 romana, iako je Maigret doživio podjednak (ako ne i veći) broj inkarnacija na velikom ili malom ekranu kao Poirot.

U francuskim produkcijama Maigreta su, primjerice, utjelovili Pierre Renoir, Abel Tarride, Harry Baur, Albert Préjean i Jean Gabin, a u britanskim Charles Laughton, Rupert Davies, Michael Gambon i Richard Harris, čak i Rowan Atkinson.

U najnovijem francuskom filmu u ulozi Simenonova detektiva (s)našla se još jedna poznata faca, legendarni Gerard Depardieu, ali “Maigret” je svejedno ostao u drugom planu recentnih Poirotovih avantura “Ubojstvo u Orient Expressu” i “Smrt na Nilu”, snimljenih u američkoj produkciji. Pa opet, to ne treba čuditi.

Visokobudžetni “Murder On The Orient Express” i “Death On The Nile” Kennethya Branagha izgledaju kao fotografski, scenografski i kostimografski raskošne blockbusterske slikovnice ukrašene raskošnom hollywoodskim zvijezdama u glavnim i sporednim ulogama.

”Maigret” je vizualno znatno svedeniji i redatelj Patrice Leconte njeguje anti-blockbusterski i anti-slikovničarski pristup u odnosu na Branagha. U filmu je Depardieu jedina zvijezda. Njemu ne sekundiraju francuske zvijezde tipa Lea Seydoux i Marion Cotillard. Sve ovo ide u prilog “Maigretu” u kojem titularni detektiv ne postaje sporedni lik u vlastitom filmu kao što je zamalo postao Poirot u recentnim inkarnacijama.

Iako više glumi na iskustvo, Depardieu uspijeva proniknuti u misli i dušu lika i pogođen je izbor za ulogu u ne posebno pamtljivom, ali zadovoljavajućem filmu snimljenom prema Simenonovu 46. romanu “Maigret i mrtva djevojka”. Simenon je Maigreta opisao kao “krupnog, snažno građenoga gospodina s lulom, polucilindrom i debelim kaputom, a Depardieu odgovara opisu, s time da je i korpulentniji.

Ipak, njegova korpulentnost je riješena tako što Maigreta upoznajemo na pregledu kod liječnika koji mu govori da je izvan kondicije i da bi se trebao odreći pušenja (lule), stoga on samo jednom u filmu povuče dim i to kako bi pokazao drugome kako se puši. Isprve se čini da bi “Maigret” mogao biti kostimografski “haute couture” kao “Smrt na Nilu”.

Mlada djevojka (Clara Antoons) dolazi po svečanu haljinu kod krojačice. ”Trebat će ti modni dodaci”, kaže joj krojačica. U idućoj sceni, djevojka dolazi na neku zaručničku zabavu aristokracije izgledajući kao Pepeljuga, ali ondje, očito, nije dobrodošla i nekoliko trenutaka kasnije pronađena je mrtva s više ubodnih rana, a na njezinom beživotnom tijelu “nema otisaka ni tragova”.

Slučaj, dakako, preuzima Maigret i, kad se to dogodi, tračak raskoši nestaje, a u interijerima i eksterijerima prevladava sumorna, malodušna atmosfera bez "modnih dodataka". Ima to smisla. Vrijeme radnje su rane pedesete, razdoblje kad Pariz još tuguje i vida rane od Drugog svjetskog rata. I Maigret tuguje zbog neprežaljene smrti kćerke. Zato je slučaj ubijene djevojke za njega osoban: u njoj vidio svoju kćerku, a vidi je i u drugoj mladoj djevojci Betty (Jade Labeste), veoma nalik stradaloj.

Istovremeno s istragom umorstva koja ga vodi do ljudi viđenih na zabavi, glumice Jeanine (Mélanie Bernier), nezrelog Laurenta (Pierre Moure) i njegove aristokratske majke (Aurore Clement), Maigret otkriva i prošlost ubijene djevojke koju opisuju kao “izgubljenu dušu”, a što više doznaje o njoj, više bi mogao doznati i o zločinu.

Ništa u “Maigretu” nije posebno “novo”, ali film na to ionako ne tipuje, već na ono staro, tj. klasični “whodunit”/”murder mystery” triler s motivima (za ubojstvo?) ljubomore i društvenog statusa. Manjak akcije i tenzije Leconte nadoknađuje igrom detekcije i njome povezanom karakterizacijom Maigreta koji više sluša (svjedoke, potencijalne osumnjičenike) nego što govori. Detekcija se odvija u glavi detektiva i gotovo da čujemo njegove misli u kojima on kao da živi, s njime i Depardieu.

Clara Antoons je vrlo nadahnuta u maloj ulozi i podsjeća na Miu Kirshner u De Palminoj "Crnoj daliji".

