Bilo je pitanje dana kad će Leos Carax snimiti mjuzikl, sjetimo li se ekstatične scene iz "Zle krvi": zaljubljeni Denis Lavant trči niz ulicu i radi zvijezde, ponesen pjesmom "Modern Love" Davida Bowieja kojoj je Noah Baumbach odao počast s Gretom Gerwig u "Frances Ha".

Taj dan je svanuo i Carax je snimio "Annette" sa sve popularnijim Adamom Driverom (gledamo ga i u "Posljednjem dvoboju") i oskarovkom Marion Cotillard u ulogama nesvakidašnjeg para, "stand-up" komičara i operne dive. "Annette" je ljetos otvorila Cannes, gdje je Carax dobio nagradu za režiju, a braća Ron i Russell Mael iz pop-rock dua Sparks za glazbu, da bi hrvatsku premijeru imala na Vukovarskom festivalu.

Gledatelje privučene zvjezdanim parom Driver-Cotillard treba upozoriti da "Annette" nije "La La Land" ili "Moulin Rouge". Naprotiv, anarhični i ekscentrični Carax kao da je htio demontirati romantični hollywoodski mjuzikl s "Annette", njegovim prvim filmom nakon izvanrednih i superiornijih "Svetih motora" iz 2012. godine. I ne samo hollywoodski – "Annette" je krajnja suprotnost i "Šerburškim kišobranima" Jacquesa Demyja.

Carax je htio napraviti mjuzikl za publiku modernih festivalskih art filmova. U "La La Landu" ljubavnici Ryan Gosling i Emma Stone nisu išli dalje od poljubaca i zagrljaja, a u ovom mjuziklu je dozvoljen seks, ali i redateljska art masturbacija rastegnuta na predugih 140-ak minuta.

Dakle, "Annette" je prije svega film s raspjevanim dijalozima za poklonike festivalske art kinematografije i Caraxa, pa tek onda mjuzikla, Cotillard i Drivera koji se glumački daju do kraja, on pogotovo u ponajboljoj ulozi dosad ("Marriage Story", "Paterson", "The Report", "Šutnja"). Ton "Annette" je naštiman od uvodnih taktova. Glas redatelja traži punu posvećenost publike i upozorava je da ako želi pjevati, pljeskati, smijati se ili prditi (!), to radi samo u svojoj glavi.

"Disanje se neće tolerirati tijekom predstave", zaključuje redatelj koji se nakratko pojavljuje pred kamerom i pita "Možemo li početi?". Mjuzikl tada počinje, i to tako što filmska ekipa izlazi na ulicu i pjeva zaraznu pjesmu "May We Start", djelomično i o snimanju samoga filma, dok ih kamera prati u neprekinutom kadru.

Režijski virtuozno i metafilmski potentno, posebice nakon što Driver i Cotillard odjenu kostime likova Henryja McHenryja i Ann Defrasnoux te odu svaki na svoju predstavu, podsjećajući na Lavantova misterioznog gospodina Oscara koji se u filmu "Holy Motors" vozio u limuzini od adrese do adrese i transformirao/glumio (u) nekog drugog.

I "Annette" je film o glumljenju glume, pretvaranju i istinitim lažima koje glumci prodaju publici, ali manje nadahnut i ravnomjeran u viziji od "Svetih motora", podijeljen između "hit" i "miss" trenutaka u isprepletanju kinematografije, teatra, opere i performansa. Čini se da je Caraxu namjera pogađati krive note i nervirati publiku, počevši od gorke antiromantičnosti slatkog mjuzikla i nepostojane kemije između Drivera i Cotillard, neovisno o tome što zdušno pjevaju "We Love Each Other So Much".

Ovaj film ne želi da ga se voli, prije mrzi ili eventualno cijeni, zahvaljujući autodestruktivnom Caraxu koji namjerno provocira publiku baš poput Driverova "stand-up" komičara, ugledanog u scensku i inu autodestrukciju De Nirovog "razjarenog bika" Jakea La Motte.

Prva polovica filma je još razmjerno "normalna" i (ovdje tek sporadični) proplamsajevi Caraxova genija tu češće zaiskre, primjerice kad satirizira "celebrity" (ne)kulturu tabloidnim vijestima o fazama odnosa zvjezdanog para na vrhuncu karijera u stilu "TMZ-a" ili "MeToo" pokret Anneinim košmarom da je šest žena istupilo protiv Henryja i njegova zlostavljanja.

Druga polovica je otvoreno bizarna kad Henry i Ann dobiju bebu, Annette, koja nije ljudsko biće, već umjetna marionetska lutka. S obzirom na to da Annette ima glas majke i postat će zvijezda, poanta pjesnika je jasna (eksploatacija i manipulacija), no mnoge će odbiti pogled na crvenokosu klinku-lutku nalik mlađoj seki Pinokija ili Chuckyja. Na momente briljantna, na momente iritantna, "Annette" je stvorena da odbija ili dijeli publiku.

Od pijanista do dirigenta

Ulogu operne zvijezde zamalo su odigrale Kristen Stewart, Rooney Mara i Michelle Williams, navodno čak i Rihanna. Sporednu ulogu dirigenta igra Simon Helberg ("Teorija velikog praska") koji je glumio pijanista u "Neslavno slavnoj Florence Jenkins". "Annette" je kao zvučan naslov odabrana za prvi film ciklusa Vukovar FF u Splitu, tj. splitskoj "Kinoteci".

