Atlantida, mitska otočna država koja se spominje u Platonovim dijalozima Timaj i Kritija, do danas je ostala predmet fascinacije, kao što je to bila za fizičare i povjesničare prije više od dvije tisuće godina, piše National Geographic.

Platon opisuje Atlantidu kao moćno i napredno kraljevstvo koje je u ocean potonulo za jedan dan i noć oko 9.600 godine prije nove ere.

Mišljenja o tome je li Platonova priča činjenica ili metafora - do danas su podijeljena.

Istina ili mit?

Interes za Atlantidu obnovljeno je tokom 19. stoljeća, kad je ponovo počelo povezivanje Platonove Atlantide s povijesnim lokacijama, najčešće grčkim otokom Santorini, koje je uništen vulkanskom erupcijom oko 1.600 godina prije nove ere.

Platon (kroz lik Kritije u svojim dijalozima) opisuje Atlantidu kao otok veći od Libije i Male Azije zajedno, koje se nalazi u Atlantiku odmah iza Herkulovih stupova - mjesto za koje se generalno pretpostavlja da predstavlja Gibraltarski prolaz.

Kultura na otoku bila je napredna, a imala je i ustav koji je bio sumnjivo sličan onom koji je opisan u Platonovoj Državi. Zaštitnik Atlantide bio je bog mora Posejdon, koji je svog sina Atlanta ili Atlasa (po kojem je Atlantida i dobila ime) učinio kraljem otoka i dijela oceana koji ga je okruživao.

Moćna vojska Atlantide je, prema Platonovim spisima, na svom vrhuncu osvojila Egipat i veliki dio zapadne Europe. Ali kako je njihova moć rasla, njihova je etičnost počela opadati. Prije no što se dogodila misteriozna katastrofa zbog koje je Atlantida nestala, izbio je rat u kojem je savez država na čelu s Atinom potisnuo stanovnike otoka.

Kasnije, božanskom kaznom, otok su zadesili zemljotresi i poplave, pa je tako potonuo more.

Platonov Kritija u knjizi kaže da je priču o Atlantidi čuo od svoga djeda, koji ju je čuo od atinskog državnika Solona (300 godina prije Platonova doba), a on ju je naučio od egipatskog svećenika, koji je rekao da se to dogodilo prije oko 9.000 godina. Bez obzira na to je li Platon vjerovao u svoju priču ili ne, njegova namjera svakako je bila da pojača ideje o idealnom društvu, koristeći priče o pobjedi i nesreći.

Pojedini drevni pisci smatrali su Atlantidu fiktivnim ili metaforičkim mitom, dok su drugi vjerovali da je ona zaista postojala. Aristotel je vjerovao da je Platon, njegov učitelj, izmislio Atlantidu da bi tako podučavao filozofiju.

Izron Atlantide

U prvim stoljećima kršćanske ere, o Atlantidi se malo govorilo.

Utopijski roman engleskog filozofa i znanstvenika Francisa Bacona, objavljen posthumno, 1627. godine, pod nazivom "Nova Atlantida", ponovo je izgurao priču o Atlantidi na površinu. Njegovo djelo, poput Platonovog, društvo na otoku prikazuje kao politički i znanstveno napredno.

Bivši američki kongresmen Ignatius L. Donnelly objavio je 1882. godine pseudoznanstvenu knjigu "Atlantida". Njegova knjiga oživjela je priču - učinila je da Atlantida izroni, i od nje stvorila senzaciju i dovela do opće pomame kod ljudi da je pronađu.

Donnelly je također postavio hipotezu o naprednoj civilizaciji čiji su imigranti naselili veći dio drevne Europe, Afrike i Amerike, a čiji su heroji inspirirali grčku, hinduističku i skandinavsku mitologiju. Donnellijeve teorije popularizirali su i razradili teozofi s početka 20. stoljeća koji su dodatno u nju ugrađivali nova vjerovanja i pretpostavke.

S vremena na vrijeme, arheolozi i povjesničari pronalaze dokaze o postojanju. Močvarni, prethistorijski grad u priobalnoj Španjolskoj; sumnjiva podvodna stijena na Bahamima... Od svih teorija, najprihvaćenija je ona o grčkom otoku Santorini (drevna Terra).

Atlantida, mitska otočna država koja se spominje u Platonovim dijalozima Timaj i Kritija, do danas je ostala predmet fascinacije, kao što je to bila za fizičare i povjesničare prije više od dvije tisuće godina, piše National Geographic.

Platon opisuje Atlantidu kao moćno i napredno kraljevstvo koje je u ocean potonulo za jedan dan i noć oko 9.600 godine prije nove ere.

