U zadnje vrijeme često se govori o problemu plastike u moru, ali nekako se to provlači više kao nešto apstraktno jer imam osjećaj da ljudi, uključujući mene, nisu baš svjesni svega toga pa me zanima neki konkretni podatak o tome kako ta morska plastika može djelovati na nas.

Ako baš hoćete podatke, recimo da se na godišnjoj razini proizvede oko 300 milijuna tona različite plastike. Budući da je teško uopće zamisliti što ta brojka znači, recimo da je procijenjeno da to odgovara težini svih odraslih ljudi koji trenutno žive na našem planetu. Daljnji podaci govore da je više plastike proizvedeno u zadnjih 10 godina nego u cijelom stoljeću prije toga. Svi znamo da je plastika materijal koji je skoro neuništiv, posebice ako to gledamo kroz prizmu jednog prosječnog ljudskog vijeka, te se ne treba čuditi podatku da je sva plastika koja je do ovog trenutka proizvedena i dalje prisutna negdje u našem okolišu.

Najviše proizvedene plastike, oko 40%, koristi se za raznoraznu ambalažu, a dodatno se proizvede oko 500 milijardi plastičnih kesa. Kad već govorimo o vrećicama, recimo i da se izračunalo da je prosječno vrijeme korištenja tek oko 15 minuta te da se svake minute na svijetu koristi oko milijun komada. Za one koji vole piti vodu iz plastičnih boca navedimo i podatak da su istraživanja pokazala kako je većina vode iz slavine kvalitetom bolja od bilo koje buteljirane, a posebice se naglašava podatak da je njezina cijena 500 puta veća. Najveći problem je u tome što je većina te plastike namijenjena za jednokratnu upotrebu, što znači da se jedanput upotrijebi i zatim baca, od čega najveći dio, oko 80%, završi u moru. Kad sva ta plastika dođe u more, tijekom jedne godine direktno uzrokuje smrt oko milijun morskih ptica i oko 100 tisuća morskih sisavaca.

Vezivanje toksina

Preskočimo ovaj dio o utjecaju plastike na morske organizme pa krenimo s naglašavanjem problema morske plastike za ljude. Plastika koja završi kao otpad u moru, a procjena je da udio plastike u cjelokupnom otpadu iznosi oko 80%, se utjecajem sunca i valova raspada na manje komadiće koji se zovu mikro i makroplastika. Veličina koja nam služi za razlikovanje mikro i makroplastike je 5 mm, tj. sve čestice iznad te veličine spadaju u makroplastiku, a manje u mikroplastiku. Od te dvije grupe mikroplastika, u koju uz raspadnute čestice spadaju i ostaci iz tekstilne i kozmetičke industrije, je umnogome problematičnija.

Naime, te male čestice u moru privlače različite toksine koji mogu uzrokovati različite bolesti u ljudskoj populaciji. Toksini su otpad različitih industrija i poljoprivrede, ali more je nekako uspijevalo otopiti ih i učiniti neopasnima za ljudsko zdravlje. Sa sve većom količinom mikroplastike u moru, ti se toksini spajaju s plastičnim česticama i na neki način postaju plutajuće toksične pilule. Nadalje, te toksične pilule ulaze u hranidbeni lanac brojnih morskih organizama na različitim razinama te u nekom trenutku u nekom organizmu postaju sve više koncentrirane, a time i opasnije. Na kraju, s obzirom na to da je čovjek na vrhu hranidbenog lanca, završavaju u nama i rezultat može biti katastrofalan.

Probavni organi

Kad kažem može to kažem zato jer se, s obzirom na relativno nova saznanja, potpuni utjecaj mikroplastike na ljudsko zdravlje još ne zna. Znamo da kod riba uslijed toksičnog djelovanja mikroplastike može doći do poremećaja u imunološkom sustavu, abnormalnog rasta, pojave neurotoksičnih bolesti te poremećaja u ponašanju. Sve se to prenosi i na čovjeka koji jede ribu, a čak se kao veći problem spominju školjke koje filtriraju more, jer za razliku od riba, prilikom konzumacije školjki jedemo i njihove probavne organe.

Prema nekim istraživanjima prosječni ljubitelj dagnji tijekom godine pojede više od 11 tisuća čestica plastike samo iz tog izvora. Trenutno se zna da mikroplastika kod čovjeka može dovesti i do poremećaja na staničnoj strukturi, što je ogroman problem jer se ne znaju posljedice takvog utjecaja. Poseban problem je i struktura plastike, jer mi plastikom zovemo različite kemikalije kojih ima oko 10 tisuća različitih vrsta, a sasvim sigurno se zna da barem 2400 njih ima štetan utjecaj na čovjeka.

Da zaključimo: plastika je svuda oko nas, i jasno je da će negativno utjecati na ljude, a ono što mi moramo uraditi je smanjiti njezinu koncentraciju svakodnevnim angažmanom, jer nitko to neće raditi umjesto nas samih.

