Udruge koje se bave zaštitom morskih pasa upozoravaju kako bi razvoj učinkovitog cjepiva protiv koronavirusa na globalnoj razini mogao poharati populaciju tih riba. Objašnjavaju, naime, da se znanstvenici utrkuju u proizvodnji cjepiva protiv koronavirusa koristeći skvalen koji se dobiva iz ulja jetre morskog pasa – prenosi npr.org, te napominju kako je skvalen čest hidratantni sastojak kozmetike, a također se koristi u cjepivima protiv malarije i gripe kao sredstvo koje pojačava reakciju imunološkog sustava.

Neprofitna organizacija Shark Allies predviđa da bi oko 500 tisuća morskih pasa moglo biti ubijeno ako se učinkovitim pokaže cjepivo protiv koronavirusa sa skvalenom te životinje. Prema procjeni iste organizacije, godišnje se već ubija 2,7 milijuna morskih pasa zbog njihovog skvalena za potrebe kozmetičke industrije.

- Problem je u tome što će se na skvalen iz ulja jetre morskog pasa, kao sastojka cjepiva protiv COVID-19, gledati kao na nešto što je neizbježno, te se neće testirati neživotinjski izvori skvalena kao što su maslinovo ulje, šećerna trska, pšenične klice, bakterije i kvasac – kazala je Stefanie Brendl, direktorica Shark Alliesa.

Prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije od 2. listopada, u kliničkoj i pretkliničkoj procjeni je 193 cjepiva protiv koronavirusa. Navodno najmanje pet od tih cjepiva sadrži skvalen dobiven iz morskog psa.

- Naš apel je da se krene s ispitivanjem alternativnih izvora skvalena u proizvodnji cjepiva, jer dugoročno se ne možemo osloniti na resurse divljih životinja kada su u pitanju globalne potrebe - rekla je Stefanie Brendl.

Napomenula je kako u kontekstu proizvodnje potencijalno spasonosnog cjepiva ne tvrdi kako su morski psi vrjedniji od zaštite od ljudi, te naglašava:

- Očuvanjem tih glavnih grabežljivaca oceana, čuvamo ostatak našeg ekosustava, pa tako i ljudsku populaciju. Morski psi održavaju zdrav riblji fond, održavaju lanac ishrane netaknutim, te drže bolesti dalje od ostalih populacija životinja. Sretno u pokušaju da to zamijenimo kad izgubimo morske pse.

Udruge koje se bave zaštitom morskih pasa upozoravaju kako bi razvoj učinkovitog cjepiva protiv koronavirusa na globalnoj razini mogao poharati populaciju tih riba. Objašnjavaju, naime, da se znanstvenici utrkuju u proizvodnji cjepiva protiv koronavirusa koristeći skvalen koji se dobiva iz ulja jetre morskog pasa – prenosi npr.org, te napominju kako je skvalen čest hidratantni sastojak kozmetike, a također se koristi u cjepivima protiv malarije i gripe kao sredstvo koje pojačava reakciju imunološkog sustava.

Neprofitna organizacija Shark Allies predviđa da bi oko 500 tisuća morskih pasa moglo biti ubijeno ako se učinkovitim pokaže cjepivo protiv koronavirusa sa skvalenom te životinje. Prema procjeni iste organizacije, godišnje se već ubija 2,7 milijuna morskih pasa zbog njihovog skvalena za potrebe kozmetičke industrije.

- Problem je u tome što će se na skvalen iz ulja jetre morskog pasa, kao sastojka cjepiva protiv COVID-19, gledati kao na nešto što je neizbježno, te se neće testirati neživotinjski izvori skvalena kao što su maslinovo ulje, šećerna trska, pšenične klice, bakterije i kvasac – kazala je Stefanie Brendl, direktorica Shark Alliesa.

Prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije od 2. listopada, u kliničkoj i pretkliničkoj procjeni je 193 cjepiva protiv koronavirusa. Navodno najmanje pet od tih cjepiva sadrži skvalen dobiven iz morskog psa.

- Naš apel je da se krene s ispitivanjem alternativnih izvora skvalena u proizvodnji cjepiva, jer dugoročno se ne možemo osloniti na resurse divljih životinja kada su u pitanju globalne potrebe - rekla je Stefanie Brendl.

Napomenula je kako u kontekstu proizvodnje potencijalno spasonosnog cjepiva ne tvrdi kako su morski psi vrjedniji od zaštite od ljudi, te naglašava:

- Očuvanjem tih glavnih grabežljivaca oceana, čuvamo ostatak našeg ekosustava, pa tako i ljudsku populaciju. Morski psi održavaju zdrav riblji fond, održavaju lanac ishrane netaknutim, te drže bolesti dalje od ostalih populacija životinja. Sretno u pokušaju da to zamijenimo kad izgubimo morske pse.

Populacija morskih pasa mogla bi biti poharana zbog skvalena iz ulja njihove jetre koji se koristi za izradu cjepiva protiv koronavirusa

Udruge koje se bave zaštitom morskih pasa upozoravaju kako bi razvoj učinkovitog cjepiva protiv koronavirusa na globalnoj razini mogao poharati populaciju tih riba. Objašnjavaju, naime, da se znanstvenici utrkuju u proizvodnji cjepiva protiv koronavirusa koristeći skvalen koji se dobiva iz ulja jetre morskog pasa – prenosi npr.org, te napominju kako je skvalen čest hidratantni sastojak kozmetike, a također se koristi u cjepivima protiv malarije i gripe kao sredstvo koje pojačava reakciju imunološkog sustava.

Neprofitna organizacija Shark Allies predviđa da bi oko 500 tisuća morskih pasa moglo biti ubijeno ako se učinkovitim pokaže cjepivo protiv koronavirusa sa skvalenom te životinje. Prema procjeni iste organizacije, godišnje se već ubija 2,7 milijuna morskih pasa zbog njihovog skvalena za potrebe kozmetičke industrije.

- Problem je u tome što će se na skvalen iz ulja jetre morskog pasa, kao sastojka cjepiva protiv COVID-19, gledati kao na nešto što je neizbježno, te se neće testirati neživotinjski izvori skvalena kao što su maslinovo ulje, šećerna trska, pšenične klice, bakterije i kvasac – kazala je Stefanie Brendl, direktorica Shark Alliesa.

Prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije od 2. listopada, u kliničkoj i pretkliničkoj procjeni je 193 cjepiva protiv koronavirusa. Navodno najmanje pet od tih cjepiva sadrži skvalen dobiven iz morskog psa.

- Naš apel je da se krene s ispitivanjem alternativnih izvora skvalena u proizvodnji cjepiva, jer dugoročno se ne možemo osloniti na resurse divljih životinja kada su u pitanju globalne potrebe - rekla je Stefanie Brendl.

Napomenula je kako u kontekstu proizvodnje potencijalno spasonosnog cjepiva ne tvrdi kako su morski psi vrjedniji od zaštite od ljudi, te naglašava:

- Očuvanjem tih glavnih grabežljivaca oceana, čuvamo ostatak našeg ekosustava, pa tako i ljudsku populaciju. Morski psi održavaju zdrav riblji fond, održavaju lanac ishrane netaknutim, te drže bolesti dalje od ostalih populacija životinja. Sretno u pokušaju da to zamijenimo kad izgubimo morske pse.
