Majmunske boginje mogu se širiti i prije nego što se pojave simptomi, objavili su britanski istraživači.

Prethodno se smatralo da majmunske boginje gotovo u potpunosti prenose osobe koje su već bile bolesne.

Majmunske boginje, relativno blaga virusna bolest koja je endemska u nekoliko zemalja zapadne i središnje Afrike, eksplodirala je diljem svijeta ranije ove godine, s izbijanjem u desecima zemalja u kojima se nikad prije nije pojavila.

Od tada je bilo gotovo 78.000 potvrđenih slučajeva i 36 smrtnih slučajeva, prema američkim centrima za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti. Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija objavila je ovoga tjedna da epidemija još uvijek predstavlja globalnu zdravstvenu opasnost.

Poznato je da se virus širi bliskim kontaktom i uzrokuje simptome uključujući vrućicu, bolove u tijelu i često bolne kožne lezije ispunjene gnojem.

Kako bi saznali više o tome kako se majmunske boginje prenose u Britaniji, ekipa stručnjaka iz Agencije za zdravstvenu sigurnost Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva upotrijebila je podatke o rutinskom nadzoru i praćenju kontakata za 2.746 ljudi u zemlji koji su bili pozitivni između svibnja i kolovoza.

Njihova prosječna dob bila je 38 godina, a 95% pacijenata izjavilo je da su homoseksualci, biseksualci ili muškarci koji imaju spolne odnose s muškarcima.

Koristeći dva statistička modela, otkrili su da je srednji serijski interval bio kraći od srednjeg razdoblja inkubacije. To ukazuje da se "znatan" prijenos dogodio prije pojave ili otkrivanja simptoma, napisali su istraživači u radu objavljenom u British Medical Journalu.

Četiri dana bilo je najduže razdoblje prije pojave simptoma u kojem je otkriven prijenos, a do 53% prijenosa moglo se dogoditi prije nego su simptomi počeli.

Studija postavlja pitanja o borbi protiv majmunskih boginja u cijelom svijetu, uključujući pitanje je li dovoljno tražiti od ljudi da se izoliraju kada se pojave simptomi da se zaustavi širenje virusa.

Mnoge su bogatije zemlje cijepile visokorizične populacije kako bi suzbile izbijanje zaraze, ali cjepiva su ograničena i nema ih u Africi.

Majmunske boginje mogu se širiti i prije nego što se pojave simptomi, objavili su britanski istraživači.

Prethodno se smatralo da majmunske boginje gotovo u potpunosti prenose osobe koje su već bile bolesne.

Majmunske boginje, relativno blaga virusna bolest koja je endemska u nekoliko zemalja zapadne i središnje Afrike, eksplodirala je diljem svijeta ranije ove godine, s izbijanjem u desecima zemalja u kojima se nikad prije nije pojavila.

Od tada je bilo gotovo 78.000 potvrđenih slučajeva i 36 smrtnih slučajeva, prema američkim centrima za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti. Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija objavila je ovoga tjedna da epidemija još uvijek predstavlja globalnu zdravstvenu opasnost.

Poznato je da se virus širi bliskim kontaktom i uzrokuje simptome uključujući vrućicu, bolove u tijelu i često bolne kožne lezije ispunjene gnojem.

Kako bi saznali više o tome kako se majmunske boginje prenose u Britaniji, ekipa stručnjaka iz Agencije za zdravstvenu sigurnost Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva upotrijebila je podatke o rutinskom nadzoru i praćenju kontakata za 2.746 ljudi u zemlji koji su bili pozitivni između svibnja i kolovoza.

Njihova prosječna dob bila je 38 godina, a 95% pacijenata izjavilo je da su homoseksualci, biseksualci ili muškarci koji imaju spolne odnose s muškarcima.

Koristeći dva statistička modela, otkrili su da je srednji serijski interval bio kraći od srednjeg razdoblja inkubacije. To ukazuje da se "znatan" prijenos dogodio prije pojave ili otkrivanja simptoma, napisali su istraživači u radu objavljenom u British Medical Journalu.

Četiri dana bilo je najduže razdoblje prije pojave simptoma u kojem je otkriven prijenos, a do 53% prijenosa moglo se dogoditi prije nego su simptomi počeli.

Studija postavlja pitanja o borbi protiv majmunskih boginja u cijelom svijetu, uključujući pitanje je li dovoljno tražiti od ljudi da se izoliraju kada se pojave simptomi da se zaustavi širenje virusa.

Mnoge su bogatije zemlje cijepile visokorizične populacije kako bi suzbile izbijanje zaraze, ali cjepiva su ograničena i nema ih u Africi.

Istraživanje potvrdilo da se majmunske boginje mogu širiti i prije pojave simptoma

Majmunske boginje mogu se širiti i prije nego što se pojave simptomi, objavili su britanski istraživači.

Prethodno se smatralo da majmunske boginje gotovo u potpunosti prenose osobe koje su već bile bolesne.

Majmunske boginje, relativno blaga virusna bolest koja je endemska u nekoliko zemalja zapadne i središnje Afrike, eksplodirala je diljem svijeta ranije ove godine, s izbijanjem u desecima zemalja u kojima se nikad prije nije pojavila.

Od tada je bilo gotovo 78.000 potvrđenih slučajeva i 36 smrtnih slučajeva, prema američkim centrima za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti. Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija objavila je ovoga tjedna da epidemija još uvijek predstavlja globalnu zdravstvenu opasnost.
