"Božićne pjesme, tko ih želi pjevati", pita majka obitelji (Kyana Teresa) kad sa suprugom i djecom krene automobilom na blagdanski izlet u planine u jednoj sceni "Igračaka užasa". Da, Božić polako kuca na naša vrata s božićnim pjesmama i filmovima u slučaju da to niste zamijetili zbog briga oko korone. Zapravo, već je pokucao.

Božić je uranio ove godine u "online" videotekama. Svjetsko i hrvatsko "online" videotržište u ponudi ima premijeru prigodnog predblagdanskog filma "Toys Of Terror". Već se po naslovu "Igračke užasa" vidi kako nije posrijedi komedija s prefiksom "obiteljski" ili "fantastični", nego – horor.

Žanr strave i užasa u božićnom okrilju? Ništa novo ni sablažnjivo. Horori već godinama slave "crni Božić", a nerijetko su i "obiteljski" intonirani, od prvih "Gremlina" do "Krampusa".

Redatelj Nicholas Verso i scenarist Dana Gould sigurno su imali na umu "Gremlins" Joea Dantea i "Krampus" Michaela Doughertyja stvarajući "Toys Of Terror".

Imali su i mnoge druge "čišće" horore osamdesetih, kao "Dolls" Stuarta Gordona i "Child's Play" Toma Hollanda, pa čak i obiteljsko-dječje filmove devedesetih poput opet Danteovih "Small Soldiers", a i one komično-stravične tipa "Arachnophobia" Franka Marshalla (pauk u kokicama).

Dante bi od "Igračaka užasa" vjerojatno stvorio novi božićni kultni klasik, anti-s"Toy Story", ali Verso i Gould nisu ni približno njegova kapaciteta i od već viđene, no još uvijek potentne premise izvlače premalo da bismo film upamtili do ovog Božića, kamoli idućeg. Premisa je klasika.

Obitelj iznajmljuje prekrasnu trokatnicu u snijegom zametenim planinama, inače bivši dom za djecu, prazan već godinama nakon tragedije koja ga je zadesila. Dom nam je prikazan u prologu, odnosno netko je na pragu ustanove ostavio igračke. Kuća je trošna, nimalo po guštu najstarije kćerke tinejdžerice Alicije (Verity Marks) koja se boji da će umijeti od dosade i ne sviđa joj se očeva (Dayo Ade) sarkastična opaska "Preživjet ćeš Božić u planinama".

Jasno, ulaskom u kuću slijedi upozorenje da "treći kat nije siguran". Još jasnije, kuća će ubrzo biti i strašna kad najmlađi klinci, brat i sestra (Saul Elias, Zoe Fish) također u strahu od dosade, pronađu "one" igračke s kojima postaju nerazdvojni i koje će ih "opsjesti" u manifestacijama tipologije nadnaravnog horora.

Starija sestra osjeća da nešto nije u redu, kao i dadilja (Georgia Waters), a kad se ispostavi da su u pravu, igračke "ožive" i krenu u ubojiti pohod, za to će biti prekasno. Odnosno, očeva sarkastična opaska "preživjet ćeš Božić u planinama" se, ironično, doslovno pretvara u preživljavanje, borbu za opstanak.

Nakon što se ranjavanja počnu nizati, jasno je da "igračke su to učinile". Zvuči obećavajuće... samo na papiru, ne i na ekranu. Plemenito je što su igračkama (leteće, plišane, navijajuće...) život udahnuli danas sve rjeđe rabljeni "stop motion" efekti koji su prije više od pola stoljeća, zaslugom majstor Raya Harryhausena, pokretali "Jasona i Argonaute".

Međutim, budžet je bio nizak i "Toys Of Terror" zbog njega izgleda takoreći poput sapunice, pa efekti koji ionako nisu napravljeni kako spada djeluju nakaradno dok kao da dolaze iz nekog filma šezdesetih. "Stop motion" može biti simpatičan na prvi pogled, ali ne i na svaki idući, kad efekti izgledaju nehotično smiješni, napadale familiju igračke ili - božićno drvce.

Bilo je ovdje materijala za solidno "poremećenu" horor komediju, no unatoč za humor verziranom scenaristu Gouldu, "Toys Of Terror" to nije postao, a nije ni strašan da uspije u naumu nagnati djecu da "vrište za blagdane", što očekuje Warner Bros, sudeći po natpisu na stranici filma.

Možda film može ponuditi tračak zabavice u vidu nekog čoporativnijeg i opuštenijeg filmofilsko-žanrovskog gledanja (par prijatelja, jumbo pizza, pivce za živce...), premda je i to dvojbeno. Ovako, trezvenije gledano, jedino iole vrijedno spomena, uz uporabu "stop motiona", jest kritika današnjeg potrošačkog društva (igračke) i, još više, s načina života.

Gotovo svaki član obitelji pilji u mobitel, napose klinci koji se najviše od svega boje da na planini neće biti signala i da će se zbog toga dosađivati. "Igra" s igračkama užasa barem ih je nakratko odmakla od ekrana. "Igračke su to učinile"? Jesu.

Nicholas Verso je poznat po režiji filma "Boys in the Trees" koji je imao premijeru a Veneciji, a Dana Gould je napisao scenarije za "Stan Versus Evil" i "Simpsonse".

