Žitelji otoka Hvara, Brača i Visa, a naročito pripadnici klera, u srijedu su s tugom primili vijest da je nakon duge i teške bolesti preminuo mons. Slobodan Štambuk, trootočni biskup u miru, okrijepljen svetim sakramentima u svećeničkom domu u Splitu u 83. godini života, 57. godini svećeništva i 34. godini biskupstva.

Omiljeni biskup rođen je 1. ožujka 1941. u Selcima na otoku Braču, od oca Josipa i majke Nedjeljke-Perice rođene Jakšić. Gimnaziju i studij teologije završio je u Zadru.

Za svećenika Hvarske biskupije zaređen je 3. srpnja 1966. u rodnim Selcima. Od 1966. do 1968. bio je župnik u Pražnicima i Gornjem Humcu na Braču, od 1968. do 1971. župnik u Vrisniku i Pitvama na Hvaru, od 1971. do 1978. župnik u Vrbanju i Svirčima na Hvaru, od 1978. do 1981. župnik u Nerežišćima, te od 1981. do 1989. župnik u Supetru i Škripu, dok je od 1979. do 1989. uređivao i list "Bračka Crkva".

Sveti Otac Ivan Pavao II. imenovao ga je hvarsko-bračko-viškim biskupom 30. ožujka 1989. godine, a mjesec dana kasnije zaređen je u Hvaru. Glavni zareditelj bio je apostolski pronuncij za tadašnju Jugoslaviju, nadbiskup mons. Gabriel Montalvo, a suzareditelji tadašnji splitsko-makarski nadbiskup i metropolit mons. Ante Jurić i dotadašnji otočni biskup mons. Celestin Bezmalinović.

Tijekom svoga svećeništva širio je vjeru i bio pri ruci svima kojima je mogao pomoći duhovno i materijalno. Kada je već bio u godinama i bolestan Papa Franjo je prihvatio njegovo odreknuće od službe 9. ožujka 2018. godine.

S radošću je najavljivao svoje nasljednike, mons. Petra Palića i mons. Ranka Vidovića, s kojima je nakon toga jako dobro surađivao. Mi novinari smo ga u prilici najavljivanja biskupa Palića, znajući da je tijekom svoje službe itekako brinuo o duhovnim i materijalnim dobrima, a osobito o svećeničkim zvanjima, pitali što će ubuduće raditi, čime će se baviti nakon odlaska u mirovinu.

- Najprije, da se razumijemo, ostajem biskup, zar ne? Biskup je do kraja života, baš kao i svećenik. Drugo, ostajem u Hvaru. Kao čovjek koji se značajno posvetio Crkvi, a 77. mi je godina, najviše sam proživio u Hvaru, pa je nekako logično da tu i ostanem do kraja života.

Čime ću se ubuduće baviti? Sve ovisi od toga kakvo će biti moje zdravstveno stanje. Želio bih pisati, želio bih neke stvari koje sam zapamtio staviti na papir. Volio bih napisati, jer imam već dosta toga, moj ratni dnevnik koji bi zasigurno bio interesantan – odgovorio je tada biskup Štambuk.

Živo se sjećamo i proslave njegove 30. obljetnice biskupskog ređenja u hvarskoj katedrali 2019. godine. Tada je propovijedao šibenski biskup u miru Ante Ivas koji je apostrofirao trnovit životni put biskupa Štambuka, jer je shvatio da je po svome imenu, krštenju i svećeništvu pozvan biti u službi Božje slobode i da mu cijeli život treba biti u znaku borbe za slobodu.

A to, naravno nije nimalo lako ni u Crkvi, ni izvan nje, pa je biskup Slobodan u ozračju hrvatske slobode vrlo često citirao pjesnika "...jer više nisam putnik bez karte. Ja imam svoj brod, svog Boga, svoj svod i svoj rod!" Zato "Oj, budi svoj!"

Žitelji otoka Hvara, Brača i Visa, a naročito pripadnici klera, u srijedu su s tugom primili vijest da je nakon duge i teške bolesti preminuo mons. Slobodan Štambuk, trootočni biskup u miru, okrijepljen svetim sakramentima u svećeničkom domu u Splitu u 83. godini života, 57. godini svećeništva i 34. godini biskupstva.

Omiljeni biskup rođen je 1. ožujka 1941. u Selcima na otoku Braču, od oca Josipa i majke Nedjeljke-Perice rođene Jakšić. Gimnaziju i studij teologije završio je u Zadru.