Bilo je pitanje dana kad će Leos Carax snimiti mjuzikl, sjetimo li se ekstatične scene iz "Zle krvi": zaljubljeni Denis Lavant trči niz ulicu i radi zvijezde, ponesen pjesmom "Modern Love" Davida Bowieja kojoj je Noah Baumbach odao počast s Gretom Gerwig u "Frances Ha".

Taj dan je svanuo i Carax je snimio "Annette" sa sve popularnijim Adamom Driverom (gledamo ga i u "Posljednjem dvoboju") i oskarovkom Marion Cotillard u ulogama nesvakidašnjeg para, "stand-up" komičara i operne dive. "Annette" je ljetos otvorila Cannes, gdje je Carax dobio nagradu za režiju, a braća Ron i Russell Mael iz pop-rock dua Sparks za glazbu, da bi hrvatsku premijeru imala na Vukovarskom festivalu.

Gledatelje privučene zvjezdanim parom Driver-Cotillard treba upozoriti da "Annette" nije "La La Land" ili "Moulin Rouge". Naprotiv, anarhični i ekscentrični Carax kao da je htio demontirati romantični hollywoodski mjuzikl s "Annette", njegovim prvim filmom nakon izvanrednih i superiornijih "Svetih motora" iz 2012. godine. I ne samo hollywoodski – "Annette" je krajnja suprotnost i "Šerburškim kišobranima" Jacquesa Demyja.

Carax je htio napraviti mjuzikl za publiku modernih festivalskih art filmova. U "La La Landu" ljubavnici Ryan Gosling i Emma Stone nisu išli dalje od poljubaca i zagrljaja, a u ovom mjuziklu je dozvoljen seks, ali i redateljska art masturbacija rastegnuta na predugih 140-ak minuta.

Dakle, "Annette" je prije svega film s raspjevanim dijalozima za poklonike festivalske art kinematografije i Caraxa, pa tek onda mjuzikla, Cotillard i Drivera koji se glumački daju do kraja, on pogotovo u ponajboljoj ulozi dosad ("Marriage Story", "Paterson", "The Report", "Šutnja"). Ton "Annette" je naštiman od uvodnih taktova. Glas redatelja traži punu posvećenost publike i upozorava je da ako želi pjevati, pljeskati, smijati se ili prditi (!), to radi samo u svojoj glavi.

"Disanje se neće tolerirati tijekom predstave", zaključuje redatelj koji se nakratko pojavljuje pred kamerom i pita "Možemo li početi?". Mjuzikl tada počinje, i to tako što filmska ekipa izlazi na ulicu i pjeva zaraznu pjesmu "May We Start", djelomično i o snimanju samoga filma, dok ih kamera prati u neprekinutom kadru.

Režijski virtuozno i metafilmski potentno, posebice nakon što Driver i Cotillard odjenu kostime likova Henryja McHenryja i Ann Defrasnoux te odu svaki na svoju predstavu, podsjećajući na Lavantova misterioznog gospodina Oscara koji se u filmu "Holy Motors" vozio u limuzini od adrese do adrese i transformirao/glumio (u) nekog drugog.

I "Annette" je film o glumljenju glume, pretvaranju i istinitim lažima koje glumci prodaju publici, ali manje nadahnut i ravnomjeran u viziji od "Svetih motora", podijeljen između "hit" i "miss" trenutaka u isprepletanju kinematografije, teatra, opere i performansa. Čini se da je Caraxu namjera pogađati krive note i nervirati publiku, počevši od gorke antiromantičnosti slatkog mjuzikla i nepostojane kemije između Drivera i Cotillard, neovisno o tome što zdušno pjevaju "We Love Each Other So Much".

Ovaj film ne želi da ga se voli, prije mrzi ili eventualno cijeni, zahvaljujući autodestruktivnom Caraxu koji namjerno provocira publiku baš poput Driverova "stand-up" komičara, ugledanog u scensku i inu autodestrukciju De Nirovog "razjarenog bika" Jakea La Motte.

Prva polovica filma je još razmjerno "normalna" i (ovdje tek sporadični) proplamsajevi Caraxova genija tu češće zaiskre, primjerice kad satirizira "celebrity" (ne)kulturu tabloidnim vijestima o fazama odnosa zvjezdanog para na vrhuncu karijera u stilu "TMZ-a" ili "MeToo" pokret Anneinim košmarom da je šest žena istupilo protiv Henryja i njegova zlostavljanja.

Druga polovica je otvoreno bizarna kad Henry i Ann dobiju bebu, Annette, koja nije ljudsko biće, već umjetna marionetska lutka. S obzirom na to da Annette ima glas majke i postat će zvijezda, poanta pjesnika je jasna (eksploatacija i manipulacija), no mnoge će odbiti pogled na crvenokosu klinku-lutku nalik mlađoj seki Pinokija ili Chuckyja. Na momente briljantna, na momente iritantna, "Annette" je stvorena da odbija ili dijeli publiku.

Od pijanista do dirigenta

Ulogu operne zvijezde zamalo su odigrale Kristen Stewart, Rooney Mara i Michelle Williams, navodno čak i Rihanna. Sporednu ulogu dirigenta igra Simon Helberg ("Teorija velikog praska") koji je glumio pijanista u "Neslavno slavnoj Florence Jenkins". "Annette" je kao zvučan naslov odabrana za prvi film ciklusa Vukovar FF u Splitu, tj. splitskoj "Kinoteci".