"Božićne pjesme, tko ih želi pjevati", pita majka obitelji (Kyana Teresa) kad sa suprugom i djecom krene automobilom na blagdanski izlet u planine u jednoj sceni "Igračaka užasa". Da, Božić polako kuca na naša vrata s božićnim pjesmama i filmovima u slučaju da to niste zamijetili zbog briga oko korone. Zapravo, već je pokucao.

Božić je uranio ove godine u "online" videotekama. Svjetsko i hrvatsko "online" videotržište u ponudi ima premijeru prigodnog predblagdanskog filma "Toys Of Terror". Već se po naslovu "Igračke užasa" vidi kako nije posrijedi komedija s prefiksom "obiteljski" ili "fantastični", nego – horor.

Žanr strave i užasa u božićnom okrilju? Ništa novo ni sablažnjivo. Horori već godinama slave "crni Božić", a nerijetko su i "obiteljski" intonirani, od prvih "Gremlina" do "Krampusa".

Redatelj Nicholas Verso i scenarist Dana Gould sigurno su imali na umu "Gremlins" Joea Dantea i "Krampus" Michaela Doughertyja stvarajući "Toys Of Terror".

Imali su i mnoge druge "čišće" horore osamdesetih, kao "Dolls" Stuarta Gordona i "Child's Play" Toma Hollanda, pa čak i obiteljsko-dječje filmove devedesetih poput opet Danteovih "Small Soldiers", a i one komično-stravične tipa "Arachnophobia" Franka Marshalla (pauk u kokicama).

Dante bi od "Igračaka užasa" vjerojatno stvorio novi božićni kultni klasik, anti-s"Toy Story", ali Verso i Gould nisu ni približno njegova kapaciteta i od već viđene, no još uvijek potentne premise izvlače premalo da bismo film upamtili do ovog Božića, kamoli idućeg. Premisa je klasika.

Obitelj iznajmljuje prekrasnu trokatnicu u snijegom zametenim planinama, inače bivši dom za djecu, prazan već godinama nakon tragedije koja ga je zadesila. Dom nam je prikazan u prologu, odnosno netko je na pragu ustanove ostavio igračke. Kuća je trošna, nimalo po guštu najstarije kćerke tinejdžerice Alicije (Verity Marks) koja se boji da će umijeti od dosade i ne sviđa joj se očeva (Dayo Ade) sarkastična opaska "Preživjet ćeš Božić u planinama".

Jasno, ulaskom u kuću slijedi upozorenje da "treći kat nije siguran". Još jasnije, kuća će ubrzo biti i strašna kad najmlađi klinci, brat i sestra (Saul Elias, Zoe Fish) također u strahu od dosade, pronađu "one" igračke s kojima postaju nerazdvojni i koje će ih "opsjesti" u manifestacijama tipologije nadnaravnog horora.

Starija sestra osjeća da nešto nije u redu, kao i dadilja (Georgia Waters), a kad se ispostavi da su u pravu, igračke "ožive" i krenu u ubojiti pohod, za to će biti prekasno. Odnosno, očeva sarkastična opaska "preživjet ćeš Božić u planinama" se, ironično, doslovno pretvara u preživljavanje, borbu za opstanak.

Nakon što se ranjavanja počnu nizati, jasno je da "igračke su to učinile". Zvuči obećavajuće... samo na papiru, ne i na ekranu. Plemenito je što su igračkama (leteće, plišane, navijajuće...) život udahnuli danas sve rjeđe rabljeni "stop motion" efekti koji su prije više od pola stoljeća, zaslugom majstor Raya Harryhausena, pokretali "Jasona i Argonaute".

Međutim, budžet je bio nizak i "Toys Of Terror" zbog njega izgleda takoreći poput sapunice, pa efekti koji ionako nisu napravljeni kako spada djeluju nakaradno dok kao da dolaze iz nekog filma šezdesetih. "Stop motion" može biti simpatičan na prvi pogled, ali ne i na svaki idući, kad efekti izgledaju nehotično smiješni, napadale familiju igračke ili - božićno drvce.

Bilo je ovdje materijala za solidno "poremećenu" horor komediju, no unatoč za humor verziranom scenaristu Gouldu, "Toys Of Terror" to nije postao, a nije ni strašan da uspije u naumu nagnati djecu da "vrište za blagdane", što očekuje Warner Bros, sudeći po natpisu na stranici filma.

Možda film može ponuditi tračak zabavice u vidu nekog čoporativnijeg i opuštenijeg filmofilsko-žanrovskog gledanja (par prijatelja, jumbo pizza, pivce za živce...), premda je i to dvojbeno. Ovako, trezvenije gledano, jedino iole vrijedno spomena, uz uporabu "stop motiona", jest kritika današnjeg potrošačkog društva (igračke) i, još više, s načina života.

Gotovo svaki član obitelji pilji u mobitel, napose klinci koji se najviše od svega boje da na planini neće biti signala i da će se zbog toga dosađivati. "Igra" s igračkama užasa barem ih je nakratko odmakla od ekrana. "Igračke su to učinile"? Jesu.

Nicholas Verso je poznat po režiji filma "Boys in the Trees" koji je imao premijeru a Veneciji, a Dana Gould je napisao scenarije za "Stan Versus Evil" i "Simpsonse".