Za svećenika Hvarske biskupije zaređen je 3. srpnja 1966. u rodnim Selcima. Od 1966. do 1968. bio je župnik u Pražnicima i Gornjem Humcu na Braču, od 1968. do 1971. župnik u Vrisniku i Pitvama na Hvaru, od 1971. do 1978. župnik u Vrbanju i Svirčima na Hvaru, od 1978. do 1981. župnik u Nerežišćima, te od 1981. do 1989. župnik u Supetru i Škripu, dok je od 1979. do 1989. uređivao i list "Bračka Crkva".

Sveti Otac Ivan Pavao II. imenovao ga je hvarsko-bračko-viškim biskupom 30. ožujka 1989. godine, a mjesec dana kasnije zaređen je u Hvaru. Glavni zareditelj bio je apostolski pronuncij za tadašnju Jugoslaviju, nadbiskup mons. Gabriel Montalvo, a suzareditelji tadašnji splitsko-makarski nadbiskup i metropolit mons. Ante Jurić i dotadašnji otočni biskup mons. Celestin Bezmalinović.

Tijekom svoga svećeništva širio je vjeru i bio pri ruci svima kojima je mogao pomoći duhovno i materijalno. Kada je već bio u godinama i bolestan Papa Franjo je prihvatio njegovo odreknuće od službe 9. ožujka 2018. godine.

S radošću je najavljivao svoje nasljednike, mons. Petra Palića i mons. Ranka Vidovića, s kojima je nakon toga jako dobro surađivao. Mi novinari smo ga u prilici najavljivanja biskupa Palića, znajući da je tijekom svoje službe itekako brinuo o duhovnim i materijalnim dobrima, a osobito o svećeničkim zvanjima, pitali što će ubuduće raditi, čime će se baviti nakon odlaska u mirovinu.

- Najprije, da se razumijemo, ostajem biskup, zar ne? Biskup je do kraja života, baš kao i svećenik. Drugo, ostajem u Hvaru. Kao čovjek koji se značajno posvetio Crkvi, a 77. mi je godina, najviše sam proživio u Hvaru, pa je nekako logično da tu i ostanem do kraja života.

Čime ću se ubuduće baviti? Sve ovisi od toga kakvo će biti moje zdravstveno stanje. Želio bih pisati, želio bih neke stvari koje sam zapamtio staviti na papir. Volio bih napisati, jer imam već dosta toga, moj ratni dnevnik koji bi zasigurno bio interesantan – odgovorio je tada biskup Štambuk.

Živo se sjećamo i proslave njegove 30. obljetnice biskupskog ređenja u hvarskoj katedrali 2019. godine. Tada je propovijedao šibenski biskup u miru Ante Ivas koji je apostrofirao trnovit životni put biskupa Štambuka, jer je shvatio da je po svome imenu, krštenju i svećeništvu pozvan biti u službi Božje slobode i da mu cijeli život treba biti u znaku borbe za slobodu.

A to, naravno nije nimalo lako ni u Crkvi, ni izvan nje, pa je biskup Slobodan u ozračju hrvatske slobode vrlo često citirao pjesnika "...jer više nisam putnik bez karte. Ja imam svoj brod, svog Boga, svoj svod i svoj rod!" Zato "Oj, budi svoj!"

Dalmatinski otoci zavijeni tugom zbog odlaska omiljenog biskupa koji nije mirovao, gimnaziju i studij teologije završio je u Zadru

Žitelji otoka Hvara, Brača i Visa, a naročito pripadnici klera, u srijedu su s tugom primili vijest da je nakon duge i teške bolesti preminuo mons. Slobodan Štambuk, trootočni biskup u miru, okrijepljen svetim sakramentima u svećeničkom domu u Splitu u 83. godini života, 57. godini svećeništva i 34. godini biskupstva.

Omiljeni biskup rođen je 1. ožujka 1941. u Selcima na otoku Braču, od oca Josipa i majke Nedjeljke-Perice rođene Jakšić. Gimnaziju i studij teologije završio je u Zadru.

Za svećenika Hvarske biskupije zaređen je 3. srpnja 1966. u rodnim Selcima. Od 1966. do 1968. bio je župnik u Pražnicima i Gornjem Humcu na Braču, od 1968. do 1971. župnik u Vrisniku i Pitvama na Hvaru, od 1971. do 1978. župnik u Vrbanju i Svirčima na Hvaru, od 1978. do 1981. župnik u Nerežišćima, te od 1981. do 1989. župnik u Supetru i Škripu, dok je od 1979. do 1989. uređivao i list "Bračka Crkva".
