Na današnji dan, 2005. godine, umro je Ivan Pavao II (Karol Wojtyla), za mnoge omiljeni papa. Iako star i onemoćao, 264. nasljednik apostola Petra, do samoga kraja zračio je dobrotom i nemjerljivom karizmom

Uzrok smrti bio je zastoj srca usred hipotenzije i nedovoljne cirkulacije izazvane septičkim šokom, uzrokovanim ranijom urinarnom infekcijom. Posljednje papine riječi bile su na poljskom jeziku i glasile su: “Pozwólcie mi odejść do domu Ojca” (Dozvolite mi otići u Očev dom).

Nekoliko dana ranije, papa je primio bolesničko pomazanje, a na Trgu sv. Petra u Rimu ispratili su ga desetci tisuća vjernika. Pokopan je ispod crkve sv. Petra i to ne u sarkofagu, već direktno u zemlju, kako je zatražio u svojoj oporuci. Na njegovom sprovodu okupio se najveći broj stranih državnika u povijesti.

Ivan Pavao II proglašen je blaženim 1. svibnja 2011., a svetim 27. travnja 2014., na Nedjelju Božanskog milosrđa. U razdoblju od 1978. do 2005. papa Ivan Pavao II povijest je obilježio na razne načine.

Osim što je bio najmlađi papa novijeg doba, njegov pontifikat treći je najdulji u povijesti, a nakon više stoljeća bio je prvi papa koji nije imao talijansko porijeklo već slavensko. Za mnoge on je jedna od najvećih duhovnih ličnosti 20. stoljeća. Zalagao se za jedinstvo kršćana, ali i za otvorenost prema drugim religijama

Kao izraziti mirotvorac zalagao se za rješavanje sukoba mirnim putem, a posebno je zagovarao ekumenizam, dijalog i toleranciju među narodima, religijama i kulturama.

Ivan Pavao II ili 'Papa putnik' kako su ga voljeli nazivati, u 27 godina svoga pontifikata posjetio je 130 zemalja, a za svoje jubilarno stoto putovanje odabrao je Hrvatsku.

Svetima je proglasio Leopolda Mandića i Marka Križevčanina, a blaženima Alojzija Stepinca, Ivana Merza i Mariju Petković.

Na današnji dan, 2005. godine, umro je Ivan Pavao II (Karol Wojtyla), za mnoge omiljeni papa. Iako star i onemoćao, 264. nasljednik apostola Petra, do samoga kraja zračio je dobrotom i nemjerljivom karizmom

Uzrok smrti bio je zastoj srca usred hipotenzije i nedovoljne cirkulacije izazvane septičkim šokom, uzrokovanim ranijom urinarnom infekcijom. Posljednje papine riječi bile su na poljskom jeziku i glasile su: “Pozwólcie mi odejść do domu Ojca” (Dozvolite mi otići u Očev dom).

Nekoliko dana ranije, papa je primio bolesničko pomazanje, a na Trgu sv. Petra u Rimu ispratili su ga desetci tisuća vjernika. Pokopan je ispod crkve sv. Petra i to ne u sarkofagu, već direktno u zemlju, kako je zatražio u svojoj oporuci. Na njegovom sprovodu okupio se najveći broj stranih državnika u povijesti.

Ivan Pavao II proglašen je blaženim 1. svibnja 2011., a svetim 27. travnja 2014., na Nedjelju Božanskog milosrđa. U razdoblju od 1978. do 2005. papa Ivan Pavao II povijest je obilježio na razne načine.

Osim što je bio najmlađi papa novijeg doba, njegov pontifikat treći je najdulji u povijesti, a nakon više stoljeća bio je prvi papa koji nije imao talijansko porijeklo već slavensko. Za mnoge on je jedna od najvećih duhovnih ličnosti 20. stoljeća. Zalagao se za jedinstvo kršćana, ali i za otvorenost prema drugim religijama

Kao izraziti mirotvorac zalagao se za rješavanje sukoba mirnim putem, a posebno je zagovarao ekumenizam, dijalog i toleranciju među narodima, religijama i kulturama.

Ivan Pavao II ili 'Papa putnik' kako su ga voljeli nazivati, u 27 godina svoga pontifikata posjetio je 130 zemalja, a za svoje jubilarno stoto putovanje odabrao je Hrvatsku.

Svetima je proglasio Leopolda Mandića i Marka Križevčanina, a blaženima Alojzija Stepinca, Ivana Merza i Mariju Petković.

Uzrok smrti bio je zastoj srca usred hipotenzije i nedovoljne cirkulacije izazvane septičkim šokom, uzrokovanim ranijom urinarnom infekcijom. Posljednje papine riječi bile su na poljskom jeziku i glasile su: “Pozwólcie mi odejść do domu Ojca” (Dozvolite mi otići u Očev dom).

Nekoliko dana ranije, papa je primio bolesničko pomazanje, a na Trgu sv. Petra u Rimu ispratili su ga desetci tisuća vjernika. Pokopan je ispod crkve sv. Petra i to ne u sarkofagu, već direktno u zemlju, kako je zatražio u svojoj oporuci. Na njegovom sprovodu okupio se najveći broj stranih državnika u povijesti.

Ivan Pavao II proglašen je blaženim 1. svibnja 2011., a svetim 27. travnja 2014., na Nedjelju Božanskog milosrđa. U razdoblju od 1978. do 2005. papa Ivan Pavao II povijest je obilježio na razne načine.

Osim što je bio najmlađi papa novijeg doba, njegov pontifikat treći je najdulji u povijesti, a nakon više stoljeća bio je prvi papa koji nije imao talijansko porijeklo već slavensko. Za mnoge on je jedna od najvećih duhovnih ličnosti 20. stoljeća. Zalagao se za jedinstvo kršćana, ali i za otvorenost prema drugim religijama

Kao izraziti mirotvorac zalagao se za rješavanje sukoba mirnim putem, a posebno je zagovarao ekumenizam, dijalog i toleranciju među narodima, religijama i kulturama.

Ivan Pavao II ili 'Papa putnik' kako su ga voljeli nazivati, u 27 godina svoga pontifikata posjetio je 130 zemalja, a za svoje jubilarno stoto putovanje odabrao je Hrvatsku.

Svetima je proglasio Leopolda Mandića i Marka Križevčanina, a blaženima Alojzija Stepinca, Ivana Merza i Mariju Petković.
