Jedna je osvojila Oskara za mjuzikl ‘Jadnici‘, druga se kipićem okitila za dramu ‘Očima Tammy Faye‘, a sad su ih spojile uloge majki i kućanica iz predgrađa u psihološkom trileru ‘Majčinski instinkt‘. Anne Hathaway i Jessica Chastain glumački su se otisnule u 1960-e u redateljskom prvijencu uglednog francuskog snimatelja Benoita Delhommea (Teorija svega, Ljubavnik Lady Chatterley,  spot Lady Gage...) koji s manje ili više uspjeha oponaša stil onodobnog velikana Alfreda Hitchcocka. I odmah treba reći da Delhommeu bolje leži kamera od redateljskog stolca.

‘Majčinski instinkt‘ je pretenciozno zamišljen uradak koji svim silama nastoji dostići žanrovske uzore. Gradi se tu napetost oko ključnog motiva gubitka djeteta, pazi se na kadriranje i ekspresiju junakinja, za završnicu se pakira prigodni zaokret iznenađenja, ali svejedno svemu nedostaje prave supstance. U zanatskom smislu u ‘Instinktu‘ majčinstvo bolje pristaje Jessici Chastain, Njezina je Alice kao mama iz susjedstva suptilnije predstavljena, sve vrijeme tjeskobno svjesna opasnosti koja vreba iz neposredne blizine. Anne Hathaway u svojoj je roli traumatizirane roditeljice Celine imala više prostora za nadogradnju, no u napadima preglumljivanja nije ga stigla iskoristiti. Previše je kod nje svega, i suza, i nesvjestice i napada agresije koji kulminiraju karikiranim ‘chick fightom‘ i prilično naivnim kemijanjem s omamljujućim supstancama za kroćenje suparnika.

I inače na ekranu dvije glavne protagonistice djeluju nekompatibilno, što je daleko veći problem od loše vlasulje blondine na glavi prirodno riđokose Chastain. Kao da glumice voze svaka svoju dionicu utrke bez jasnog cilja i nevoljko se sudaraju tek kad tete-a-tete treba pokazati međusobnu netrpeljivost.  Muške uloge ovdje su, sasvim u skladu s aktualnim valom filmske ‘feminizacije‘, potisnute u sporedni plan. Supruzi hranitelji obitelji (Josh Charles, Andres Danielsen Lie) trebali su oslikati tada još sveprisutni patrijarhat američke suburbije, no umjesto toga ostaju tek jedva primjetni epizodisti, od malo riječi i akcije.

‘Majčinski instinkt‘ i u pripovjednom je smislu prilično tanahna melodrama presvučena glazurom noira koji se iščekuje, a nikad se ne dogodi.  No, kad fabula već kašljuca, s kostimografijom sve štima.

Duh ranih 1960-ih vidljiv je u svakom kostimu, frizuri i šeširiću a la Jackie Kennedy. Bogate snimateljske finese otkrivaju slabosti Delhommea kao redatelja, a relativna kratkoća filma u trajanju od tek sat i pol ovdje nije prednost. Koja minuta više mogla je poslužiti barem da se unese malo nijansi u suodnos dviju matera neprijateljica. Ovako, ‘Majčinski instinkt‘ ostaje uskraćen za ono što mu je trebala biti glavna prednost. Dojam dodatno kvari i nemušti završetak filma koji je tražio čvršću argumentaciju za konačnu pobjedničku utrku po pijesku. Delhommeov psihološki triler nastao po romanu belgijske književnice Barbare Abel trebalo je bolje (do)raditi.

Jedna je osvojila Oskara za mjuzikl ‘Jadnici‘, druga se kipićem okitila za dramu ‘Očima Tammy Faye‘, a sad su ih spojile uloge majki i kućanica iz predgrađa u psihološkom trileru ‘Majčinski instinkt‘. Anne Hathaway i Jessica Chastain glumački su se otisnule u 1960-e u redateljskom prvijencu uglednog francuskog snimatelja Benoita Delhommea (Teorija svega, Ljubavnik Lady Chatterley,  spot Lady Gage...) koji s manje ili više uspjeha oponaša stil onodobnog velikana Alfreda Hitchcocka. I odmah treba reći da Delhommeu bolje leži kamera od redateljskog stolca.

‘Majčinski instinkt‘ je pretenciozno zamišljen uradak koji svim silama nastoji dostići žanrovske uzore. Gradi se tu napetost oko ključnog motiva gubitka djeteta, pazi se na kadriranje i ekspresiju junakinja, za završnicu se pakira prigodni zaokret iznenađenja, ali svejedno svemu nedostaje prave supstance. U zanatskom smislu u ‘Instinktu‘ majčinstvo bolje pristaje Jessici Chastain, Njezina je Alice kao mama iz susjedstva suptilnije predstavljena, sve vrijeme tjeskobno svjesna opasnosti koja vreba iz neposredne blizine. Anne Hathaway u svojoj je roli traumatizirane roditeljice Celine imala više prostora za nadogradnju, no u napadima preglumljivanja nije ga stigla iskoristiti. Previše je kod nje svega, i suza, i nesvjestice i napada agresije koji kulminiraju karikiranim ‘chick fightom‘ i prilično naivnim kemijanjem s omamljujućim supstancama za kroćenje suparnika.

I inače na ekranu dvije glavne protagonistice djeluju nekompatibilno, što je daleko veći problem od loše vlasulje blondine na glavi prirodno riđokose Chastain. Kao da glumice voze svaka svoju dionicu utrke bez jasnog cilja i nevoljko se sudaraju tek kad tete-a-tete treba pokazati međusobnu netrpeljivost.  Muške uloge ovdje su, sasvim u skladu s aktualnim valom filmske ‘feminizacije‘, potisnute u sporedni plan. Supruzi hranitelji obitelji (Josh Charles, Andres Danielsen Lie) trebali su oslikati tada još sveprisutni patrijarhat američke suburbije, no umjesto toga ostaju tek jedva primjetni epizodisti, od malo riječi i akcije.

‘Majčinski instinkt‘ i u pripovjednom je smislu prilično tanahna melodrama presvučena glazurom noira koji se iščekuje, a nikad se ne dogodi.  No, kad fabula već kašljuca, s kostimografijom sve štima.

Duh ranih 1960-ih vidljiv je u svakom kostimu, frizuri i šeširiću a la Jackie Kennedy. Bogate snimateljske finese otkrivaju slabosti Delhommea kao redatelja, a relativna kratkoća filma u trajanju od tek sat i pol ovdje nije prednost. Koja minuta više mogla je poslužiti barem da se unese malo nijansi u suodnos dviju matera neprijateljica. Ovako, ‘Majčinski instinkt‘ ostaje uskraćen za ono što mu je trebala biti glavna prednost. Dojam dodatno kvari i nemušti završetak filma koji je tražio čvršću argumentaciju za konačnu pobjedničku utrku po pijesku. Delhommeov psihološki triler nastao po romanu belgijske književnice Barbare Abel trebalo je bolje (do)raditi.