Komesar Jules Maigret iz pariškog Kriminalističkog odjela nekako uvijek boravi u sjeni belgijskog detektivskog kolege Herculea Poirota. Zaustavite li nekoga sada na ulici i spomenete Maigreta, mala je šansa da će znati o kome se radi, za razliku od Poirota. Detektiv iz pera Agathe Christie znatno je popularniji od kreacije Georgesa Simenona iz dugovječna serijala od 75 romana, iako je Maigret doživio podjednak (ako ne i veći) broj inkarnacija na velikom ili malom ekranu kao Poirot.

U francuskim produkcijama Maigreta su, primjerice, utjelovili Pierre Renoir, Abel Tarride, Harry Baur, Albert Préjean i Jean Gabin, a u britanskim Charles Laughton, Rupert Davies, Michael Gambon i Richard Harris, čak i Rowan Atkinson.

U najnovijem francuskom filmu u ulozi Simenonova detektiva (s)našla se još jedna poznata faca, legendarni Gerard Depardieu, ali “Maigret” je svejedno ostao u drugom planu recentnih Poirotovih avantura “Ubojstvo u Orient Expressu” i “Smrt na Nilu”, snimljenih u američkoj produkciji. Pa opet, to ne treba čuditi.

Visokobudžetni “Murder On The Orient Express” i “Death On The Nile” Kennethya Branagha izgledaju kao fotografski, scenografski i kostimografski raskošne blockbusterske slikovnice ukrašene raskošnom hollywoodskim zvijezdama u glavnim i sporednim ulogama.

”Maigret” je vizualno znatno svedeniji i redatelj Patrice Leconte njeguje anti-blockbusterski i anti-slikovničarski pristup u odnosu na Branagha. U filmu je Depardieu jedina zvijezda. Njemu ne sekundiraju francuske zvijezde tipa Lea Seydoux i Marion Cotillard. Sve ovo ide u prilog “Maigretu” u kojem titularni detektiv ne postaje sporedni lik u vlastitom filmu kao što je zamalo postao Poirot u recentnim inkarnacijama.

Iako više glumi na iskustvo, Depardieu uspijeva proniknuti u misli i dušu lika i pogođen je izbor za ulogu u ne posebno pamtljivom, ali zadovoljavajućem filmu snimljenom prema Simenonovu 46. romanu “Maigret i mrtva djevojka”. Simenon je Maigreta opisao kao “krupnog, snažno građenoga gospodina s lulom, polucilindrom i debelim kaputom, a Depardieu odgovara opisu, s time da je i korpulentniji.

Ipak, njegova korpulentnost je riješena tako što Maigreta upoznajemo na pregledu kod liječnika koji mu govori da je izvan kondicije i da bi se trebao odreći pušenja (lule), stoga on samo jednom u filmu povuče dim i to kako bi pokazao drugome kako se puši. Isprve se čini da bi “Maigret” mogao biti kostimografski “haute couture” kao “Smrt na Nilu”.

Mlada djevojka (Clara Antoons) dolazi po svečanu haljinu kod krojačice. ”Trebat će ti modni dodaci”, kaže joj krojačica. U idućoj sceni, djevojka dolazi na neku zaručničku zabavu aristokracije izgledajući kao Pepeljuga, ali ondje, očito, nije dobrodošla i nekoliko trenutaka kasnije pronađena je mrtva s više ubodnih rana, a na njezinom beživotnom tijelu “nema otisaka ni tragova”.

Slučaj, dakako, preuzima Maigret i, kad se to dogodi, tračak raskoši nestaje, a u interijerima i eksterijerima prevladava sumorna, malodušna atmosfera bez "modnih dodataka". Ima to smisla. Vrijeme radnje su rane pedesete, razdoblje kad Pariz još tuguje i vida rane od Drugog svjetskog rata. I Maigret tuguje zbog neprežaljene smrti kćerke. Zato je slučaj ubijene djevojke za njega osoban: u njoj vidio svoju kćerku, a vidi je i u drugoj mladoj djevojci Betty (Jade Labeste), veoma nalik stradaloj.

Istovremeno s istragom umorstva koja ga vodi do ljudi viđenih na zabavi, glumice Jeanine (Mélanie Bernier), nezrelog Laurenta (Pierre Moure) i njegove aristokratske majke (Aurore Clement), Maigret otkriva i prošlost ubijene djevojke koju opisuju kao “izgubljenu dušu”, a što više doznaje o njoj, više bi mogao doznati i o zločinu.

Ništa u “Maigretu” nije posebno “novo”, ali film na to ionako ne tipuje, već na ono staro, tj. klasični “whodunit”/”murder mystery” triler s motivima (za ubojstvo?) ljubomore i društvenog statusa. Manjak akcije i tenzije Leconte nadoknađuje igrom detekcije i njome povezanom karakterizacijom Maigreta koji više sluša (svjedoke, potencijalne osumnjičenike) nego što govori. Detekcija se odvija u glavi detektiva i gotovo da čujemo njegove misli u kojima on kao da živi, s njime i Depardieu.

Clara Antoons je vrlo nadahnuta u maloj ulozi i podsjeća na Miu Kirshner u De Palminoj "Crnoj daliji".
