Struje Atlantskog oceana opasno su oslabile, a to je "izrazito loša vijest za klimatski sustav i čovječanstvo", stoji u istraživanju objavljenom u znanstvenom časopisu Science Advances.

Koristeći računalne modele i arhivske podatke, istraživači su razvili indikatore koji ih na vrijeme mogu upozoriti na potencijalni slom Amoca, cirkulacije ogromnog sustava atlantskih oceanskih struja, inače ključne komponenta u zaštiti od klimatskih promjena. Znanstvenici svjedoče kako su ostali šokirani rezultatima, prenosi Jutarnji.

Naime, modeli prognoziraju kako ćemo posljedice osjetiti puno ranije no što je itko mislio, piše Guardian. Na putu smo prema promjeni strujanja oceana kakva nije zabilježena više od 10.000 godina i imala bi strašne implikacije za velike dijelove svijeta, upozoravaju znanstvenici.

Što je Amoc?

Amoc, je sustav snažnih oceanskih struja, koji prenosi bitan udio toplinske energije iz tropskih zemljopisnih širina i južne polutke na sjeverni Atlantski ocean, gdje se toplina prenosi u atmosferu.Taj proces znatno usporava utjecaj globalnog zagrijavanja uzrokovanog ljudskim djelovanjem.

Kada bi on dodatno oslabio, razina mora u Atlantiku porasla bi za metar, poplavivši mnoge gradove blizu oceana. Južna bi hemisfera postala toplija, a Europa se dramatično ohladila i imala bi manje oborina. Kvaka je u tome što bi promjene nastupile 10 puta brže nego sada i učinile prilagodbu za život gotovo nemogućom.

Amoc je prvenstveno narušen ubrzanim topljenjem grenlandskih ledenjaka i arktičkih ledenih ploča, a od 1950. do danas je oslabio 15 posto i nalazi se u najslabijem stanju u više od tisućljeća, pokazalo je nekoliko istraživanja.

Do sada nije postojao konsenzus o tome koliko je situacija ozbiljna. Jedno istraživanje od prošle godine, temeljeno na promjenama u temperaturama površine mora, sugeriralo je da bi se točka preokreta mogla dogoditi između 2025. i 2095. Britanski meteorološki ured poručio je da su velike i brze promjene u Amocu "vrlo malo vjerojatne" u 21. stoljeću.

No gore spomenuto, posljednje istraživanje, provedeno u južnom dijelu Atlantskog oceana, između Cape Towna i Buenos Airesa, otkriva kako je iznenadni kolaps sustava moguć bilo koji trenutak u narednih sto godina.

- Nemamo dovoljno podataka - hoće li se to dogoditi sljedeće godine ili u nadolazećem stoljeću, ali kada se dogodi, promjene su nepovratne. Bit će razorno. Klimatske promjene moramo shvatiti ozbiljno - poručio je René van Westen sa sveučilišta u nizozemskom Utrechtu, koji je vodio istraživanje.

Struje Atlantskog oceana opasno su oslabile, a to je "izrazito loša vijest za klimatski sustav i čovječanstvo", stoji u istraživanju objavljenom u znanstvenom časopisu Science Advances.

Koristeći računalne modele i arhivske podatke, istraživači su razvili indikatore koji ih na vrijeme mogu upozoriti na potencijalni slom Amoca, cirkulacije ogromnog sustava atlantskih oceanskih struja, inače ključne komponenta u zaštiti od klimatskih promjena. Znanstvenici svjedoče kako su ostali šokirani rezultatima, prenosi Jutarnji.

Naime, modeli prognoziraju kako ćemo posljedice osjetiti puno ranije no što je itko mislio, piše Guardian. Na putu smo prema promjeni strujanja oceana kakva nije zabilježena više od 10.000 godina i imala bi strašne implikacije za velike dijelove svijeta, upozoravaju znanstvenici.

Što je Amoc?

Amoc, je sustav snažnih oceanskih struja, koji prenosi bitan udio toplinske energije iz tropskih zemljopisnih širina i južne polutke na sjeverni Atlantski ocean, gdje se toplina prenosi u atmosferu.Taj proces znatno usporava utjecaj globalnog zagrijavanja uzrokovanog ljudskim djelovanjem.

Kada bi on dodatno oslabio, razina mora u Atlantiku porasla bi za metar, poplavivši mnoge gradove blizu oceana. Južna bi hemisfera postala toplija, a Europa se dramatično ohladila i imala bi manje oborina. Kvaka je u tome što bi promjene nastupile 10 puta brže nego sada i učinile prilagodbu za život gotovo nemogućom.

Amoc je prvenstveno narušen ubrzanim topljenjem grenlandskih ledenjaka i arktičkih ledenih ploča, a od 1950. do danas je oslabio 15 posto i nalazi se u najslabijem stanju u više od tisućljeća, pokazalo je nekoliko istraživanja.

Do sada nije postojao konsenzus o tome koliko je situacija ozbiljna. Struje Atlantskog oceana opasno su oslabile, a to je "izrazito loša vijest za klimatski sustav i čovječanstvo", stoji u istraživanju objavljenom u znanstvenom časopisu Science Advances.

Koristeći računalne modele i arhivske podatke, istraživači su razvili indikatore koji ih na vrijeme mogu upozoriti na potencijalni slom Amoca, cirkulacije ogromnog sustava atlantskih oceanskih struja, inače ključne komponenta u zaštiti od klimatskih promjena. Znanstvenici svjedoče kako su ostali šokirani rezultatima, prenosi Jutarnji.

Naime, modeli prognoziraju kako ćemo posljedice osjetiti puno ranije no što je itko mislio, piše Guardian. Na putu smo prema promjeni strujanja oceana kakva nije zabilježena više od 10.000 godina i imala bi strašne implikacije za velike dijelove svijeta, upozoravaju znanstvenici.

Što je Amoc?

Amoc, je sustav snažnih oceanskih struja, koji prenosi bitan udio toplinske energije iz tropskih zemljopisnih širina i južne polutke na sjeverni Atlantski ocean, gdje se toplina prenosi u atmosferu.Taj proces znatno usporava utjecaj globalnog zagrijavanja uzrokovanog ljudskim djelovanjem.

Kada bi on dodatno oslabio, razina mora u Atlantiku porasla bi za metar, poplavivši mnoge gradove blizu oceana. Južna bi hemisfera postala toplija, a Europa se dramatično ohladila i imala bi manje oborina. Kvaka je u tome što bi promjene nastupile 10 puta brže nego sada i učinile prilagodbu za život gotovo nemogućom.

Amoc je prvenstveno narušen ubrzanim topljenjem grenlandskih ledenjaka i arktičkih ledenih ploča, a od 1950. do danas je oslabio 15 posto i nalazi se u najslabijem stanju u više od tisućljeća, pokazalo je nekoliko istraživanja.

Do sada nije postojao konsenzus o tome koliko je situacija ozbiljna.
