Mora zaista vrve neobičnim stvorenjima, a jedno je upravo otkriveno i oduševilo je znanstvenike. Ono je, naime, besmrtno i može unedogled izbjegavati starenje, jer se samo od sebe regenerira. I to ne dio po dio, nego cijelo tijelo, piše Newsweek.

Stvorenje imena Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus i riječ je o sićušnom beskralješnjaku koji živi na oklopu rakova, stoji u studiji objavljenoj u časopisu Cell Reports.

- Studije poput ove, koje istražuju biologiju neobičnih organizama, otkrivaju koliko su biološki procesi univerzalni i koliko tek trebamo razumjeti njihove funkcije, odnose i evoluciju. Takva otkrića imaju veliki potencijal za pružanje novih uvida u ljudsku biologiju - rekao je u priopćenju Charles Rotimi, koautor rada.

Otprije znanstvenici znaju da je ovaj beskralježnjak poseban zbog matičnih stanica koje koristi za regeneraciju tkiva. One su se sposobne transformirati u bilo koju vrstu tjelesnih stanica, a to ih čini sposobnima za uzgoj novih dijelova tijela. Ljudi te stanice mogu koristiti samo tijekom prve faze razvoja, dok ova životinja to može tijekom cijelog života.

Istraživači su otkrili Hydractinia pohranjuje svoje matične stanice u donju polovicu svog tijela, ali kada su joj odrezali usta, iz njih je izraslo potpuno novo tijelo, što ukazuje da je životinja mogla generirati nove matične stanice. Kako bi istražili kako se te matične stanice pokreću, autori su u radu opisali kako su skenirali genom Hydractinije u potrazi za genima povezanima sa starenjem.

Otkrili su da je od tri Hydractinijina gena povezana sa starenjem, jedan bio "uključen" u stanicama blizu mjesta reza u ustima. Kada je ovaj gen izbrisan iz genoma, životinja se nije mogla regenerirati, što ukazuje da joj je potrebno starenje kako bi regenerirala nove matične stanice.

Ne treba ni reći da je situacija kod ove životinje posve drugačija nego kod naše vrste.

- Većina studija o starenju povezana je s kroničnom upalom, rakom i bolestima povezanima sa starenjem. Obično kod ljudi stare stanice ostaju stare, a te stanice uzrokuju kroničnu upalu i potiču starenje u susjednim stanicama. Od životinja poput Hydractinije možemo naučiti kako starenje može biti korisno i proširiti naše razumijevanje starenja i ozdravljenja - rekao je Andy Baxevanis, koautor studije.

Znanstvenici su do sad otkrili kako sposobnost regeneracije kod 35 vrsta životinja. Neke su životinje čak potpuno imune na starenje, poput hidre i "besmrtne meduze" Turritopsis dohrnii, prenosi VauMijau.

Mora zaista vrve neobičnim stvorenjima, a jedno je upravo otkriveno i oduševilo je znanstvenike. Ono je, naime, besmrtno i može unedogled izbjegavati starenje, jer se samo od sebe regenerira. I to ne dio po dio, nego cijelo tijelo, piše Newsweek.

Stvorenje imena Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus i riječ je o sićušnom beskralješnjaku koji živi na oklopu rakova, stoji u studiji objavljenoj u časopisu Cell Reports.

- Studije poput ove, koje istražuju biologiju neobičnih organizama, otkrivaju koliko su biološki procesi univerzalni i koliko tek trebamo razumjeti njihove funkcije, odnose i evoluciju. Takva otkrića imaju veliki potencijal za pružanje novih uvida u ljudsku biologiju - rekao je u priopćenju Charles Rotimi, koautor rada.

Otprije znanstvenici znaju da je ovaj beskralježnjak poseban zbog matičnih stanica koje koristi za regeneraciju tkiva. One su se sposobne transformirati u bilo koju vrstu tjelesnih stanica, a to ih čini sposobnima za uzgoj novih dijelova tijela. Ljudi te stanice mogu koristiti samo tijekom prve faze razvoja, dok ova životinja to može tijekom cijelog života.

- Većina studija o starenju povezana je s kroničnom upalom, rakom i bolestima povezanima sa starenjem. Obično kod ljudi stare stanice ostaju stare, a te stanice uzrokuju kroničnu upalu i potiču starenje u susjednim stanicama. Mora zaista vrve neobičnim stvorenjima, a jedno je upravo otkriveno i oduševilo je znanstvenike. Ono je, naime, besmrtno i može unedogled izbjegavati starenje, jer se samo od sebe regenerira. I to ne dio po dio, nego cijelo tijelo, piše Newsweek.

Stvorenje imena Hydractinia symbiolongicarpus i riječ je o sićušnom beskralješnjaku koji živi na oklopu rakova, stoji u studiji objavljenoj u časopisu Cell Reports.

- Studije poput ove, koje istražuju biologiju neobičnih organizama, otkrivaju koliko su biološki procesi univerzalni i koliko tek trebamo razumjeti njihove funkcije, odnose i evoluciju. Takva otkrića imaju veliki potencijal za pružanje novih uvida u ljudsku biologiju - rekao je u priopćenju Charles Rotimi, koautor rada.

Otprije znanstvenici znaju da je ovaj beskralježnjak poseban zbog matičnih stanica koje koristi za regeneraciju tkiva. One su se sposobne transformirati u bilo koju vrstu tjelesnih stanica, a to ih čini sposobnima za uzgoj novih dijelova tijela.