U zadnje vrijeme često se govori o problemu plastike u moru, ali nekako se to provlači više kao nešto apstraktno jer imam osjećaj da ljudi, uključujući mene, nisu baš svjesni svega toga pa me zanima neki konkretni podatak o tome kako ta morska plastika može djelovati na nas.

Ako baš hoćete podatke, recimo da se na godišnjoj razini proizvede oko 300 milijuna tona različite plastike. Budući da je teško uopće zamisliti što ta brojka znači, recimo da je procijenjeno da to odgovara težini svih odraslih ljudi koji trenutno žive na našem planetu. Daljnji podaci govore da je više plastike proizvedeno u zadnjih 10 godina nego u cijelom stoljeću prije toga. Svi znamo da je plastika materijal koji je skoro neuništiv, posebice ako to gledamo kroz prizmu jednog prosječnog ljudskog vijeka, te se ne treba čuditi podatku da je sva plastika koja je do ovog trenutka proizvedena i dalje prisutna negdje u našem okolišu.

Najviše proizvedene plastike, oko 40%, koristi se za raznoraznu ambalažu, a dodatno se proizvede oko 500 milijardi plastičnih kesa. Kad već govorimo o vrećicama, recimo i da se izračunalo da je prosječno vrijeme korištenja tek oko 15 minuta te da se svake minute na svijetu koristi oko milijun komada. Za one koji vole piti vodu iz plastičnih boca navedimo i podatak da su istraživanja pokazala kako je većina vode iz slavine kvalitetom bolja od bilo koje buteljirane, a posebice se naglašava podatak da je njezina cijena 500 puta veća. Najveći problem je u tome što je većina te plastike namijenjena za jednokratnu upotrebu, što znači da se jedanput upotrijebi i zatim baca, od čega najveći dio, oko 80%, završi u moru. Kad sva ta plastika dođe u more, tijekom jedne godine direktno uzrokuje smrt oko milijun morskih ptica i oko 100 tisuća morskih sisavaca.

Vezivanje toksina

Preskočimo ovaj dio o utjecaju plastike na morske organizme pa krenimo s naglašavanjem problema morske plastike za ljude. Plastika koja završi kao otpad u moru, a procjena je da udio plastike u cjelokupnom otpadu iznosi oko 80%, se utjecajem sunca i valova raspada na manje komadiće koji se zovu mikro i makroplastika. Veličina koja nam služi za razlikovanje mikro i makroplastike je 5 mm, tj. sve čestice iznad te veličine spadaju u makroplastiku, a manje u mikroplastiku. Od te dvije grupe mikroplastika, u koju uz raspadnute čestice spadaju i ostaci iz tekstilne i kozmetičke industrije, je umnogome problematičnija.

Naime, te male čestice u moru privlače različite toksine koji mogu uzrokovati različite bolesti u ljudskoj populaciji. Toksini su otpad različitih industrija i poljoprivrede, ali more je nekako uspijevalo otopiti ih i učiniti neopasnima za ljudsko zdravlje. Sa sve većom količinom mikroplastike u moru, ti se toksini spajaju s plastičnim česticama i na neki način postaju plutajuće toksične pilule. Nadalje, te toksične pilule ulaze u hranidbeni lanac brojnih morskih organizama na različitim razinama te u nekom trenutku u nekom organizmu postaju sve više koncentrirane, a time i opasnije. Na kraju, s obzirom na to da je čovjek na vrhu hranidbenog lanca, završavaju u nama i rezultat može biti katastrofalan.

Probavni organi

Kad kažem može to kažem zato jer se, s obzirom na relativno nova saznanja, potpuni utjecaj mikroplastike na ljudsko zdravlje još ne zna. Znamo da kod riba uslijed toksičnog djelovanja mikroplastike može doći do poremećaja u imunološkom sustavu, abnormalnog rasta, pojave neurotoksičnih bolesti te poremećaja u ponašanju. Sve se to prenosi i na čovjeka koji jede ribu, a čak se kao veći problem spominju školjke koje filtriraju more, jer za razliku od riba, prilikom konzumacije školjki jedemo i njihove probavne organe.

Prema nekim istraživanjima prosječni ljubitelj dagnji tijekom godine pojede više od 11 tisuća čestica plastike samo iz tog izvora. Trenutno se zna da mikroplastika kod čovjeka može dovesti i do poremećaja na staničnoj strukturi, što je ogroman problem jer se ne znaju posljedice takvog utjecaja. Poseban problem je i struktura plastike, jer mi plastikom zovemo različite kemikalije kojih ima oko 10 tisuća različitih vrsta, a sasvim sigurno se zna da barem 2400 njih ima štetan utjecaj na čovjeka.

Da zaključimo: plastika je svuda oko nas, i jasno je da će negativno utjecati na ljude, a ono što mi moramo uraditi je smanjiti njezinu koncentraciju svakodnevnim angažmanom, jer nitko to neće raditi umjesto nas samih.
