Astrazeneca započela je povlačenje svog cjepiva protiv covida-19 diljem svijeta zbog "viška dostupnih ažuriranih cjepiva" koja su usmjerena na nove varijante virusa, javlja britanski Guardian.

Objava je uslijedila nakon što je ta farmaceutska tvrtka u ožujku dobrovoljno povukla svoje odobrenje za stavljanje lijeka u promet u Europskoj uniji, prenosi N1.

Jučer je Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) objavila da cjepivo više nije odobreno za uporabu. U priopćenju za javnost AstraZeneca je rekla da je odluka donesena jer sada postoji niz novih dostupnih cjepiva koja su prilagođena novim varijantama koronavirusa. To je dovelo do pada potražnje za cjepivom AstraZeneca, koje se više ne proizvodi niti isporučuje.

“Prema neovisnim procjenama, više od 6.5 milijuna života spašeno je samo u prvoj godini korištenja, a diljem svijeta isporučeno je preko 3 milijarde doza”, stoji u priopćenju AstraZenece.

“Naše napore prepoznale su vlade diljem svijeta i naširoko se smatraju ključnom komponentom okončanja pandemije. Sada ćemo raditi s regulatorima i našim partnerima kako bismo se uskladili na jasnom putu naprijed te zaključili ovo poglavlje i značajan doprinos borbi protiv pandemije covida-19”, navodi farmaceutska kompanija.

Druge zemlje već su prestale isporučivati cjepivo. Ono nije dostupno za upotrebu u Australiji od ožujka 2023., iako je njegova upotreba već bila ukinuta od lipnja 2021. zbog široke dostupnosti novijih cjepiva.

AstraZeneca je 2021. godine promijenila naziv svog cjepiva protiv covida u Vaxzevria. Cjepivo je odobreno za upotrebu kod osoba u dobi od 18 godina i starijih, a daje se kao dvije injekcije, obično u mišić nadlaktice, u razmaku od otprilike tri mjeseca. Neke su ga zemlje također koristile kao dopunu, prenosi N1.

Vaxzevria se sastoji od drugog virusa iz obitelji adenovirusa modificiranog da sadrži gen za stvaranje proteina iz SARS-CoV-2, virusa koji uzrokuje covid-19. Cjepivo ne sadrži sam virus i ne može izazvati zarazu.

Iako se cjepivo općenito pokazalo sigurnim i učinkovitim, nosilo je rizik od rijetke, ali ozbiljne nuspojave poznate kao tromboza s trombocitopenijom ili TTS. Rijedak sindrom javio se kod otprilike dvije do tri osobe na 100.000 koji su bili cijepljeni cjepivom Vaxzevria.

Catherine Bennett s katedre za epidemiologiju na Sveučilištu Deakin u Australiji rekla je da je cjepivo odigralo ključnu ulogu u svjetskoj borbi protiv virusa, osobito u ranim danima pandemije kada je bilo dostupno ograničeno cjepivo.

“Spasilo je milijune života i to se ne smije zaboraviti”, rekla je.

“Bio je to stvarno važan dio početnog globalnog odgovora. Međutim, ciljao je na početne varijante. Sada smo prešli u lanac cjepiva gdje imamo dostupne proizvode koji hvataju nove varijante. Došlo je i do promjene u računici rizika s obzirom na to da je populacija mnogo zaštićenija, a iako covid i dalje uzrokuje smrt, općenito smo manje osjetljivi na bolest”, dodala je.

Najnoviji savjet o cjepivu protiv covida-19 koji je izdala Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija u travnju kaže da cjepiva trebaju biti usmjerene na varijantu virusa JN.1, koja istiskuje postojeće varijante loze XBB.

Astrazeneca započela je povlačenje svog cjepiva protiv covida-19 diljem svijeta zbog "viška dostupnih ažuriranih cjepiva" koja su usmjerena na nove varijante virusa, javlja britanski Guardian.

Objava je uslijedila nakon što je ta farmaceutska tvrtka u ožujku dobrovoljno povukla svoje odobrenje za stavljanje lijeka u promet u Europskoj uniji, prenosi N1.