Mišljenja o tome je li Platonova priča činjenica ili metafora - do danas su podijeljena.

Istina ili mit?

Interes za Atlantidu obnovljeno je tokom 19. stoljeća, kad je ponovo počelo povezivanje Platonove Atlantide s povijesnim lokacijama, najčešće grčkim otokom Santorini, koje je uništen vulkanskom erupcijom oko 1.600 godina prije nove ere.

Platon (kroz lik Kritije u svojim dijalozima) opisuje Atlantidu kao otok veći od Libije i Male Azije zajedno, koje se nalazi u Atlantiku odmah iza Herkulovih stupova - mjesto za koje se generalno pretpostavlja da predstavlja Gibraltarski prolaz.

Kultura na otoku bila je napredna, a imala je i ustav koji je bio sumnjivo sličan onom koji je opisan u Platonovoj Državi. Zaštitnik Atlantide bio je bog mora Posejdon, koji je svog sina Atlanta ili Atlasa (po kojem je Atlantida i dobila ime) učinio kraljem otoka i dijela oceana koji ga je okruživao.

Moćna vojska Atlantide je, prema Platonovim spisima, na svom vrhuncu osvojila Egipat i veliki dio zapadne Europe. Ali kako je njihova moć rasla, njihova je etičnost počela opadati. Prije no što se dogodila misteriozna katastrofa zbog koje je Atlantida nestala, izbio je rat u kojem je savez država na čelu s Atinom potisnuo stanovnike otoka.

Kasnije, božanskom kaznom, otok su zadesili zemljotresi i poplave, pa je tako potonuo more.

Platonov Kritija u knjizi kaže da je priču o Atlantidi čuo od svoga djeda, koji ju je čuo od atinskog državnika Solona (300 godina prije Platonova doba), a on ju je naučio od egipatskog svećenika, koji je rekao da se to dogodilo prije oko 9.000 godina. Bez obzira na to je li Platon vjerovao u svoju priču ili ne, njegova namjera svakako je bila da pojača ideje o idealnom društvu, koristeći priče o pobjedi i nesreći.

Pojedini drevni pisci smatrali su Atlantidu fiktivnim ili metaforičkim mitom, dok su drugi vjerovali da je ona zaista postojala. Aristotel je vjerovao da je Platon, njegov učitelj, izmislio Atlantidu da bi tako podučavao filozofiju.

Izron Atlantide

U prvim stoljećima kršćanske ere, o Atlantidi se malo govorilo.

Utopijski roman engleskog filozofa i znanstvenika Francisa Bacona, objavljen posthumno, 1627. godine, pod nazivom "Nova Atlantida", ponovo je izgurao priču o Atlantidi na površinu. Njegovo djelo, poput Platonovog, društvo na otoku prikazuje kao politički i znanstveno napredno.

Bivši američki kongresmen Ignatius L. Donnelly objavio je 1882. godine pseudoznanstvenu knjigu "Atlantida". Njegova knjiga oživjela je priču - učinila je da Atlantida izroni, i od nje stvorila senzaciju i dovela do opće pomame kod ljudi da je pronađu.

Donnelly je također postavio hipotezu o naprednoj civilizaciji čiji su imigranti naselili veći dio drevne Europe, Afrike i Amerike, a čiji su heroji inspirirali grčku, hinduističku i skandinavsku mitologiju. Donnellijeve teorije popularizirali su i razradili teozofi s početka 20. stoljeća koji su dodatno u nju ugrađivali nova vjerovanja i pretpostavke.

S vremena na vrijeme, arheolozi i povjesničari pronalaze dokaze o postojanju. Močvarni, prethistorijski grad u priobalnoj Španjolskoj; sumnjiva podvodna stijena na Bahamima... Od svih teorija, najprihvaćenija je ona o grčkom otoku Santorini (drevna Terra).

Atlantida, mitska otočna država koja se spominje u Platonovim dijalozima Timaj i Kritija, do danas je ostala predmet fascinacije, kao što je to bila za fizičare i povjesničare prije više od dvije tisuće godina, piše National Geographic.

Platon opisuje Atlantidu kao moćno i napredno kraljevstvo koje je u ocean potonulo za jedan dan i noć oko 9.600 godine prije nove ere.

Mišljenja o tome je li Platonova priča činjenica ili metafora - do danas su podijeljena.

Istina ili mit?

Interes za Atlantidu obnovljeno je tokom 19. stoljeća, kad je ponovo počelo povezivanje Platonove Atlantide s povijesnim lokacijama, najčešće grčkim otokom Santorini, koje je uništen vulkanskom erupcijom oko 1.600 godina prije nove ere.