Jučer je Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) objavila da cjepivo više nije odobreno za uporabu. U priopćenju za javnost AstraZeneca je rekla da je odluka donesena jer sada postoji niz novih dostupnih cjepiva koja su prilagođena novim varijantama koronavirusa. To je dovelo do pada potražnje za cjepivom AstraZeneca, koje se više ne proizvodi niti isporučuje.

“Prema neovisnim procjenama, više od 6.5 milijuna života spašeno je samo u prvoj godini korištenja, a diljem svijeta isporučeno je preko 3 milijarde doza”, stoji u priopćenju AstraZenece.

Druge zemlje već su prestale isporučivati cjepivo. Ono nije dostupno za upotrebu u Australiji od ožujka 2023., iako je njegova upotreba već bila ukinuta od lipnja 2021. zbog široke dostupnosti novijih cjepiva.

AstraZeneca je 2021. godine promijenila naziv svog cjepiva protiv covida u Vaxzevria. Cjepivo je odobreno za upotrebu kod osoba u dobi od 18 godina i starijih, a daje se kao dvije injekcije, obično u mišić nadlaktice, u razmaku od otprilike tri mjeseca. Neke su ga zemlje također koristile kao dopunu, prenosi N1.

Vaxzevria se sastoji od drugog virusa iz obitelji adenovirusa modificiranog da sadrži gen za stvaranje proteina iz SARS-CoV-2, virusa koji uzrokuje covid-19. Cjepivo ne sadrži sam virus i ne može izazvati zarazu.

Iako se cjepivo općenito pokazalo sigurnim i učinkovitim, nosilo je rizik od rijetke, ali ozbiljne nuspojave poznate kao tromboza s trombocitopenijom ili TTS. Rijedak sindrom javio se kod otprilike dvije do tri osobe na 100.000 koji su bili cijepljeni cjepivom Vaxzevria.

Catherine Bennett s katedre za epidemiologiju na Sveučilištu Deakin u Australiji rekla je da je cjepivo odigralo ključnu ulogu u svjetskoj borbi protiv virusa, osobito u ranim danima pandemije kada je bilo dostupno ograničeno cjepivo.

“Spasilo je milijune života i to se ne smije zaboraviti”, rekla je.

“Bio je to stvarno važan dio početnog globalnog odgovora. Međutim, ciljao je na početne varijante. Sada smo prešli u lanac cjepiva gdje imamo dostupne proizvode koji hvataju nove varijante. Došlo je i do promjene u računici rizika s obzirom na to da je populacija mnogo zaštićenija, a iako covid i dalje uzrokuje smrt, općenito smo manje osjetljivi na bolest”, dodala je.

Najnoviji savjet o cjepivu protiv covida-19 koji je izdala Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija u travnju kaže da cjepiva trebaju biti usmjerene na varijantu virusa JN.1, koja istiskuje postojeće varijante loze XBB.

Astrazeneca započela je povlačenje svog cjepiva protiv covida-19 diljem svijeta zbog "viška dostupnih ažuriranih cjepiva" koja su usmjerena na nove varijante virusa, javlja britanski Guardian.

Objava je uslijedila nakon što je ta farmaceutska tvrtka u ožujku dobrovoljno povukla svoje odobrenje za stavljanje lijeka u promet u Europskoj uniji, prenosi N1.

Jučer je Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) objavila da cjepivo više nije odobreno za uporabu. U priopćenju za javnost AstraZeneca je rekla da je odluka donesena jer sada postoji niz novih dostupnih cjepiva koja su prilagođena novim varijantama koronavirusa. To je dovelo do pada potražnje za cjepivom AstraZeneca, koje se više ne proizvodi niti isporučuje.

“Prema neovisnim procjenama, više od 6.5 milijuna života spašeno je samo u prvoj godini korištenja, a diljem svijeta isporučeno je preko 3 milijarde doza”, stoji u priopćenju AstraZenece.

“Naše napore prepoznale su vlade diljem svijeta i naširoko se smatraju ključnom komponentom okončanja pandemije. Sada ćemo raditi s regulatorima i našim partnerima kako bismo se uskladili na jasnom putu naprijed te zaključili ovo poglavlje i značajan doprinos borbi protiv pandemije covida-19”, navodi farmaceutska kompanija.
